Bukayo Saka wins a free-kick on the right which James Maddison whips in. Harry Maguire's header is blocked, Ukraine break but Kyle Walker, again, sprints across to provide cover.

I think it's a lazy leg and it should be a penalty. Harry Kane is on the angle just four yards out and if he doesn't get touched then he isn't going to go down.

Bukayo Saka touches it on to Harry Kane in the box. He spins and beats Oleksandr Svatok but can't get a shot off as it rolls through to the keeper. He goes down under contact from Svatok in the process and there's appeals for a penalty which England don't get.

England are beng patient.

James Maddison and Bukayo Saka are drifting into central areas and that's allowing Ben Chilwell and Kyle Walker to get beyond them on the flanks.

James Maddison drifts inside and is found by Ben Chilwell. He slides it through to Harry Kane but the captain is offside.

Jude Bellingham wins it back for England but he can't break. Mykhailo Mudryk is then given one to chase down the left for Ukraine but Kyle Walker shows his pace to intercept.

Ben Chilwell and Ruslan Malinovskyi immediately clash as they try to win a header in the middle. The Ukrainian comes off worse and needs some treatment.

Off we go at Wembley a little later than advertised.

Both sets of players unite together holding a Ukrainian flag with the word "peace" written across it and pose for a photo.

The Ukrainian players are all wearing the national team flag around them for the national anthems.

You expect England to win tonight at home. That might be putting pressure on but England have the better squad and should win convincingly.

"[James Maddison's] been consistent for his club. His training has been top level so I'm excited to see him play. We want him to have the licence to drift. We don't want to restrict him too much. He has that freedom when we've got the ball to hurt them.

"It's great to have [Ben Chilwell] back and fully fit. He's in good condition and he's excellent getting forward, overlapping and running in behind. We're excited to see that pair on that side.

He's contributed heavily in qualification to major tournaments, being involved in 42 goals in just 28 appearances (33 goals, 9 assists).

He is scoring or assisting on average every 50 minutes in these games and has found the net in 18 of his last 19 qualifying appearances, scoring 27 times in those games.

He has also scored 21 goals in 30 England appearances at Wembley.

England's last meeting with Ukraine was a 4-0 win in the quarter finals of Euro 2020.

This is England's first home match since the World Cup, while Ukraine are unable to play their qualifying matches in their own country due to the ongoing invasion by Russia.

"They are very proud," said Gareth Southgate. "We saw that at the beginning of the war when they went to Scotland at the beginning in the [World Cup] play-offs and Wales.

"They are a very proud group of players, you can see that they are totally committed to bringing enjoyment to their public.

"We of course have huge sympathy with what is going on, [Sunday] is a game of football and we are fully focused on the game."

England played really well for an hour against Italy but they ended up hanging on for the win.

The game management was better. I think they missed Jordan Henderson for that management.

If they get better at keeping the ball then things will become much easier.
