Lauren Hemp just taking a minute to chat with the physios, here.

As I said she is wearing a protective mask at the moment, is she having some issues?

By contrast England are just struggling to get in behind this Australia defence. It's been a bit sloppy so far.

Conditions out there are making it difficult for both sides, though.

Australia have started this game really well. For all the chat of England currently being one of the best teams in the world the Matildas certainly don't seem too fussed tonight.

    Ooooooh.

Leah Williamson sends a long ball down the right-hand side and it looks like Charlotte Grant is going to beat Georgia Stanway to it but Stanway just muscles her off the ball. She drives forward and cuts back for Alessia Russo but the pass is blocked just before it reaches her.

Russo goes down under a bit of contact but referee says no penalty.

As was the case against Brazil on Thursday the Australia players are all over Keira Walsh as soon as she picks the ball up.

She is going to have to find a way to deal with that pressure.

    England 0-0 Australia

First real decent passage of play for England.

Lauren Hemp has a chance before there's a decent ball into the box and Mackenzie Arnold comes right out of her goal to punch away but ends up getting Alessia Russo, who had jumped for the header, in the mush too.

Russo just receiving a bit of treatment but she's fine to carry on.

Lauren Hemp had a strong game against Brazil and she’s started well here, switching from the left wing to the right and causing problems for Charlotte Grant.

You can sense the crowd want her to be more direct when she has the ball. Usually it comes to something.

As a forward I absolutely adore Sam Kerr's movement.

She's been unbelievable for Chelsea. She's a stalwart for Australia - their top scorer, men's or women's, of all time.

Kerr is the kind of player that, with the team having the eyes of the world on them at the momet, she has the hunger to show the world that Australia can win the World Cup.

Are conditions already causing some problems here?

Georgia Stanway tries to get away from her marker but slips and ends up on the deck. She wants a free-kick on the edge of the box but referee waves away any protests.

It’s very cold and very wet and so far the crowd hasn’t really been warmed up here in Brentford.

England have had a few half-chances but Australia haven’t been able to get Hayley Raso or Sam Kerr in dangerous positions yet. Bit flat.

A rare mistake from Keira Walsh there as she gives it away in the middle of the park.

Hayley Raso latches onto it and has time and space on the right-hand edge of the area and eventually pings a shot off but Mary Earps parries away.

Being a former player, it was something you were conscious of all the time when it was that time of the month. You would ask your teammates to check your shorts all the time.

It is a great move, you see a lot of clubs have already done it.

Esme Morgan loses the ball in her own half and Australia try to work it out to Hayley Raso but it comes back to the defence.

    Patient play from the Matildas.

Team GB were beaten by the Matildas at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. That one finished 4-3 after extra time in the quarter-finals.

This England team are a very different prospect under Sarina Wiegman, though.

    Karen Carney

Ella Toone needs to keep pushing on in that midfield role. Her finish against Brazil was really tidy.

We had Fran Kirby in the Euros, but I want Ella Toone to take hold of that jersey and make it her own.

We have parts of the game in midfield that need to be worked on.

First warning sign from England. Lauren Hemp finds Alessia Russo in the middle of the area who manages to wriggle into some space and forces the save from West Ham keeper Mackenzie Arnold down to her left-hand side.

England just need to be wary of the water on the pitch, the ball is just holding up as they play it across the back line.

You can see already that Sam Kerr is ready to pounce.

  20. No VAR in operationpublished at 19:44 British Summer Time 11 April 2023

    England v Australia (19:45 BST)

There will be no VAR or goal line technology despite Brentford's Premier League ground having the capacity to operate both.

As it's a friendly, it's been agreed between the teams to allow six substitutions across three stoppages in play.

England are wearing their World Cup away kit for the first time so that means light blue shirts and light blue shorts.
