I know it's the FA Cup today, but if Arsenal win the league despite Haaland that's an incredible achievement.

No surprise that Jermaine Jenas gives Erling Haaland the man of the match.

But mentions too for Phil Foden, Julian Alvarez and Kevin de Bruyne, who have all been excellent too.

De Bruyne, after a clash of knees, comes off with Jack Grealish seeing out the game, with City hoping De Bruyne's problem is minor.

Erling Haaland has scored more hat-tricks in all competitions this season (six) than every other Premier League player combined (five).

    • 6 - Erling Haaland
    • 1 - Mohamed Salah
    • 1 - Ivan Toney
    • 1 - Son Heung-min

Any more goals? We've got five minutes plus injury time to go.

  5. Postpublished at 19:28 Greenwich Mean Time 18 March 2023

    Man City 6-0 Burnley

Manchester City have scored 13 goals in two home matches (one Champions League, one FA Cup, with at least 10 minutes still left on the clock).

As a comparison, that is more goals than Everton, Crystal Palace and Wolves (all 12) have managed in 14 Premier League home games.

  6. Postpublished at 19:23 Greenwich Mean Time 18 March 2023

    Man City 6-0 Burnley

Julian Alvarez nearly grabs a hat-trick himself as he charges down Bailey Peacock-Farrell's clearance but, to the keeper's relief, it goes behind for a goal kick.

  7. More hat-tricks than blankspublished at 19:22 Greenwich Mean Time 18 March 2023

    Man City 6-0 Burnley

We've had some great stats today. This is my favourite one...

Erling Haaland has scored six hat-tricks this season at the Etihad Stadium, which is more games than he has failed to score in at the venue this term (five).

  8. 'City have been electric'published at 19:22 Greenwich Mean Time 18 March 2023

    Man City 6-0 Burnley

    Jermaine Jenas
Former England midfielder on BBC One

Sit back and enjoy this pass from Kevin de Bruyne.

He waits, he waits, and plays it in behind. Really good play from Alvarez; strong and clinical.

City have been electric in this second half.

    Julian Alvarez

Kevin de Bruyne with a heavenly pass from inside his own half and it is perfect for Julian Alvarez.

Alvarez himself shows great skill with a turn to get some space and on the left foot before drilling the ball into the roof of the net.

  10. 'Foden has had a hand in a lot of goals'published at 19:18 Greenwich Mean Time 18 March 2023

    Man City 5-0 Burnley

    Jermaine Jenas
Former England midfielder on BBC One

De Bruyne again starting this, but Foden has had a hand in a lot of goals.

Peacock-Farrell hasn't covered himself in glory, then.

This game won't define Burnley's season at all. Haaland is unplayable at times and Burnley won't come up against City every week next season when they're back in the Premier League

    Cole Palmer

Another one for City, with 20-year-old Cole Palmer getting on the scoresheet only minutes after coming on.

Kevin de Bruyne starts the move, spraying it wide right, the superb Phil Foden blasts a cross / shot, Bailey Peacock-Farrell can only partly push it out, but straight to Palmer who makes it five.

Should just call it 'haat-trick' from now on.

  14. Haaland is costing himself game timepublished at 19:14 Greenwich Mean Time 18 March 2023

    Man City 4-0 Burnley

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport at the Etihad Stadium

This ridiculous goalscoring from Erling Haaland is all very well but for the second game running, Pep Guardiola has subbed him off after an hour.

Haaland is costing himself valuable minutes on the pitch because he is scoring too quickly.

He needs to take a bit more time about it.

  15. SUBSTITUTIONSpublished at 19:13 Greenwich Mean Time 18 March 2023

    Man City 4-0 Burnley

Much to Burnley's relief, they don't have to worry about Erling Haaland any more.

Another hat-trick in the bag and replaced at the 64th minute.

There's the example of what all teams should do in cup ties. Play your best player from the start, get the game won and then take them off.

Cole Palmer comes on for Haaland, Manuel Akanji replaces Ruben Dias and a few minutes later on come Kalvin Phillips and Sergio Gomez for Rodri and Rico Lewis.

Watch this run from Kevin de Bruyne.

So direct; calmness and timing to pick out Alvarez.

    Julian Alvarez

Burnley sliced apart with a wonderful Manchester City goal. Riyad Mahrez plays it outside to the overlapping Kevin de Bruyne, he crosses low and Julian Alvarez has the routine task of finishing from a few yards out.

  18. 'Phenomenon'published at 61 mins

    Man City 3-0 Burnley

    Jermaine Jenas
Former England midfielder on BBC One

It is ridiculous but also brilliant.

Slick, precise play from City but it is Haaland's knack for knowing where the ball will land.

It can't be taught. He is a phenomenon.

  19. goal

GOAL - Manchester City 3-0 Burnleypublished at 58 mins

    Erling Haaland

Yet another hat-trick for the Norwegian.

Phil Foden set up the second and will get classed as an assist for the third too. He strikes low, across goal and the ball beats Bailey Peacock-Farrell but bounces off the foot of the right post.

But it falls straight to Erling Haaland and he converts the rebound first-time for his SIXTH hat-trick of the season.

    Man City 2-0 Burnley

Kevin de Bruyne cuts inside and tries to curl it into the top corner but a leaping Louis Beyer does well to head the ball behind.

The following set-piece finds the head of Phil Foden but his header is kept out with Bailey Peacock-Farrell jumping to grasp it above his head.
