It's a long way back for Sheffield United now as Riyad Mahrez is allowed to run unchallenged at the Blades defence before beating Wes Foderingham with a tidy finish.

I've watched Arsenal in an FA Cup semi final at Villa Park and one at Wembley. Villa Park was just better. Neutral ground, half and half full of both teams support. Fantastic atmosphere. Wembley is great... For finals.

Oli McBurnie's got the pedigree. He knows how to convert chances when they come his way. Sheffield United need to get up the pitch, they're just getting penned in. They need to get it wide, get crosses into the penalty area: that's when we'll see the best of Oli McBurnie.

  4. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 58 mins

    Man City 1-0 Sheff Utd

First change as Oli McBurnie, who was unlucky not to start, comes on for Daniel Jebbison who was starved of service. McBurnie's first task is to pass on instructions from the bench to his team-mates. A change of formation?

A glimpse of goal for Erling Haaland! A deflected ball into the box and the forward stretches to get a toe on it but it hits the side-netting.

City are turning the screw. Three quick corners and a couple of shots inside the box which come to nothing.

And now movement on the Sheffield United bench. They are readying at least one change.

Manchester City are picking up from where they left off in the first half. Just controlling possession, controlling territory, making Sheffield United defend their penalty area really well. City are showing really good patience in their attack as well.

A confident claim by Wes Foderingham from another City corner. The pattern of play is very similar to the first half. The Premier League club is dominating possession and Sheffield United are trying to catch them on the break.

Steve: City need to take Gomez off and put Rodri on, Gomez is too timid and he's killing Grealish's game.

For Manchester City it's about more of the same, keeping the ball and getting goals number two and three to put the game to bed.

For Sheffield United it's about if they can get to the 80th minute with 1-0 and really go at it for 10 minutes, I think it would give them a really good opportunity. I don't think they need to go at them. For the majority of the first half they were solid defensively.

A huge kick by Wes Foderingham is flicked on but it rolls out of play for a City goal kick. By the way, Phil Foden is warming up on the touchline. Will we see him before the end?

The Sheffield United player touches the ball away from Silva first. Never a penalty. You can see the ball speed up from his touch!

Sheffield United have come to try and make it difficult for Man City. They've flooded the middle of the pitch, not making it easy through the middle. They've worked tirelessly to make it difficult, but City just wear you down. It took a mistake to create that opening but you can't argue that City probably just about deserve to be ahead.

No single factor has done more to undermine the magic of the Cup more than having the semi-finals played at Wembley.

Large swathes of red empty seats for this FA Cup semi-final at Wembley and the debate is already starting again about playing these games at neutral venues. They provided many memorable occasions over the years.

The Sheffield United fans are getting into it but there is no doubt this atmosphere is subdued for a tie of this magnitude. The FA won't be changing their policy any time soon and Blades fans have been relishing the Wembley experience.
