The Terriers are in exactly the position they want to be and are looking fairly comfortable.

Their fans are making a lot of noise and perhaps relishing a final day party at the John Smith's Stadium.

That's going to be hard to stomach for any Reading fans hardy enough to make the trip to West Yorkshire on Bank Holiday Monday.

  2. Postpublished at 75 mins

    Huddersfield 1-0 Sheff Utd

Sheffield United are probing away, but a John Fleck through ball runs harmlessly out for a goal kick.

Huddersfield are 15 minutes away from securing their Championship status.

It would be a fifth win in eight for the Terriers - what a rescue job from Neil Warnock!

Sheffield United are getting a bit more firepower on now.

It's defence versus attack and Town need to get their breathers when they can.

  5. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 67 mins

    Huddersfield 1-0 Sheff Utd

    More changes for the Blades.

John Fleck replaces Enda Stevens as the first-half sub is subbed, and Man City loanee midfielder Tommy Doyle replaces Oliver Norwood.

  6. Postpublished at 66 mins

    Huddersfield 1-0 Sheff Utd

That's only the sixth goal the Blades have conceded in nine matches.

And there was a sniff of a seventh as Josh Koroma caused more problems for the visitors on the break.

He sends David Kasumu through, but his shot finds the side-netting.

I'm assured that this is Neil Warnock celebrating Huddersfield's opener, rather than Neil Warnock complaining about something.

Admittedly the two expressions probably look quite similar!

    Huddersfield 1-0 Sheff Utd

The equation's clear and sobering for Reading.

Sheffield United need to score twice without reply in the last 26 minutes and bits or the Royals are spending next season in League One.

    Could there be a twist?

    What. A. Goal!

I didn't even think the shot was on when he got the ball but Wes Foderingham didn't have a chance.

They've deserved it. They've been excellent this half.

Danny Ward knows he is Neil Warnock's man and what a way that is to repay that faith in him.

Danny Ward's stunner rewards the Terriers' superb start to the half with what could be a crucial goal to keep them in the Championship.

Ward spins his man with his back to goal and curls an absolute beauty with his left foot into the far bottom corner from 25 yards.

It's only his second in 24 appearances, but what a way to do it - and what a time!

    Brilliant save from Wes Foderingham.

Josh Koroma has done really well but I think he's got to score from there.

Good to see Town playing on the front foot though.

    So nearly the lead.

Wes Foderingham does well to parry Josh Koroma's shot as the Huddersfield forward nutmegged Chris Basham and burst into the box.

The roles have really been reversed at the start of the second half as Huddersfield crank up the pressure.

More intent in 10 minutes than they showed in all of the first half. A third corner in quick succession is dealt with.

  13. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 52 mins

    Huddersfield 0-0 Sheff Utd

Double change for the visitors as Paul Heckingbottom freshens up his attack.

Iliman Ndiaye and Daniel Jebbison are off, Oli McBurnie and Billy Sharp come on.

Ben Gordon: As a Reading fan in Chile I am hoping it goes down to the last game, but given we’ve only won twice in 2023 it might just prolong the wait for the inevitable? Relegation beckons.

Robert Smallbone: We’ve been turgid all season so would rather Huddersfield just put us out of our misery tonight! At least we’ll get to play Oxford next season.

Chris Painter: Reading fan here. Obviously I want Huddersfield to lose, but frankly we've been so poorly run as a club that we deserve everything that happens to us - possibly more if we end up surviving!

Good to hear from you, Royals. And thanks for spending your Chilean afternoon with us, Ben!

Great start to the second half.

Another corner for the hosts and Jack Rudoni's inswinger causes danger, but headed clear.

    Real intent.

Superb corner into the box from Jack Rudoni.

The header needed to be cleaner but credit to Sheffield United for their defending.

    Chance.

Huddersfield have lost just one of their last eight and if they can extend that record tonight to one in nine they'll be safe and Reading are bound for League One.

No changes for either side for the second half and we're under way.

Huddersfield have had just one attempt at goal - a hopeful long-range effort from Danny Ward which was blocked.

United have had 73% possession but fashioned just one clear chance when Daniel Jebbison went through one-on-one but saw his shot saved by Lee Nicholls.

If they get a point and another season in the Championship, boss Neil Warnock won't care how they do it.
