Villa deserve this lead, sorry to say think Eddie got the team selection all wrong today. Villa formation has completely shut us down. Think changes are a little too late. Fingers crossed we bounce back and still make top 4.

    Aston Villa 2-0 Newcastle

    Nearly a solution for Newcastle!

A ball in from the right finds Miguel Almiron in space in the box. He takes a touch and then fires a low shot that Tyrone Mings shuts the door on with a sliding block.

A more match-sharp Almiron would have gobbled that up.

Time and time again, Villa have swept the ball to either side of the pitch and then found a runner from midfield threatening to break in behind the Newcastle defence. The visitors have not found a single answer to turn the momentum in their favour.

You just can't stop Ollie Watkins at the moment. His touch off to Emi Buendia allows the Villa midfielder to find Alex Moreno on the left. A low cross is played into Watkins' feet in the middle. One touch, one turn, one finish... 2-0!

Newcastle have come to life a bit. They attack in numbers and Alexander Isak is found on the edge of the box. He takes a touch, shifts the ball to his right foot and curls a shot that Emi Martinez tips over.
