There will be plenty of celebrations tonight, but then it'll be back to business for Pep Guardiola and his players as they bid to achieve a historic Treble.

  2. Brighton in Europe, Leeds in troublepublished at 19:39 British Summer Time 21 May 2023

Earlier today, Leeds United's Premier League survival hopes were dealt a huge blow in a 3-1 defeat by West Ham.

That defeat means they will be relegated back to the Championship if they fail to beat Spurs on the final day - but even that will not be enough if Everton win their final game against Bournemouth or Leicester pick up four points from their last two matches.

Meanwhile, Brighton confirmed they will play in Europe for the first time after beating Southampton by the same score.

A point from their two remaining matches will confirm a sixth-placed finish for Brighton, but for now victory over their south-coast rivals assures Brighton of a Europa Conference League spot at the very least.

  3. Dortmund one win from Bundesliga titlepublished at 19:34 British Summer Time 21 May 2023

Over in the Bundesliga, Borussia Dortmund have moved on win away from the title following a 3-0 win over Augsburg.

It leaves them two points clear at the top and in a strong position to win the Bundesliga for the first time since 2011-12, while also denying Bayern Munich an 11th-successive title.

Dortmund are at home to Mainz next Saturday, while Thomas Tuchel takes his Bayern side to Koln.

While we wait to see if we can hear from Pep Guardiola, here are a few numbers that highlight Manchester City's impressive surge to the finish line in this season's Premier League:

    • Manchester City have scored in 34 of their 36 league games this season, more often than any other team in the English Premier League this season.
    • Their 12-game winning run is their longest winning streak since January 2022.
    • City have scored in each of their last 15 league games - their longest scoring streak this season - scoring 40 goals in that run.
    • At the back, they have kept a clean sheet in 13 of their 36 games - a number bettered only by Liverpool (14) and Manchester United (17).

    Manchester City

Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live: "It's an amazing feeling [winning the league].

"Everybody has supported me through a tough season and we've got there in the end. Everyone around the club is amazing and that's why we've won the league.

"The celebrations that we've had tonight will be in my mind forever and will push me on for next season.

"I haven't dreamt of it [winning the treble].

"Now we can turn our attention to the next trophy. Everyone wants the Champions League, it's the one at the top of the list and the one the lads speak about it the most.

"Some of the lads here have won five Premier League titles but this is my first.

"Pep has won so much in his career and if he can lead us to this treble he will be a happy man and will go down as the ghreatest manager in the world. I don't just want to win it for myself but also for him."

    Chris Sutton
Former Chelsea striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

What can you say about Frank [Lampard]? Nine games, seven losses and they are below Crystal Palace in the table.

It has been an embarrassing season and they haven't gelled under him.

Now it's about what happens next season and can a new manager get them together.

It's difficult, even under Mauricio Pochettino, to see them challenging at the top of the table.

Manchester City defender Rico Lewis speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live: "It hasn't really sunk in yet. It's unbelievable that I'm on the pitch with these top quality players. I've dreamt of it since being a kid and now it has come true.

"It's so easy for me to learn from them. I'm playing with world class players and the best manager in the world. I just have to listen and learn. It's amazing to be next to them every day.

"The message for next season will be that we have to go again and I'm happy to follow that. It's never really enough. I want more.

"You don't know how this season will finish but we want to make history.

"Even just going to the finals and being part of it is going to be incredible. This is something I've dreamt of since I was four, five, six years old. You see people do it on TV and now I've been able to experience it."

The next challenge for City is emulating Manchester United's Treble.

United, in 1998-99, are the only club to have previously achieved the Treble in English football - winning the league, FA Cup and Champions League in a single season.

It is their derby rivals who will try and stop City doing so in the FA Cup at Wembley on 3 June.

Then, a week later, it's Inter Milan in Istanbul, where they will hunt a first Champions League triumph.

    A huge few weeks ahead.

What more can be said about Pep Guardiola?

This is the Spaniard's 11th league title in 14 seasons as a manager - a spell which takes in his time at Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Manchester City.

It is the third occasion he has managed to win three league titles in a row, having also done so in La Liga from 2009-11 and in the Bundesliga from 2014-16.

Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson is the only other manager to have ever won three successive English titles.

"Now we can enjoy it with our fans and think about the FA Cup final and Champions League final. We want to win all three. We are going to work a lot and will do our best to get those trophies.

"We will be competitive and be respectful for our final two games in the Premier League. If we switch off the it will be difficult to switch back on for the two finals.
