  1. 'Stones volley set the tone'published at 17:53 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    Man City 2-0 Leicester

    Paul Robinson
Former Tottenham goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

Complete one-way control. All the omens are against Leicester at the moment.

It was John Stones' left-foot as well. That really set the tone. Fantastic finish.

From then on, City went and got the penalty - and who else? Erling Haaland.

  2. 'We allowed them to score too easily'published at 17:52 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    FT: Tottenham 2-3 Bournemouth

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham interim manager Cristian Stellini, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "It is a really tough day today because we didn't achieve what we want. We gave everything on the pitch and I think everyone understands this. But we allowed them to score the first two goals too easily. Too easy, too easy. It is difficult then when you are one goal down. You have to be strong in this moment to create a unit and have our fans with us. In the second half we tried to push and we were so close to scoring. After the second goal, Richarlison heads the ball to win the game.

"If Richarlison scores that opportunity we are probably here to enjoy a moment. But now we do not enjoy because we allowed them to score three goals.

"I think we play very good in the first half, the first 20 minutes. We scored but then from scoring to conceding their second goal I am not happy with the performance. When you score one, the mindset has to be to score again. We didn't do this. It is important for me that they understand why you try to score one more rather than conceded chances."

Another half-chance but Jamies Vardy is miles offside as he's chipped in behind, blasting it into the side-netting.

The flag goes up shortly afterwards but Vardy knew anyway.

    Leicester's first attack.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall does well on the left and finds James Maddison just inside the box.

He tries to place it into the corner but it's deflected and cleared by John Stones.

A football stadium can be a lonely place.

Ederson has his feet up in the background but Dean Smith is a concerned man. Very concerned.

  6. 'The lads were incredible and showed quality'published at 17:49 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    FT: Tottenham 2-3 Bournemouth

    Bournemouth

Bournemouth manager Gary O'Neil, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "It was a big goal at the end but a hell of a performance. We were in complete control first half and went behind to a team chasing Champions League football. Dominated the ball, had some lovely spells and were the better side. Managed to get ourselves in front and deservedly so. Their second goal was offside but the lads were incredible and showed quality. You can't lose every game in the last minute. We have lost a few this year. For one to go our way was big for us.

"We stay with the same plan. Spurs have nothing to lose, throw more attacking players on and be more aggressive than they were. We could maybe have been better with the ball and felt the pressure a bit. But 2-1 at Spurs you are going to come under some pressure and we did.

"[The second Spurs goal] is clearly offside. Neto has to lean to see around Harry Kane. I am amazed. I was disappointed with the officials today. With six minutes to go you know they will throw everything at you. They miss a header. We had literally just switched the forwards' sides and the ball falls at Dango's [Ouattara] feet. He finishes it really well. I am just delighted for the lads. I spoke to them before about taking a huge step towards where we want to get to. To come and win is one thing but to dominate for the opening spell like we did is impressive.

"We try not to get carried away. We will enjoy this and then it will be gone and put into the memory banks for the fans to enjoy. There is a huge week next week and we need to be ready."

Kyle Walker loses it on the halfway line but wins it back immediately. Bernardo Silva switches it over to Aymeric Laporte and Leicester fall back into position to defend.

  8. 'Not a Chelsea performance'published at 17:47 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    FT: Chelsea 1-2 Brighton

    Chelsea

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard speaking to BBC MOTD: "[It's] difficult because the scoreline doesn't flatter them, they could have scored more goals. [Brighton] are a very good team first and foremost, they have been working together for a long time and now with the coach and the ideas and the energy and the connection within the team is so good and that's why they are where they are and we're not that.

"To get to that will take time, but the first things on the ladder are the basics that we got wrong today. And that can't be right for us, we have to address that very quickly, because that's not a Chelsea performance.

"Some of our changes were forced, we needed to spread the minutes. We should have a squad where people are chomping at the bit to make impressions. So we were by no means taking it lightly. This is my first home game on my return so there is no way I would do that. But the result is what it is.

"There is only one way out and that's to work. Because you come against a team like Brighton who are so good in possession the work side of the game is the crucial one. But for me the level today wasn't good enough.

"They could have scored more. Kepa [Arrizabalaga] was fantastic. Conor Gallagher was another who gave every drop individually. But collectively, as a group, we have to accept it. We have to accept what needs to be done to play for this club and try to win games.

"I've been at the club nine days, I don't like what I saw today. I'm not going to try and dress that up in any way. We have to be really honest about that. There should be a feeling when you play for Chelsea of pride involved. We have to do more for Tuesday.

"To get there, there needs to be a new energy. That needs to come back.

"At the moment we're not in the perfect place. In football you can change the narrative very quickly. We'll have to have a big desire to do that and it will be a different game.

"It's not about the club I played for, it's a different era, even after the time I was manager, other managers have been here and seen success. It's Chelsea football club, it's bigger than all of us. We're not where we want to be, but we have to work like we want to be there tomorrow."

  11. 'Enciso has to improve his mentality'published at 17:46 British Summer Time 15 April 2023

    FT: Chelsea 1-2 Brighton

    Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton manager Roberto de Zerbi to BBC Sport: "It's an amazing day for us. The result, the performance. This game gives more energy, more confidence, more enthusiasm to finish the season in the best way. Now we have to prepare for the semi-final. We'd like to play the final. To do that we'll have to win."

On more injuries: "We're losing too many players. I'm very lucky to be a coach of Brighton. We have many solutions. We can change position of a lot of players. We believe in ourself.

"Julio Enciso played a fantastic game until the goal and then he finished the game. It's not a surprise. He's a good guy. He has to progress and improve in his mentality - to explain to him the importance of the last 10 minutes. If we conceded a goal then his goal is not important like if you win. The important thing is to have the confidence from your team-mates. I don't like if you score and then you finish the game. You have to think about the team."

On the FA Cup semi-final: "We are a serious team with serious players. Nothing changes. We work a normal week. We would like to make our fans happy."

    FT: Wolves 2-0 Brentford

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport at Molineux

Wolves manager Julen Lopetegui has spoken about his side 'needing to cross the river' to safety.

With Wolves seven points clear of the relegation zone, Lopetegui was asked whether they have done it.

    Apparently not.

"We are in the middle of the river.," he said. "There are a lot of crocodiles around us.

    "It is not enough."
