Millie Bright knows darn well how good Oshoala is.

Technically sound, a great finisher, a massive threat for Nigeria to bring on at this stage of the game.

Rachel Daly gets herself into the box to meet a cross from the right. Her volley isn't clean and the ball spins wide.

It was a nicely worked little move from the initial throw to create that chance.

Huge cheers for Nigeria's superstar Asisat Oshoala. The two-time Champions League winner with Barcelona had an impressive impact when she came on against Australia. England have looked shaky and this won't help.

Final passing from the England girls is appalling. Bronze, Daley, Carter all guilty of it. Nigeria still making the better chances and look fitter and sharper. We could well follow the USA out here.

The England vs China game kicked off literally at the same time as my wife and I’s wedding, prompting floods of updates through the ceremony as each goal was banged in…. Are we jinxing things from our honeymoon now as the Lionnesses are on the ropes?

  8. 'Best chance for England'published at 09:46 British Summer Time 7 August 2023

    England 0-0 Nigeria

    Rachel Brown-Finnis
    Ex-England goalkeeper on BBC One

That is a wonderful delivery from Alex Greenwood, pinpoint.

The pace on it, Russo just needed to get a clean contact on it. That is the best chance of the game for England.

    Chance!

Alessia Russo charges in to meet a great, whipped free-kick from Alex Greenwood. She's too fast, because the ball is behind her when she gets there and she can only head wide.

England's first decent chance for a good while.

Nigeria are quicker to most balls and stronger when they get hold of it.

They come at England again and send over a low cross from the right that Ifeoma Onumonu can't convert under pressure from Millie Bright, who just does enough.

  13. 'England need to stretch Nigeria back line'published at 09:42 British Summer Time 7 August 2023

    England 0-0 Nigeria

    Karen Bardsley
Former England and Manchester City goalkeeper on BBC Radio 5 Live

Nigeria struggle to manage their defensive line when there are balls played in behind.

We haven't seen much of that from England yet.

It would be good to see Russo or more Hemp pushing that line back, and the other sitting in that number ten space with James.

The corner is swung over and met by Ashleigh Plumptre, but she is moving away from goal and can only glance her header off target. A team-mate fails to keep the ball in.

Only Spain (5 times) have hit the woodwork more often at the 2023 Women's World Cup than Nigeria (3).

The Super Falcons continue to drive forward. They have a corner.

Uchenna Kanu is doing a fine job on top for Nigeria. When the ball is sent up there, more often than not it sticks. She's giving the England defence plenty to be concerned about.

Poor pass. Rachel Daly is found in acres of space on the left but her pass towards Lauren Hemp is too heavy and runs through to the Nigeria keeper.

That's twice Nigeria have hit the crossbar... Both times there's been an awkward silence by the majority of the England fans behind the opposite goal.
