Brentford boss Thomas Frank said Anfield is the "most difficult away ground to visit" and feels Liverpool deserved more this season.

"We have a mountain to climb but we always believe we can do something in any game.," added Frank.

"You can’t question what [Jurgen Klopp's] done at Liverpool. He is maybe the biggest factor in turning the club around to be in a top position in England and Europe.

"Football is cruel; they have played and performed to more than what they have achieved this season."

  2. 'It makes it extremely difficult now'published at 17:08 British Summer Time 6 May 2023

    FT: Wolves 1-0 Aston Villa

    Aston Villa

Speaking to Premier League productions, Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn said: "We are a bit frustrated. We played pretty well and controlled much of the match but Wolves are string at home and a threat from set pieces. They made it difficult for us but we had our chances and on another day we could be going home with a point."

On the club's chances of qualifying for Europe: "It makes it tougher. It makes it extremely difficult now but we have three games left and we will try to win all three. We need to react positively and we will asses it the same way we assessed games in the positive run we were on."

Ilkay Gundogan is on a hat-trick, it's 2-0 late on in the game, I think we would have seen that all around. That would have been the decision made.

He's hit the post and now the questions will be asked about why Riyad Mahrez or Erling Haaland hasn't taken it - but he's got to take it.

He's on a hat-trick, it's a great story for him. Then Leeds got the opportunity and they took it.

That made it a little bit more interesting. Great performance all around from Man City, they controlled the game against a team who are fighting for their lives with a new manager bounce.

With all the changes and the games that are coming up, I think it was a wonderful day at the Etihad.

  4. How both teams standpublished at 17:06 British Summer Time 6 May 2023

    Liverpool v Brentford (17:30 BST)

Liverpool have won five successive league matches after they were victorious in only four of their first 13 of 2023.

Their only defeat in their last 40 home league fixtures came against Leeds in October.

In Brentford's 72 Premier League games, they have scored 100 goals and conceded 100 goals.

They are aiming to win three league matches in a row for the first time since January, a run which included a 3-1 victory over Liverpool.

  5. 'We want to protect our pack'published at 17:05 British Summer Time 6 May 2023

    FT: Wolves 1-0 Aston Villa

    Wolves

Speaking to Premier League productions, Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves said: "Massive result for us. We just wanted to win at home again. We worked so hard and I'm so proud of everyone. It was a tough game and Villa have been one the best teams in the second half of the season but I think we deserved this for all we have been through this season. Really happy for the boys and the fans.

After the Brighton game, it's all we have talked about. We knew we were not that team. It was a tough one to come out from with six goals against us. It was really bad but it was good how the whole team has reacted. Everyone was focussed on this game. We have three games to go and have 40 points.

"The Premier League is always hard but at home we have our fans with us. The atmosphere was amazing and one of the best of the season. When we play at home we want to protect our pack. We know if we keep a clean sheet we will have our chances to score goals like we did today."

  6. 'We were more clinical in front of goal'published at 17:04 British Summer Time 6 May 2023

    FT: Bournemouth 1-3 Chelsea

    Chelsea

Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher, speaking to Premier League Productions: "It feels great, we just wanted to put in a performance today. We haven't been good enough recently so this was an important game for us and I think we performed well and deserved the win.

"Hopefully we can move forward and take confidence from it. It felt much better, everyone seemed more confident and we controlled the game. It was a good team performance and we just need to carry it on now.

"The main message from the boss was that we needed to be more clinical and more ruthless in the final third. So to get three goals today was great and shows that the stuff we're been working on has worked."

  7. 'Brilliant performance from Man City'published at 17:03 British Summer Time 6 May 2023

    FT: Man City 2-1 Leeds

    Michael Brown
Former Manchester City midfielder for BBC Radio 5 Live

There was a scare and a feeling that Leeds could get something when they got that lifeline as the ball ricocheted into Rodrigo's path.

It was a brilliant performance and Man City should have been out of sight.

Ilkay Gundogan could have got that hat-trick when he hit the post with that penalty kick.

There is a slight scare with Nathan Ake. That will be a worry with Real Madrid coming up.

Erling Haaland frustrated today as well. We've seen some wonderful things from Kevin De Bruyne.

Pep Guardiola will be pleased the job is done, really professional. Another game out of the way.

  8. 'Liverpool's attack is firing'published at 17:01 British Summer Time 6 May 2023

    Liverpool v Brentford (17:30 BST)

Liverpool's attack is firing at the moment and I really like the look of their forward line.

They need to win every game to have a chance of getting in the Champions League next season, but even Reds boss Jurgen Klopp feels it is unlikely they will make it from here.

I don't even think they will beat Brentford, to be honest, because the Bees look like they are back on it after having a bit of of a blip a few weeks ago.

The way Thomas Frank's side came back late on to beat Nottingham Forest last week was a sign they are not on their holidays yet and they have made a habit of upsetting the big clubs this season.

Brentford deservedly beat Liverpool in January and I am going with the same outcome here.

    Prediction: 1-2

  10. 'A good three points'published at 16:59 British Summer Time 6 May 2023

    FT: Tottenham 1-0 Crystal Palace

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham striker Harry Kane, speaking to Premier League Productions: "It was tough but really important to get the three points and a clean sheet. Palace are in a good vein of form so we knew it would be difficult. Scoring just on half-time helped and we defended well in the second. So overall a good three points."

Lots of reaction to come from this afternoon's matches but we've got one more to go as Liverpool host Brentford at 17:30 BST.

We'll start building up to that one but stick around for all the quotes from elsewhere.

  14. FULL-TIMEpublished at 16:55 British Summer Time 6 May 2023

    Man City 2-1 Leeds

It was so much more uncomfortable than it should have been, but City get the job done to go four points clear at the top of the table.

Big Sam and Leeds will take a lot of heart from the way they dug in and made this a contest when they were simply not in it for so long.

City now wait to see what Arsenal do, while Leeds will be keen observers of Forest, Leicester, Everton and Southampton.

  15. FULL-TIMEpublished at 16:54 British Summer Time 6 May 2023

It wasn't pretty, but it was effective.

Tottenham end a run of four games without a victory thanks to Harry Kane's header right on half-time.

  17. FULL-TIMEpublished at 16:52 British Summer Time 6 May 2023

    Wolves 1-0 Aston Villa

There goes the whistle. Julen Lopetegui punches the air in delight.

If Wolves had any lingering doubts of relegation they have been banished now.

  18. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 16:51 British Summer Time 6 May 2023

    Man City 2-1 Leeds

City take off Ilkay Gundogan and send on Rodri. It eats a bit more time to get this result in the bag.

There's about a minute of added time left.

  19. Postpublished at 16:51 British Summer Time 6 May 2023

    Wolves 1-0 Aston Villa

Emiliano Martinez launches a free-kick into the box but Jacob Ramsey cannot get onto the end of it.

    Goal kick. Wolves nearly there.

  20. YELLOW CARDpublished at 16:50 British Summer Time 6 May 2023

    Tottenham 1-0 Crystal Palace

It is getting feisty as we go into stoppage-time at Tottenham as Joachim Andersen wipes out Harry Kane.

Free-kick to Tottenham nearly level with the edge of the penalty area. It looks like they will play it short to waste some time.
