England need to put some more tempo into their game. It has been pedestrian and tedious so far. No wonder the Wembley atmosphere is so subdued. It has been a bore.

    It is definitely pedestrian.

Bukayo Saka fancies his chances against Everton's Vitalii Mykolenko though and wins a free-kick.

It's whipped in and Harry Kane pokes it inches over the bar but he's offside anyway.

Derek: Admit it. England are awful. Pedestrian. We've had two golden boots in recent years and have won NOTHING. Needs a revolution.

David: Clever approach from Ukraine. They've slowed the game down to a very slow tempo that suits them. England seem to do better in a high pressing, faster game (like the Italy match). This is far too ponderous.

Harry Kane on the far post and you're thinking he's going to take that.

It falls on his left foot and it's a difficult finish but you still expect him to score. He just got it wrong on that occasion but you don't often say that about him.

The tempo needs to be quicker from England and the quality of the passing as well.

The more touches England take it allows Ukraine to take a better defensive position.

Keith Webb: Not a lot of cohesion from England thus far.

TOTOFootball: Maddison has been good so far, but him wearing the number 11 instead of 10 is hurting our eyes.

It's a bit messy in the midfield for England. They haven't been able to take control just yet.

They look OK in the wide areas but in the middle of the park England are giving the ball away too easily.
