Julian Alvarez tries his luck, the ball takes a double deflection off two Burnley defenders and spins behind for a corner.

Riyad Mahrez takes it from the right but Erling Haaland can't get his head on the delivery and Burnley clear their lines.

Phil Foden has been on the end of some rough challenges from Burnley and Manchester City should've had a free-kick just outside the penalty area after Foden has his foot trod on, but nothing given.

They have been helped by a couple of stray passes from Stefan Ortega but Burnley have started well.

Although they are spending longer periods without the ball than they do in the Championship, the Clarets are using it well when they do get it.

Ruben Dias just had to make a pretty important tackle in his own penalty area and Ameen Al-Dakhil missed his kick when he had a chance to strike from an acute angle.

This is a good spell for Burnley. Louis Beyer slots through a great pass and Nathan Tella is just about to strike at goal only for a truly superb last-ditch sliding challenge from Ruben Dias to deny him.

This is the perfect kind of occasion for Vincent Kompany.

An introduction to what his players can likely expect next year.

A loose ball out of defence from City goalkeeper Stefan Ortega gives Lyle Foster the chance to get into the penalty area, but City's defenders come to Ortega's rescue and wipe out the danger.

Burnley then have the first shot of the match as Nathan Tella, who scored twice in the 2-1 replay win over Ipswich Town in round four, including a last-minute winner, strikes at goal and Ortega pushes it wide.

The corner for the visitors then comes to nothing.

Kevin de Bruyne is free to run at the Burnley defence and slides a lovely ball through to World Cup winner Julian Alvarez, but Ameen Al-Dakhil does excellently to stop the Argentine from getting a shot away.

Phil Foden sends in a dangerous looking cross to the back post, but Burnley's Ian Maatsen, at the second attempt, is able to get rid of it.

Despite all the City possession, currently at 80%, we've not seen a shot on the Burnley goal. Yet.

Phil Foden gets to the byeline and pulls it back for an on-rushing Rodri who strikes at goal from 25 yards out but it is well charged down by Johann Berg Gudmundsson.

Burnley, as you'd expect, are struggling to get the ball with City's rapid, fluid passing trying to drag their opponents out of position and capitalise.

City with some lovely one-touch football but Kyle Walker's cross from the right flank is comfortably cleared by Burnley.

Burnley get us under way and the first of the FA Cup quarter-finals gets going.
