City are playing in first gear and it looks like an exhibition.

It's not a surprise though because they just need to get through the rest of these Premier League games without picking up any injuries.

Might sound controversial but i honestly think Alvarez is as good if not better than haaland. If Alvarez was starting for city this season over haaland he would have also scored that many goals. His goals per game/minute ratio is insane.

Arsenal never stood a chance. City have locked in the league title and with all eyes now on the FA Cup and Champions League finals…it’s terrifying City can name an almost new XI and that can still beat most opponents…it’s unnatural.

Normal service appears to have resumed following that Chelsea chance. Pep Guardiola isn't too pleased on the touchline as we head towards half-time.

Cesar Azpilicueta must be fed up with Cole Palmer already.

The Chelsea skipper concedes a free-kick and Phil Foden will send a cross in from the left, but it's booted straight back out.

We’re seeing Man City NextGen here - and it looks good. Foden in centre midfield looks like the position-player that we’ve all imagined he can be.

    Man City 1-0 Chelsea

    Clinton Morrison
Former Republic of Ireland striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Chelsea have just tweaked it a little. Conor Gallagher has gone to the right and Raheem Sterling is on the left.

It's causing a few problems for City, who are getting a bit sloppy now.

Encouraging stuff for Chelsea after a passive start to this match. Manchester City maybe got a bit too comfortable.

This is a really good spell for Chelsea, their first of the match, and it almost leads to an equaliser.

Sterling made a really good run in behind but that shot just wasn't convincing enough. Sterling would love to score today.

It's a very good save from Ortega, he's a really good goalkeeper.

This Chelsea team look so disjointed and don't look as if they trust each other they're devoid of ideas it's actually quite shocking to see and alittle sad we're just cutting through the midfield at will.

    Colin CTID

I'm almost at the point of feeling sorry for Frank Lampard. He's desperate to succeed as a football manager and obviously wants to do whatever he can for Chelsea, but he's just hopeless.

    James, St Albans

Maybe next year City still get to play 38 games but the other teams get 42? Or for each hat-trick scored they mandatorily have to make a substitution? Might be a bit closer then.... I’ll email FIFA, leave it with me.

    Man City 1-0 Chelsea

Win today and Manchester City are seven points clear of Arsenal - who they trailed for so long this season - and still with a game in hand.

It's been a relentless charge to the finish by Pep Guardiola's side.

A rare sight. Chelsea get the ball into the City box, but Raheem Sterling hits the first defender as he tries to cut the ball back for a team-mate.

    Man City 1-0 Chelsea

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Etihad Stadium

Chelsea interim manager Frank Lampard has turned away in disgust on a couple of occasions when his players have failed to complete even the simplest of short passes. Symptomatic of their season.

  20. CLOSE!published at 29 mins

    Man City 1-0 Chelsea

    That would've been some finish!

Kalvin Phillips finds Phil Foden with a superb ball over the Chelsea defence and Foden just tries to loft the ball over Kepa Arrizabalaga and into the far top corner.

    Just misses the target.
