Liverpool's issues this season have not gone away.

They are winless in their last three league matches, failing to score in two of them, and they sit 13 points off fourth place.

However, there is hope for Jurgen Klopp's side at Anfield still.

They have won five of their last six Premier League games at Anfield, including each of the last three by an aggregate score 11-0.

They haven't conceded in seven hours and 26 minutes of league football at Anfield either.

  3. 'One game will not decide our season'published at 16:11 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Leeds United

Leeds striker Patrick Bamford, speaking to Sky Sports: "It was one of those where the first half was really good, we should have been more goals ahead.

"The second half, we fell apart a bit. It was a freak result and one we will move on from.

"They scored the second goal and the third came really quick. They punished us for mistakes. It was one of those games where every mistake we made literally got punished.

"In there the boys were, I don't want to say upbeat because we lost 5-1, but they understood that one game like that will not decide our season."

  4. Arsenal prepared for 'jungle'published at 16:08 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta expects the atmosphere at Anfield to be like a "jungle".

The Gunners last won at Anfield in 2012 and before their last league visit Arteta played 'You'll Never Walk Alone' on a sound system at the training ground.

"You cannot train the players in the zoo and then go to the jungle," said Arteta.

"It's impossible. You have to expose yourself. You have to prepare the players. You have to tell them what they're going to be facing and you have to recognise that."

  5. 'No chance of keeping Arsenal out'published at 16:06 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

Chelsea were the better team when they drew with Liverpool on Tuesday. I know the Reds made a lot of changes at Stamford Bridge, but if they were resting players before this game, I don't think it will make much difference.

I think Liverpool's top-four hopes are over now, and everyone is looking ahead to the summer, when a major overhaul of their squad is needed.

I just don't see a switch being flicked with their current group where, all of a sudden, they respond next season - their problems have gone on for too long. I have to hold my hands up and admit I got it wrong a lot with my predictions for Liverpool this season because I kept thinking they had turned a corner - and they haven't done.

There is not a lot wrong with their forward line but their defence is just not good enough and I am amazed Jurgen Klopp's side kept a clean sheet against Chelsea. They won't keep Arsenal out on Sunday, though. There is absolutely no chance of that.

The way Arsenal are playing, I am expecting them to turn up at Anfield, play with a swagger, and cut right through Liverpool.

The Gunners have not won there since September 2012, when Mikel Arteta was playing for them, and in the past this might have been a trip they feared. Not any more.

    Prediction: 1-3

  6. 'Long time since we played like this'published at 16:04 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    FT: Leeds 1-5 Crystal Palace

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace forward Eberechi Eze, speaking to Sky Sports: "It is a credit to everyone that has been putting in the work. It has been a long time since we have been playing like this."

Palace striker Jordan Ayew on the performance: "It is hard to explain. We did a good game. We started bit shaky but overall we kept on doing what we did last week.

"We know we have quality going forward. We are very quick, strong and skilful. We created chances and managed to score these five goals."

  8. As it stands...published at 16:01 British Summer Time 9 April 2023

    Liverpool v Arsenal (16:30 BST)

Top half of the Premier League table

Manchester City did their job yesterday with a comfortable victory over Southampton which means five points separate the top two.

Arsenal can extend that to eight points with victory at Anfield, having played a game extra.

Liverpool are miles off the top four now, sitting in eighth and 13 points adrift.

They can move up a place and go level on points with Brighton if they win.

It's very damaging for Leeds United.

It's a game they felt they could go on a win and get some daylight from that relegation zone.

Crystal Palace came out with great confidence, great flair, some top quality counter-attacking. A little bit of everything.

    Leeds are absolutely shell-shocked.

A somewhat strange atmosphere at a half empty Elland Road with a smattering of boos but also some applause as some fans accept that the second half was just such an anomaly, or at least they will hope it was.

In contrast, the away end is bouncing as ecstatic Palace fans celebrate the incredible revival under Roy Hodgson. In barely two weeks in the job he has claimed back-to-back wins that leaves Palace six points above the relegation.

This was a must win game for Leeds, and one we should’ve. Conceding five at HOME is not good enough. All Leeds fans can hope for now is other results from teams near the bottom going our way, but when does that ever happen?
