    FT: Cardiff 1-2 Huddersfield

It's a vital win for Huddersfield, who are now three points clear of Reading with a game in hand over the Royals.

They have the daunting task of facing Sheffield United next, before what could be a thrilling final-day decider against Reading!

For Cardiff, it was job done on Thursday for the most part, and they looked weary at times against a well-rested Huddersfield side.

Take nothing away from the visitors though, they deserved the victory despite a late rally from Cardiff.

Cardiff face champions Burnley at Turf Moor on the final day of the season.

Thank you for joining us this afternoon, and enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Huddersfield manager Neil Warnock told Sky Sports:

“That’s up there with one of my biggest wins.

“We’ve really scrapped to get the goals. I knew we needed to get that second but I thought we deserved to get more goals in the second half.

“I’m such a proud manager. I couldn’t have asked for more from the lads and we’re really chuffed with the result.”

On next game against Sheffield United: "They've done so well to get promoted but we've been on the front foot and we'll do that again.

"There was no talk today about losing or a draw and we will have a go at Sheffield."

  11. FULL-TIME - Cardiff City 1-2 Huddersfield Townpublished at 13:58 British Summer Time 30 April 2023

    Huddersfield survive the Cardiff fightback!

After a dreadful first half the game came to life after the break.

Substitute Joseph Hungbo gave the Terriers the lead after some awful Cardiff defending, and an own goal from Jack Simpson looked to have put the game to bed.

But Cardiff found a late way back into the game when replacement Isaak Davies flicked in a cross to make it 2-1.

And the hosts almost earned a late draw but Rubin Colwill was denied by the save of the game from Lee Nicholls.

The travelling fans are celebrating away to my right, and their players deserve he applause for their efforts today.

They are not safe yet, but one more point will do it.
