    • Everton have only lost two of their past 14 league games against Fulham, although they did lose their last home game against the Cottagers in February 2021.
    • Fulham have lost each of their past four Premier League games, this after having only lost four of their previous 16 beforehand (W8 D4). The Cottagers last endured a longer losing run in a single top-flight season in April 2019 (run of nine).
    • Marco Silva is looking for his first Premier League win over Everton, a club where he managed 53 Premier League games. He’s only the third former Toffees manager to take charge of a Premier League game against them at Goodison Park after managing them in the competition, after Joe Royle (L1) and David Moyes (W2 L4).
  2. Sutton's predictionpublished at 14:50 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

Southampton v Crystal Palace (15:00 BST)

    Chris SuttonImage source, BBC Sport

    Sutton's prediction: 1-1

This is quite a tricky one to call, because it is a must-win game for Southampton - they are that stage now where they are getting desperate.

Crystal Palace, in contrast, have turned a corner with two wins out of two under Roy Hodgson and have put a bit of distance between themselves and the bottom three.

I'm not taking anything away from Roy, who I think is a brilliant coach and has made an instant impact, but I suspect they would have been absolutely fine if Patrick Vieira had remained in charge.

I was mocked for my relegation 'worryometer' when I spoke about it on Radio 5 Live, but I was never really concerned about Palace going down, just because they were about to start this run of playing all the teams below them.

They beat Leicester late on and ended up running away with things in the second half against Leeds last week. That was a very strange game because Leeds had started it so well and Palace normally don't score five goals in a month - but they managed that in just over 45 minutes at Elland Road.

Three wins out of three would be an absolute dream start for Roy but because Saints are so desperate for a victory I can see this one ending up in a draw. It could get a bit nervy at St Mary's Stadium towards the end because Southampton really cannot afford to lose this one.

    Wolves v Brentford (15:00 BST)

    Ivan ToneyImage source, Getty Images
    • Wolves have not lost any of the eight Premier League matches in which they have taken the lead under Julen Lopetegui (W6 D2). They had lost three of the first six games they had gone ahead in this season before his appointment (W2 D1).
    • Brentford have lost their past two Premier League games, as many defeats as they had had in their previous 19 games (W8 D9 L2). The Bees last lost more consecutive matches in January and February 2022, a run of five defeats.
    • Wolves have won four of their past six Premier League home games (L2), as many as their previous 16 beforehand (W4 D3 L9). They have kept a clean sheet in each of those wins, this after having only kept four shutouts in their previous 19 league games at Molineux prior.
  4. 'There are no excuses'published at 14:48 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    FT: Aston Villa 3-0 Newcastle

    Newcastle United

Newcastle captain Kieran Trippier speaking to BT Sport: "From minute one we knew we weren't right. Aston Villa came out of the traps quickly;. The way we played wasn't ourselves. We've got to forget about his result as we have big games coming up.

"No excuses but this is what we do ultimately [play a lot of games]. In and out of possession we were well off it. Full credit to Aston Villa they played well.

"[I expect the manager to] go mad to be honest. Like I said before, out of possession we are normally aggressive and press. Today in possession we were long ball and that's unlike us. We will focus on the game against Spurs."

  5. Will Saints follow Swansea City?published at 14:48 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

Southampton v Crystal Palace (15:00 BST)

    Chris Wise
    Final Score at St Mary's

The only team to sack two managers in a season and survive in the Premier League were...Swansea City back in 2016-17.

There’s a real sense from Saints fans inside St Mary’s that this will be the beginning of the end of their 11 consecutive years in the top flight if they lose today to Crystal Palace.

  6. 'He can't not be in the England squad'published at 14:47 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    FT: Aston Villa 3-0 Newcastle

    Rio Ferdinand
Former England defender on BT Sport

I think he's a fabulous, fabulous player... he works hard and he's always striving to improve.

On form, he can't not be in the England squad. If he doesn't get in, I'll be curious to know who gets in above him.

  7. 'Everton are finding fifth gear'published at 14:46 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    Everton v Fulham (15:00 BST)

    Marc Webber
    Final Score at Goodison Park

While the Grand National happens a few miles up the road, there’s an element of hare and tortoise here at Goodison Park.

Everton are finding fifth gear when it matters with only one home defeat in five.

Meanwhile, Fulham are floundering with four defeats in a row.

That’s why there’s an increasing air of confidence amongst some Everton fans about today’s game.

  8. 'We weren't at our best'published at 14:44 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    FT: Aston Villa 3-0 Newcastle

    Newcastle United

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe talking to BT Sport: "I think it's one of those performances that we need to analyse and move on quickly. We weren't there today. Villa did well but by our own standard we were off it and if that's the case you're never going to win.

"We had our moments but we weren't at our best, that was obvious. We tried to make changes to get a grip of the game but nothing changed the force of the game. Very unlike us, the performance.

"I think we tried to make subs to impact the game, we were chasing the game. That made us a little more open but from our perspective we have to look at ourselves.

"I don't think it's a stage to overanalyse. Hopefully, we can use this as a positive where we can highlight what went wrong because today we didn't deliver."

  9. I'm not looking for positives, I'm looking for a response'published at 14:44 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    FT: Aston Villa 3-0 Newcastle

    Newcastle United

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe to BBC Match of the Day: "We were off our best levels today, right from the start. Aston Villa are a good team and we never got going. We've been consistently excellent this season, today is the first dip we've had; it can happen and we have to react.

"We were just off it in every respect. We've got a massive game next week [against Tottenham]. I'm not really looking for positives, I'm looking for a response."

  10. 'Bournemouth believe they can beat anyone'published at 14:42 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    Tottenham v Bournemouth (15:15 BST)

    Nedum Onuoha
Former Manchester City defender on Football Focus

It will be tough to say but amongst the players themselves it's belief. I think that belief came from nearly beating Arsenal at the Emirates and then beating Liverpool the week after. I think they believe they can beat anybody.

  11. 'Everton stand shoulder to shoulder with Liverpool'published at 14:41 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    Everton v Fulham (15:00 BST)

    Marc Webber
    Final Score at Goodison Park

As the city of Liverpool remembers the anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster today, Everton manager Sean Dyche recalls the day well, as he was at the game with Nottingham Forest’s youth team.

“It’s difficult to find the words to describe the sadness of what took place,” he says in today’s programme notes.

“I know the importance for everyone at Everton to always stand shoulder to shoulder with Liverpool to remember the innocent supporters who passed away watching the team they loved.”

  12. 'We can all dream'published at 14:40 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    FT: Aston Villa 3-0 Newcastle

    Aston Villa

Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn: "It was a superb performance. Newcastle are a very, very good team. They remind me of Leeds a couple of years ago; in the build-up to the game, you know you've got to run and fight, prepare a bit extra. Even at 1-0, they are bringing on players who can change the game. The third goal was sweet, then we could enjoy it.

"We've not had that feeling for some time. I think Newcastle will get Champions League, because they deserve it. They've made St James' Park a real fortress; we saw that earlier on this season. We've managed to do the same; we are playing well. Long make that continue.

"We can all dream. There was a spell six weeks ago when it was unrealistic; we deserve credit for this, but why stop now?"

  13. VAR Attwell hoping for a quiet daypublished at 14:39 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    Wolves v Brentford (15:00 BST)

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport at Molineux

VAR Stuart Attwell will hope for a quieter day than last Saturday.

Attwell was referee for the contentious Premier League game between Tottenham and Brighton, which ended with PGMOL chief Howard Webb apologising to the Seagulls for the failure to award a penalty for a foul on Kaoru Mitoma.

Attwell is at Stockley Park this afternoon in his role as lead VAR for this game.

He will surely hope not to have a lot to do.

  14. 'Why not Europe?'published at 14:38 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    FT: Aston Villa 3-0 Newcastle

    Aston Villa

Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey speaking to BT Sport: "We've got to start fast and we did that. We had a couple of chances in the first half. We had to match Newcastle and we did that."

On form: "Good time to be a Villa player, good time to be a Villa fan. Started the game well and ended the game well."

On European chances: "Yeah, I think for most of the squad this is the first time Europe has come about, if we do get there. We have to remain humble but why not?"

  15. 'One goal here or there can change an awful lot'published at 14:37 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    Tottenham v Bournemouth (15:15 BST)

Bournemouth head coach Gary O'Neil feels his side just have to "focus on ourselves" if they are to ensure Premier League survival this year.

This season's relegation battle has proven to be a tight affair, with as many as nine teams fighting for to keep their place in the top flight for next season.

The south-coast side have pulled themselves out of the relegation zone and up to 15th in the table following important wins in over Leicester and Fulham in recent weeks.

“I don't pay too much attention to the movement between places because one goal here or there can change an awful lot at the moment,” said the former midfielder.

“We have a real focus on ourselves and, as we've seen over the past few weeks, if we take care of ourselves, the rest of it shouldn't matter to us too much.

“There are nine teams involved still, Crystal Palace have had two good results, so maybe they start to take themselves out of that now.

“But we'll be working very hard over the next six or seven weeks to get ourselves out of it as quickly as we can."

The Cherries have a tough task to keep up their improved form as they take on a Tottenham side battling for a place in the Champions League next season, but O'Neil has praised his players' resilience.

"Everybody – my team, the staff, the players – are giving absolutely everything. We’re working our socks off," he said.

“The group, at the moment, deserves that praise that it gets but I'm very conscious we've achieved nothing at this moment.

“Thirty points won't be enough to keep us up, so we need to keep pushing."

  16. 'We are enjoying it at the moment'published at 14:34 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    FT: Aston Villa 3-0 Newcastle

    Aston Villa

Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins speaking to BT Sport: "Yeah I think we are on a great run at the moment we are playing good football. Newcastle are a great side so it shows the levels we are at. Once we get that first goal, it's a hard place to come [Villa Park]. We are enjoying it at the moment.

"[We are] trusting team-mates in tight areas and if we make mistakes we go again. Real togetherness in the team and looking forward to games to come.

"We are on a great run at the moment and taking each game as it comes. It's a hard place to come and we are trying to win every game."

This is the worst Newcastle have played all season. However, through a gritted keyboard, credit to Villa. This is the best any team has played against us for a long long time.
