  1. HALF-TIMEpublished at 13:55 British Summer Time 1 May 2023

    Rotherham 0-0 Middlesbrough

Rotherham cannot make anything of the ensuing free-kick and that is half-time.

The Millers have a man-advantage and 45 minutes to find the goal that will guarantee another season of Championship football.

I don't see how the referee can see that as a sending off!

I think the officials have been pretty average so far today.

  3. RED CARDpublished at 45+5 mins

    Rotherham 0-0 Middlesbrough

    Huge moment in the game!

Anfernee Dijksteel gets rolled by Jordan Hugill and he pulls down Hugill inches outside the penalty area when Hugill was getting ready to pull the trigger.

No complaints from the Dutch-born defender about his red card from referee Keith Stroud.

  4. Postpublished at 45+4 mins

    Rotherham 0-0 Middlesbrough

The ball has turned into a hot potato as far as Rotherham are concerned.

You can't fault their endeavour, but they could do with a little bit more quality in possession.

    Poor, poor, poor.

We just need to see it out now.

Get this last minute over with and into the dressing room.

Really poor period of play form both teams.

Neither can play a decent pass.

  7. INJURY TIMEpublished at 45 mins

    Rotherham 0-0 Middlesbrough

After two lengthy stoppages, we now have FIVE minutes of injury time.

Can either side find a breakthrough before the half-time whistle?

Dan Barlaser has got to do better there.

    He drives those shots normally.

But he does a little side foot instead.

    What a chance that was.

    Rotherham 0-0 Middlesbrough

Better from Middlesbrough as Marc Bola sends over a teasing ball, but it's just beyond Cameron Archer.

It arrives at the feet of Dan Barlaser, but the ex-Rotherham midfielder sees his effort blocked and it does not trouble Viktor Johansson.

  10. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 40 mins

    Rotherham 0-0 Middlesbrough

Shane Ferguson is not fit to continue - the second Rotherham switch in the opening 40 minutes.

Matt Taylor sends on Ben Wiles in place of the Northern Ireland international. After all the preparation and tactical work, that is two subs already in such a key game.

Who would be a manager? Not me, that's for sure!

    Rotherham 0-0 Middlesbrough

Rotherham winger Shane Ferguson has been down for treatment.

With Chiedozie Ogbene having already left the field, Matt Taylor would not want to lose his other wide man to injury.

  12. Postpublished at 34 mins

    Rotherham 0-0 Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough are finding that very few sides have an easy afternoon at the Aesseal New York Stadium.

Promoted duo Burnley and Sheffield United were both held to draws here, while play-off chasers Sunderland, West Brom and Blackburn were all defeated.

    It's a scrappy game.

Middlesbrough have got behind Rotherham a couple of times but not really caused them many problems.

We just need to keep a cool calm head, pass it about and I have no doubt we will cut them open.

  14. Point is nearly enough but not quitepublished at 31 mins

    Rotherham 0-0 Middlesbrough

It's worth pointing out that a point would push Rotherham very close to safety, but not quite.

It would leave them three points clear of Reading in the final relegation spot and with an eight-goal advantage in terms of goal difference.

Great cross from Ollie Rathbone as he puts it in such a dangerous position, but it is just beyond a touch from Jordan Hugill in the middle.

It could easily have hit Marc Bola and gone in, too, but instead Boro breathe a sigh of relief as it goes out for a goal-kick.

  16. Postpublished at 25 mins

    Rotherham 0-0 Middlesbrough

Isaiah Jones gets the ball in a dangerous position down the right and attempts to whip over a cross towards Cameron Archer and Chuba Akpom.

But it flies narrowly over the bar. The strikers need better service than that.

  17. Postpublished at 22 mins

    Rotherham 0-0 Middlesbrough

That is a blow with the departure of Chiedozie Ogbene.

He is Rotherham's top scorer this season and the manner of how he went off, it would seem unlikely he would be fit for the game at Wigan next Monday if the Millers need something.

It's a reckless challenge from the Boro midfielder Hayden Hackney on Rotherham's Chiedozie Ogbene.

    He chopped him down.

Ogbene leaves the field on his feet and is applauded by the fans but that is a big blow for the Millers.

  19. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 18 mins

    Rotherham 0-0 Middlesbrough

A big blow for Rotherham as they are forced into an early change.

Republic of Ireland winger Chiedozie Ogbene goes down under a challenge on Hayden Hackney and is not fit to continue with Brentford loanee Tariqe Fosu-Henry coming on in his place.

This is the reverse fixture from a 0-0 draw the sides played out on 17 September when Chris Wilder was in charge at Middlesbrough and Paul Warne was still with the Millers.

Boro were struggling in the bottom three and Rotherham were flying high in eighth. The two sides have gone in different directions since under Michael Carrick and Matt Taylor.

Rotherham have not finished a single game-week in the bottom three all season, so it would seem cruel if they somehow do not stay up.

But of course, the final league table does not lie.
