Congrats to City. I was dreading what the result would be but Man Utd did at least compete for most of the game. Still a long way to go to reach City's levels, but we’ve definitely made progress under ten Hag. A new elite level striker and goalkeeper are a must in the transfer window. IMO De Gea should have saved both of those goals.

Manchester City and their treble looking likely now. Manchester United were just not there today and records are there to be broken. You've got to let them have it. Good luck to them.

    Simon

Congrats, City. The better team, the scoreline was representative. Great 1st goal when the planets aligned, and De Gea, back on his heels, could not get moving. De Gea should have done much better with the 2nd. Penalty was lawful but harsh. United need to learn to at least hit the target to have a chance on these games.

    Manchester City

Manchester City captain and match winner Ilkay Gundogan, speaking to BBC Sport: "To win a final is always special. Every trophy is special. This group deserves it. We played really well, second half was amazing and we deserved to lift another trophy.

"Obviously we know how we want to play the kick off and we aim to do that, to go long for Erling and try to get a second ball. It just placed amazingly for me and I just had to hit it. Obviously it was a quite good strike."

On his future: "I don't need these kind of days to feel appreciated and feel special in this club. I know that and that is why I have been here seven years. Nothing is decided yet, we will see what will happen."

Mike Crew: The most disappointing and frustrating thing about that was the two goals we conceded were as they say “highly preventable".

Another day another win, just another day in the office for City. But credit United.

    Tarporley Blue

No bad feelings about losing to a city team of this quality, United have come on leaps and bounds since last season. Big couple of signings (maybe a nice number 9 from north London) and continue upwards. The future is positive.

Man City fans have the bragging rights and the better team. They are miles clear of them they dictated the game and deserved the win. The best team won on the day and Manchester is blue.

Garnacho has been our best playing in my opinion. He’s just not got the experience.

    Ollie, Manchester

United left it far too late. City haven't been at their best, but you have to pressurise the opponents in the key moments. United's passing has been wayward, their movement too sluggish, and most importantly, they've not even worked the goalkeeper. You're never going to win in those circumstances.
