  1. 'Manchester City's level is above everybody else'published at 13:11 British Summer Time 30 April 2023

Former Premier League striker Kevin Campbell says Manchester City are "a level above everyone else" after that 4-1 win over Arsenal in a game that had been billed as a title decider.

The win leaves City two points behind the Gunners with two games in hand, and Pep Guardiola in pole position to win his third Premier League title in a row and equal Sir Alex Ferguson’s record from 2006-2009.

"Manchester City have won four out of five [of the last Premier League titles]. If they win this one it will be five out of six, but it is there to be challenged for," Campbell told BBC Radio 5 Live

"In the past we have seen Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool dominate the league. It is for the other teams to step their levels up. There have got to be challengers.

"I think there will be challengers going forward because a lot of these clubs have deep pockets, but Manchester City have the know-how, they have run the course and distance and their level is above everybody else.

"I was pitchside last night and it was a definite show of City power. The levels were different. If Arsenal or any other team want to challenge Manchester City right now, that is the level they have got to get to."

  2. 'One more twist' or is title race '100% over'?published at 13:10 British Summer Time 30 April 2023

Fulham v Man City (14:00 BST)

There is an overriding feeling that the title race is now over, according to BBC Radio 5 Live's Football Daily team.

After Wednesday's crucial win for Manchester City over Arsenal, former Leicester City defender Robert Huth said: "100%. It’s over.

"There is nothing for me to suggest they will drop off. I don’t think Pep’s teams to drop off. It’s a wrap."

Dion Dublin added: "I think there is one more twist in the tale for City. Whether it’s as bad as a draw but there is one twist in the tale. I don’t think they will win every single game but they may have to deal with a couple of draws or a draw. That’s it. I just can’t see City losing at all."

However, former City goalkeeper Shay Given thinks given the remaining games, the title race is not done just yet.

"You would say that Man City have the tougher run-in so it’s not over yet," he said.

"Fulham away as the next game for example is not an easy game. Then Everton away fighting for their lives, Brighton away and Brentford away. It’s a really tough finish but if City can keep this run of form, there is a real confidence throughout the squad.

"When you can leave Riyad Mahrez on the bench after scoring a hat-trick, it just shows the strength they have."

Pep Guardiola has dismissed suggestions the title race is done as he prepares his Manchester City side for an exciting run-in to the season.

City travel to Fulham on Sunday, knowing a win would take them top of the table for 48 hours at least, with Arsenal not in action until Tuesday at home to Chelsea.

Victory over the Gunners on Wednesday has put City in the driving seat for their third straight title win, but Guardiola is seasoned enough to know much could still change.

"People say it's over - it's not over," he said. "There are still seven games left and we take nothing for granted.

"I know Mikel [Arteta] perfectly and his players will not give up. We are respectful for the teams we have to play and we have to beat them.

"What happened to Arsenal [drawing three and losing one] can happen to us. You can drop points and we have to be aware of that."

He is, however, conscious the trip to Craven Cottage could offer a huge psychological boost should City regain top spot.

"It's a special stadium, against an organised team," he said. "They are exceptional in how they play so we have to be intense, aggressive and try to attack as well as possible.

"If we do our job, we will be closer."

That's the team news for the 2pm games sorted. This is what we know already about the game at Anfield later...

Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate is available after missing the win at West Ham United to allow recovery time, while Naby Keita is back in training.

Diogo Jota should feature despite being forced off at London Stadium after sustaining a blow to his back but Roberto Firmino remains out.

Tottenham Hotspur have no new injury concerns for the trip to Anfield.

Captain Hugo Lloris is still sidelined due to the hip problem sustained against Newcastle United.

  9. Man Utd fan protest against Glazer familypublished at 12:57 British Summer Time 30 April 2023

Man Utd v Aston Villa (14:00 BST)

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport at Old Trafford

I was in the centre of Manchester earlier for the build-up to and start of a major fans protest against the owners of Manchester United.

The Glazer family has owned United since 2005 and organisers have called on fans to stay outside Old Trafford until 18 minutes into today's game against Aston Villa as part of the protest.

The move comes less than 48 hours after final bids for ownership of the club had to be submitted to the Raine Group.

Sheikh Jassim is the only public bidder for 100% but it is understood Sir Jim Ratcliffe's bid, which could involve some members of the family staying on, has put a higher value on the club.

  11. Today's actionpublished at 12:49 British Summer Time 30 April 2023

It's potentially a huge moment for Manchester City. For the first time since mid-February, they can reclaim top spot in the Premier League. It will take a win at Fulham to shove Arsenal down into second.

It's a fascinating day in the race for European football too.

At the start of the season, many will have seen today's Liverpool v Tottenham clash as a potential showdown for a top-four spot. To be fair, both still have slim hopes of making it.

The main action, though, takes place before that game even kicks off at 16:30 BST. Manchester United v Aston Villa is a tussle for the top four, thanks to a stunning run of form from the latter under Unai Emery.

Taking place at the same time, Newcastle v Southampton offers the former the chance to solidify their place in the CL spots and the latter hope of maybe scrambling out of their awful predicament at the bottom (sorry Saints but it's not looking good).

The final game at 14:00 features another team in serious peril as Leeds travel to Bournemouth, who look to be heading towards safety, but won't want to take any chances.

    Not a bad lineup, eh?

What a day we had in the Premier League yesterday.

Hopes were not especially high with just three matches and none of them absolute belters on paper. But take a bow lads, because you served up a treat.

We had a 4-3 thriller, a six-goal annihilation and a dramatic comeback victory that drove a knife right into the heart of a relegation-threatened side.

Today, we have two more fixtures. So inevitably that means we'll get even more fun. Right?
