There is plenty of optimism from Arsenal fans about their prospects of overturning this 1-0 deficit.

Arsenal were much the better side in the second half in Germany with Victoria Pelova's introduction on the hour-mark giving them a real boost - they just did not convert their chances.

Jonas Eidevall praised his players' "bravery" on the ball afterwards and they will need to demonstrate that again tonight to score.

In a way it makes their approach easier - something Eidevall admitted this week - because they know they have to win the match and will need at least two goals to do so.

The main concern is Arsenal's lack of ruthlessness in front of goal. It's been an occurring theme this season and Bayern don't concede easily.

Arsenal v Bayern Munich (20.00 GMT)

Progress tonight, and Arsenal would be a step closer to winning three trophies this season.

Having already scooped the League Cup earlier this month, Arsenal are firmly in the incredible four-team WSL title race, three points behind leaders Manchester United with a game in hand.

  3. Williamson tops Woman's Hour Power List 2023published at 19:45 British Summer Time 29 March 2023

A good week off the pitch for Arsenal star and England captain Leah Williamson, who has topped the Woman's Hour Power List for 2023.

BBC Radio 4's Woman's Hour selected sport as its focus for this year's rankings, asking listeners to make suggestions across several categories.

A judging panel including Paralympic and Olympic gold medallists Tanni Grey-Thompson and Sam Quek then chose a top 30 with Williamson heading the list.

"I'm slightly taken aback by it but very appreciative," Williamson said.

  4. Mead unlikely to make World Cup - Wiegmanpublished at 19:43 British Summer Time 29 March 2023

Beth Mead played a huge part in Arsenal's progression to this stage of the Champions League, including two goals in that extraordinary 5-1 win at Lyon, however has been absent since last November after suffering a knee ligament injury.

Mead will miss the rest of this season, and England manager Sarina Wiegman has said she is unlikely to be fit for this summer's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand either.

"It's being realistic, and she was very realistic," said Wiegman, who named her final pre-World Cup squad on Tuesday.

"What we said now is, she's not in our plans now, just to really take the time to get back well.

"If a miracle happens and she goes [through recovery] so fast, we will reconsider it, but at this moment I don't expect that."

  5. Barcelona into the semispublished at 19:41 British Summer Time 29 March 2023

The other quarter final second leg match tonight has come to a conclusion, and Barcelona are through to another semi-final.

They have beaten debutants Roma 5-1 on the night, and 6-1 on aggregate.

Barca, champions in 2021 and beaten finalists last year, were playing in front of more than 50,000 fans at Camp Nou tonight, the atmosphere looked incredible.

They face the victor of the tie between Lyon and Chelsea next month.

  6. Another semi for Bayern?published at 19:37 British Summer Time 29 March 2023

Bayern last reached the semi-finals in 2020-21 before losing 5-3 to Chelsea.

If they reach the last four it would be the third time in the previous five campaigns they have reached that stage.

Arsenal are set to beat their record for a Women's Champions League match at Emirates Stadium tonight having sold over 20,000 tickets.

The record currently stands at 12,232 which was the number who attended Arsenal's 4-0 loss to Barcelona in December 2021.

The most for a European game to be held in England was 19,278 at Stamford Bridge for the 2013 final - so Arsenal could beat that too.

There was 22,433 in attendance for the 2017 final in Cardiff which remains the British record.

  8. 'It can go both ways'published at 19:32 British Summer Time 29 March 2023

Arsenal v Bayern Munich (20.00 GMT)

Arsenal defender Rafaelle Souza says the Gunners "cannot afford to make any mistakes" as they attempt to progress to the last four.

"We know it will be a hard game. We've had a good week of training and feel like we're ready. It can go both ways so we cannot make mistakes," she told the pre-match press conference.

"We have a big chance to win the league but right now we're just thinking about the Champions League and Bayern Munich.

"It would be amazing to win three trophies but we need everyone together for [Thursday]. With the support of the fans and our team we can do it."

"We can beat any team at any time and that's a great feeling," Eidevall said.

"We know it will be determined by small details but we know we have a chance. You know everything is possible."

  10. Fourth time lucky for Arsenal?published at 19:27 British Summer Time 29 March 2023

Arsenal, the only English side to win the Women's Champions League, have fallen at the quarter-final stage in their past three European campaigns.

They were beaten by Birmingham City in 2013-14, PSG in 2018-19 and Wolfsburg last season.

You know it's a big game when Arsenal legend Ian Wright is in the local pub before kick-off!

It was busy outside the Emirates when I arrived around 6.30pm and the tubes were busy with fans apparently travelling straight from work.

If Arsenal overturn this 1-0 deficit it will be a night to remember for those supporters who have made it across.

  13. Barcelona cruising in Spainpublished at 19:20 British Summer Time 29 March 2023

    Barcelona 5-1 Roma (6-1 agg)

In this evening's other semi-final Barcelona are in absolute cruise control against Roma, much to the delight of more than 50,000 fans inside the Nou Camp.

Having won the first leg just 1-0 Barca put paid to any hopes Roma had of getting back into the tie when Fridolina Rolfo scored after 11 minutes.

The Sweden forward added a second to her tally after Maria Leon's stunning curled strike from 25-yards out and second-half goals from Asisat Oshoala and Patricia Guijarro put last year's finalists in total control.

Annamaria Serturini pulled one back for the visitors with a low drive but it's damage limitation for Roma with around 15 minutes to go in Spain.

The winners of this one will face Chelsea or Lyon in the semi-final.

  14. The first leg recappedpublished at 19:18 British Summer Time 29 March 2023

Lea Schuller's powerful 39th-minute header gave Bayern the advantage on a frustrating evening for Arsenal.

Jonas Eidevall's side, chasing a first semi-final spot in a decade, came close to an equaliser on several occasions.

Caitlin Foord curled an effort onto the post just after half-time and tested goalkeeper Maria Luisa Grohs twice later in the second half before Stina Blackstenius' looping header and Leah Williamson's strike were both desperately cleared off the goalline by Bayern.

Arsenal had several appeals for a penalty waved away as Foord's shot in the first half might have hit a hand, Rafaelle Souza's shirt might have been pulled back during Blackstenius' chance and there appeared to be a deliberate pass back to the goalkeeper after Williamson's shot was cleared.
