    Rangers 0-1 Celtic

It's all Rangers in the early stages of the second half.

Plenty of huff and puff, but little in the way of composure or penetration however.

  2. KICK-OFFpublished at 14:38 British Summer Time 30 April 2023

    Rangers 0-1 Celtic

Celtic get the second half under way - and they are 45 minutes or so away from setting up a domestic treble chance in the Scottish Cup final.

And halway from effectively ending their city rivals' season.

  3. Sakala on for Kentpublished at 14:37 British Summer Time 30 April 2023

    HT: Rangers 0-1 Celtic

Rangers are making a change and it looks like Fashion Sakala is replacing Ryan Kent on the wing.

Pull that Jota goal apart, it doesn't reflect well on any Rangers player in the surrounding area.

  5. Clueless captainpublished at 14:33 British Summer Time 30 April 2023

    Tom English
    BBC Scotland's chief sports writer

There were four or five Rangers players culpable for the goal.

A defensive lapse, switching off and James Tavernier's positioning there was atrocious. He's the captain and, when the ball is in the air, he doesn't have a clue where Jota is.

  6. Same old song for Rangers defencepublished at 14:32 British Summer Time 30 April 2023

    Willie Miller
Former Aberdeen defender on BBC Sportsound

It's what you come to expect now from Rangers.

You analyse the goal and think that can't possibly happen with the quality of players they've got - but it constantly does happen and that is why they're behind.

  7. Rangers pay for lack of focuspublished at 14:29 British Summer Time 30 April 2023

    HT: Rangers 0-1 Celtic

The Celtic end was bouncing as the teams troop off for the interval.

Neither goalkeeper has had much to do in a chaotic encounter, but that dreadful lapse in the Rangers defence and quick thinking from Daizen Maeda has Ange Postecoglou's side in the driving seat.

Rangers will need to look after the ball a whole lot better if they want to get back into this game. Celtic's passing has been much sharper.

  9. HALF-TIME Rangers 0-1 Celticpublished at 14:23 British Summer Time 30 April 2023

Stand-in referee Don Robertson blows for half-time and Celtic are halfway to another win over Rangers and the cup final.

Calamity in the Ibrox side's defence presented them with the chance, but Ange Postecoglou's side were typically lethal in taking full advantage.

    Rangers 0-1 Celtic

Rangers are pressing for an equaliser as we are into three minutes of first-half stoppage time.

Two punches clear from goalkeeper Joe Hart and it breaks to Borna Barisic at the back post, but the left-back slips and the chance is gone.

    Rangers 0-1 Celtic

It's a brilliant goal from Celtic's point of view. It's so bad from Rangers'. That's an absolute calamity. An absolute gift. How easy do you want to make it? Play to the whistle.

  12. Celtic exploit sleepy Rangerspublished at 14:19 British Summer Time 30 April 2023

    Rangers 0-1 Celtic

    Pat Bonner
Former Celtic goalkeeper on BBC Sportsound

Rangers stood still and Celtic so quickly exploit them. Every Rangers defender went to sleep.

Jota all alone, he has the easiest of tasks.

    Jota

    Disaster in Rangers' defence!

Nicolas Raskin stands still expecting the referee to blow for a foul for his challenge on Matt O'Riley. Ryan Kent runs away, Borna Barisic stops, Daizen Maeda pounces and his cross is met at the back post by Jota as James Tavernier is caught napping too!

Great goal for Celtic, playing to the whistle, poor for Rangers.

    Rangers 0-0 Celtic

It's not like Jota to mis-control.

Daizen Maeda's cross finds the Portuguese on his own at Rangers' back post, but the winger lets it run under his feet. Big chance squandered.

  15. Arfield still 'vital' for Rangerspublished at 14:11 British Summer Time 30 April 2023

    Rangers 0-0 Celtic

    Neil McCann

Arfield's not getting any younger, but what he will offer is running in behind. His application is still vital for Rangers. He's an intelligent player. Fans will argue he's better coming off the bench.

Indeed, Malik Tillman is back on the deck and the American trudges off, face in his shirt in disappointment.

Veteran former Canada international Scott Arfield is on in his place in central midfield.

    Willie Miller
Former Aberdeen defender on BBC Sportsound

I don't think it has been a bad half for Rangers, but they do look a bit heavy. Everything looks a bit of a struggle. They haven't been able to keep that intensity up. They're lumbering a little.

  18. Rangers jaded already?published at 14:08 British Summer Time 30 April 2023

    Rangers 0-0 Celtic

Rangers have a problem with Malik Tillman down after lunging into a challenge on Greg Taylor.

The on-loan Bayern Munich man was lucky not to concede a free-kick just outside the box and is also limping with a self-inflicted injury.

Barisic has got a problem now because he has a booking. He's got a lot of this game left to make sure his tackling and his positioning is right.
