Toney is eventually blocked off by the two centre-backs but wins a throw-in deep in Liverpool's half.

Darwin Nunez should be hitting it with the inside of his foot. He completely mistimed it.

Curtis Jones slip it down the left for Darwin Nunez and his cross is hastily cleared by Ben Mee in the middle.

Diogo Jota had slid in to win the ball off Zanka in the build-up and the Brentford man isn't happy with the challenge.

Again, Trent Alexander-Arnold hooks the free-kick away and sends Diogo Jota on the run.

He battles with Aaron Hickey as it's poked back to David Raya.

Darwin Nunez is then chipped in behind a few moments later by Trent Alexander-Arnold but he flicks it wide of the post. Decent chance!

The game's getting very choppy now.

Bryan Mbeumo is on the receiving end of a foul this time and it's another free-kick inside Liverpool's half.

Kristoffer Ajer is sent to go warm-up but Ethan Pinnock looks OK to carry on for now.

Most teams that come to Anfield have to be on the losing side of the possession battle.

But Brentford don’t mind that, they are well adept to staying in games and making it difficult.

As long as there is only one goal difference, this game can remain very competitive.

Cody Gakpo tries to squeeze past Mathias Jensen but he catches him in the face with his hand and gives away a free-kick on the left.

It's taken quickly but Alisson sees it and runs out to gather it in comfortably.

Why not?

The ball pops up for Virgil van Dijk on the edge of the Brentford box. He has a go but it sails well wide.

Half-chance for Bryan Mbeumo as Fabinho misreads the bounce of the ball and he takes a crack from a tight angle. It's always heading into Alisson's arms.

Liverpool break and win a corner at the other end.
