If Man City go on and win the Treble then yes individual records are ones you want to get but the team comes first. Riyad Mahrez has probably been waiting patiently in case Erling Haaland was to miss a penalty knowing he would get responsibilities next.

City just about deserve the lead. Will the Blades give it a go or keep their shape until later in second half?

A brilliant penalty. Not only does he send the keeper the wrong way but he puts it right inside the post. The goalkeeper wouldn't have had a chance had he gone the right way.

For people wondering why Erling Haaland wasn't stood over it, that's exactly why. The rule generally is if you miss one then you're off them and someone's waiting. Even Erling Haaland has to be a part of the team.

A real test of character for the Blades now. They've worked really hard but need to get to half-time without conceding another.

    Textbook penalty.

    Cool and clinical.

  8. 'Naive defending'published at 17:28 British Summer Time 22 April 2023

The contact is a definite penalty. It's real naive defending by a young striker. Loses track of the ball, has a big swipe at it. Bernardo Silva looks like he's quicker to the ball and once that swipe comes in he's going to take the contact.

Nicholas: Impressed with how Grealish has evolved his play. Rather than forcing the situation he waits for the opportunity which he knows will come.

The Sheffield United fans will be enjoying this. They are giving it their all, working hard.

Pep Guardiola won't want to see his team exposed on the counter attack. He won't want to see Sheffield United getting too many opportunities via City being a bit sloppy in the middle of the pitch.

Sheffield United have defended well and if you give them a goal it gives them something to cling onto. It makes it difficult for Manchester City.

More frustration for City. A patient build-up outside the Blades box ends in a lofted delivery straight into the hands of Wes Foderingham.

City have had 82% possession in the opening 38 minutes.

  14. 'Pressure is building'published at 17:22 British Summer Time 22 April 2023

    Man City 0-0 Sheff Utd

There's no doubt the pressure is building from Man City. They're keeping possession, they're pushing Sheffield United further and further back. As yet just one save Wes Foderingham has had to make from the edge of the penalty area. They're defending pretty well at the moment.

Have to disagree on the home semi-finals. You can see from the Sheffield fans how much it means for them to be at the national stadium. I think for the teams that don’t get this far often, Wembley is still a destination for them and will always be a special occasion for players and fans.

Cheers from Blades fans as City captain Ilkay Gundogan gives away possession just outside the Sheffield United box. Then Jack Grealish tries to fashion an opening but is forced back.

Sheffield United made a very decent start to this FA Cip semi-final but Manchester City are turning the screw now and The Blades are finding it difficult to get any decent possession. Not the first time this has happened to a team facing Pep Guardiola's treble chasers.

Nothing falling for City at the moment. Another corner is swung into the Blades box but Sheffield United once again deal with it. The Championship team are working hard at the back.

It's nonsensical having two Northern clubs play a semi final at Wembley. Any fans travelling back by road after the game won't get home till tomorrow morning. Hardly surprising that some have decided it's not worth it.

It raised a few eyebrows when we saw Daniel Jebbison was playing and Oli McBurnie was benched.

He's started it well. He's getting up against the two centre halves, trying to use his strength and physicality. They're playing long diagonals to him and he's shown a bit of pace.

It's been a good start for the young man.
