  1. 'Leeds change made at the right time'published at 12:05 British Summer Time 13 May 2023

    Leeds v Newcastle (12:30 BST)

    Paul Robinson
Former Leeds and Tottenham goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

Sam Allardyce has been given a task in four games. You see some Leeds fans saying they’ve gone from Bielsa to Allardyce in 18 months. I get that, but no one has said this is a long term project. This club faces relegation, the last time it was relegated from the Premier League it was in the abyss for 17 years.

I suspect the potential takeover they have got wouldn’t sit in the same place if they are in the Championship. Sam has been brought in to do a job because they were leaking goals. They were sleepwalking to relegation. I commend the board for making a huge decision, making a change at the right time and trying to stem the flow of goals against them and try and keep them in the Premier League.

  2. 'Wolves look super-organised'published at 12:03 British Summer Time 13 May 2023

Man Utd v Wolves (15:00 BST)

I am starting to slightly worry about Manchester United. They have lost two successive games and only managed one goal in the past 315 minutes they've played.

Most of their problems have come away from Old Trafford but the heat is really on them now because Liverpool are right on their tail in the race for the top four.

Wolves look super-organised under Julen Lopetegui, which is why it was a surprise when they got absolutely spanked at Brighton a couple of weeks ago.

This game is going to be a lot closer than that but I still think Erik ten Hag's side will find a way to win.

    Prediction: 2-0

I think Julian Nagelsmann has looked at this Tottenham situation and said it is not for me. I am too good, too focused, I want to be part of that greatness and Spurs doesn’t shout greatness right now.

“You have to think of a manager of his stature, do we even know what is happening with Harry Kane right now? For all the top teams we know how important it is to have a top class striker. If he loses Harry Kane, who fills in those boots at Spurs and if you go in as Nagelsmann with his reputation to try and patch Tottenham together.

  4. Could set-pieces be key?published at 11:59 British Summer Time 13 May 2023

    Leeds v Newcastle (12:30 BST)

Sam Greenwood is a set-piece specialist so could be an interesting choice in the Leeds team today. Is that why he's been brought in?

He hasn't had much game time this season. Classic Sam Allardyce tactic perhaps!

  5. 'Newcastle defence is a worry for Leeds'published at 11:57 British Summer Time 13 May 2023

    Leeds v Newcastle (12:30 BST)

    Nigel Reo-Coker
Former West Ham midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

When you look at Newcastle they are one of the best teams defensively, so that is my worry for Leeds.

  6. 'Nothing riding on it'published at 11:55 British Summer Time 13 May 2023

Crystal Palace v Bournemouth (15:00 BST)

This is probably the only Premier League game with nothing riding on it.

Crystal Palace beat Bournemouth on 31 December in what turned out to be Patrick Vieira's final win as Eagles boss - two months before his departure.

This time? I'm going for a bore draw but I want to give credit to Gary O'Neil, who has done a brilliant job as Bournemouth boss. Like Palace under Roy Hodgson, he has put together a really well-organised team.

I've written the Cherries off many times this season so it is probably bad news for their fans that I am going with them to get a draw here - I did that last week and they lost to Chelsea, and it will no doubt happen again.

    Prediction: 1-1

  7. 'Passion, commitment and desire'published at 11:52 British Summer Time 13 May 2023

    Leeds v Newcastle (12:30 BST)

    Leeds United

Leeds manager Sam Allardyce talking to BT Sport: "My time as a manager, every morning before a game is the hard part because you're just waiting so that's why I'm delighted it's a 12:30 kick off.

"You're always wondering what might go wrong. Has someone woken up with a tummy bug?

"We've had a quick meeting and then let players get on with their own preparation.

"When the whistle goes, that's when the nerves go."

On what the squad was like when he arrived: "Confidence was low. We could see that in the body language of the players. It's about being light-hearted. I like a bit of fun in the dressing room to try and get people in the right frame of mind.

"We are focusing on what we can do right and that's the hard thing, especailly in a short space of time.

"We need to defend better and stop conceding goals.

"We stood up to Manchester City and didn't buckle. That's the key thing for me. They'd lost by four of five goals in the past and that didn't happen.

"We made the game better for ourselves and defended better apart from the penalty we gave away."

On getting the fans on board: "Passion, commitment and desire. All of those things should be a given when playing at Elland Road.

"We can only get the crowd behind us. We can't ask them to get behind us. It's all about the first tackle and the first cross.

"We need to show quality in the final third.

"I'm going to try my best to get the players in a position where they can win the game. If that's going to happen then they need to stop conceding silly goals.

"I'll enjoy myself today if we get a result. That's where I get the buzz from. Some people say I must be mad but I enjoy myself when I'm here."

  8. 'I don't feel players are daunted'published at 11:50 British Summer Time 13 May 2023

    Leeds v Newcastle (12:30 BST)

Eddie Howe does not believe his Newcastle team are feeling the pressure as they bid to secure a spot in next season's Champions League.

The third-placed Magpies will be sure of a top-four finish if they take a minimum of seven points from their final four matches.

Asked if the "air is heavier" around the squad with so much at stake in the closing weeks of the season, manager Howe said: "I think the air should be lighter, not heavier. We’re excited - that has to be our emotion.

"We’re looking forward to the challenges ahead. I don’t feel the players are daunted by it. I’ve seen them train this week - again it’s been very good and the players seem mentally in a good head space.

"We’re approaching it with a view of what we can achieve, rather than worrying about any consequences."

  9. Nottingham Forest's biggest disappointment this seasonpublished at 11:48 British Summer Time 13 May 2023

Chelsea v Nottingham Forest (15:00 BST)

Ben Dore, Dore on Tour, external

Back in the Premier League after 23 years and 30 or so signings arrived at the City Ground.

Fans were optimistic with the players coming in, a mix of young, hungry players with experienced Premier League types.

The player who has really disappointed is Jesse Lingard.

His CV doesn't lie about what he has achieved in football with Manchester United, England and his spell with West Ham.

When Forest signed Jesse, he was the number 10 we all wanted. But with loads of injuries and his form not being great, he has spent most of his time on the bench.

Our young players like Brennan Johnson have taken over Lingard's status of been a important player in what is his first season playing in the Premier League.

Without Johnson's goals, Forest would have been relegated to the Championship by now.

  10. Allardyce in confident moodpublished at 11:45 British Summer Time 13 May 2023

    Leeds v Newcastle (12.30 BST)

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Elland Road

Leeds United's interim manager Sam Allardyce is full of beaming smiles as he strides on the pitch at Elland Road but this will be a very tense occasion with the stakes high for both sides. Leeds are seeking Premier League survival while Newcastle United are chasing a place in the Champions League next season.

Few raised eyebrows at the exclusion of Wilfried Gnonto from the Leeds United starting line-up. Has Allardyce chosen pragmatism over a player who can give Leeds an x-factor but can also be unpredictable?

  11. 'Fans will play biggest part in this game'published at 11:43 British Summer Time 13 May 2023

    Leeds v Newcastle (12:30 BST)

    Nigel Reo-Coker
Former West Ham midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

The Leeds fans will play the biggest part in how this game goes down.

The fans don't want to go to the Championship so they will support the boys for 90 minutes plus.

They will make it an intimidating atmosphere so Newcastle don't get comfortable and don't settle.

  12. 'Forest potential is endless'published at 11:40 British Summer Time 13 May 2023

Chelsea v Nottingham Forest (15:00 BST)

    Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Dean Henderson speaking to BBC Radio 5 live about the relegation battle: "I am so nervous. It is all I have been thinking about recently but hopefully the lads can go to Stamford Bridge and nick a result.

"A lot rides on these next three games for Forest. If we can get over the line the potential is endless really. The first season is always the hardest. Over the next two to three seasons if we can stay up it will be great and hopefully we can push towards Europe."

    • If Southampton fail to win this match they will be relegated from the top flight for the third time in their history, having spent the past 11 campaigns in the Premier League.
    • Fulham’s 14 victories are their joint most in a Premier League season. The Cottagers have only won more games in a top-flight campaign in 1959-60 (17).
    • Following their 2-1 win in December, Fulham are looking to complete their first league double over the Saints in the 32nd campaign in which they've met.
  14. Team news - Rodrigo and Greenwood in for Leeds, Almiron startspublished at 11:33 British Summer Time 13 May 2023

    Leeds v Newcastle (12:30 BST)

Leeds' top scorer Rodrigo starts, having come off the bench to score in the loss at Man City last weekend. He replaces Wilfried Gnonto, with Patrick Bamford retaining his place in attack.

In midfield, Sam Greenwood starts, with Marc Roca dropping to the bench.

Adam Forshaw is also amongst the substitutes, with his place going to Robin Koch - a centre-back by trade, but someone who can operate in a defensive midfield position.

Newcastle's team news is more straightforward.

Eddie Howe makes just the one change from the team beaten by Arsenal, with Miguel Almiron replacing Jacob Murphy in attack.

Leeds United XI: Robles, Ayling, Firpo, Koch, Bamford, Harrison, Rodrigo, Kristensen, McKennie, Wober, Greenwood.

Subs: Meslier, Forshaw, Aaronson, Roca, Summerville, Struijk, Rutter, Gnonto, Gray.

  15. 'Southampton would have more points if they had kept Hasenhuttl'published at 11:32 British Summer Time 13 May 2023

    Southampton v Fulham (15:00 BST)

Sacking Ralph Hasenhuttl, the club's summer transfer strategy and the decisions to loan out Jan Bednarek and Jack Stephens rank highly on BBC Radio Solent's top 10 reasons for Southampton's impending relegation.

Adam Blackmore pushed for the Austrian's dismissal to be high on the list and argued Saints would be in a better position should they have kept him in charge.

"I think it was important," Blackmore said. "I think they would have had more points if they had kept him."

Hasenhuttl departed St Mary's with the club in 18th place in the Premier League - they are currently bottom with three games to play.

Southampton fan Rob placed the summer signing policy just below Hasenhuttl's dismissal, arguing, "If they had got the transfers right, it would not matter what happened with Bednarek and Stephens."

Stephens has spent the season on loan at 14th-placed Bournemouth while Bednarek spent the first half of the season on loan at Aston Villa where he started only once.

Since his return, he has started all but two of Saints' Premier League fixtures.

  16. Sutton's predictionpublished at 11:28 British Summer Time 13 May 2023

Chelsea v Nottingham Forest (15:00 BST)

This week Chris Sutton takes on Joe Elliott, frontman of rock legends Def Leppard and a Sheffield United fan.

    Chris SuttonImage source, BBC Sport

    Sutton's prediction: 2-1

I may have won the predictions title this season but Chelsea did their best to destroy me. I should have just picked one outcome - win, lose or draw - at the start of the season and stuck with that all along, saying the same every week. I probably would have picked up more points from their games that way.

I don't seem to be able to call Chelsea right whatever I try, so this time I am basing my prediction purely on Nottingham Forest's abysmal away record.

Forest have just one win and six points from 17 games on the road, where they are conceding an average 2.4 goals a game.

Surely they won't get anything at Stamford Bridge - although this is Chelsea we are talking about. Blues interim manager Frank Lampard got his first win last week, although I am not sure they deserved to beat Bournemouth.

Now Frank needs a home win, and despite my better judgement I am going with them to get it. Stand by for a Forest victory then... nothing would surprise me here.

Joe's prediction: Forest seem to be finally getting to grips with the Premier League, but Chelsea have just won a game after a very long wait! This will be close and it might even be controversial... but I'm going for Chelsea to win this one too. 1-0

It's another crucial day in the race for European qualification spots at the top of the Premier League.

Newcastle and Manchester United are the teams in possession of top-four spots, but they will not want to slip up today, against Leeds and Wolves respectively.

A win for both will significantly strengthen their hand and put further pressure on fifth-placed Liverpool, who face Leicester on Monday.

Tottenham's top-four hopes hang by the thinnest of threads. If they lose to Aston Villa today, Unai Emery's side could leapfrog them in the table and leave them fighting even to make the Europa League.

It's a huge day for the clubs at the bottom of the Premier League.

Leeds United sit second bottom, level on points with Leicester City and two points off Everton in safety.

Nottingham Forest are a point in front of Everton, meaning three points separate four teams.

Any of those could go down so it would be a massive result if Leeds beat Newcastle or Forest can get something at Chelsea.

Southampton are really in trouble and if they don't beat Fulham this afternoon, they are basically down.

They will be relegated this weekend unless they win AND either Forest or Everton fail to win.

There's also a problem with their inferior goal difference so should Leicester or Leeds win, Southampton could be six points adrift with a huge gap to bridge in goals anyway, even if they win.

Five teams, three relegation spots. It's a very anxious time.
