  1. 'Sweden so close to punishing Spain'published at 09:58 British Summer Time 15 August 2023

    HT: Spain 0-0 Sweden

    Fara Williams
Former England midfielder on BBC One

Spain are far too slow on the ball and that is giving Sweden, who are very aggressive defensively, the chance to nick it off them and break.

They could end up being punished in the second half.

I think Sweden are very close to breaking down this Spain team, I did call them to win before the game.

This is a tactical game, but Sweden need to use the ball when they are able to get possession. Not dissimilar to the men's teams; Spain lots of possession, Sweden defending well. If Spain score Sweden will have change their approach.

Sweden's substitutes are out on the pitch encouraging their team-mates as they walk off, while Spain's players sprint towards the dressing room. It's approaching 9pm in Auckland. We could be in for a long night if this goes to extra-time and penalties. Just one attempt on target in the opening 45 minutes.

  4. 'Sweden need that bit of quality on transition'published at 09:53 British Summer Time 15 August 2023

    HT: Spain 0-0 Sweden

    Alex Scott
Former England and Arsenal defender on BBC One

You can see a few times Sweden have got three versus three on the counter.

The press is great and then they are very good on the transition, then it is just about picking the right passes at the right times.

They need that bit of quality or magic in the final third.

  5. 'Still too tough to call'published at 09:48 British Summer Time 15 August 2023

    HT: Spain 0-0 Sweden

    Sue Smith
Former England international on BBC One

As expected it has been a very tight and cagey game.

Still a tough one to call, a couple of opportunities but not many.

  6. HALF-TIMEpublished at 09:47 British Summer Time 15 August 2023

    Spain 0-0 Sweden

Well, a nervy first half comes to an end.

Spain have had the majority of the possession but it's been a defensively solid performance from Sweden and we've just seen a glimpse of their threat towards the end of that half with the set pieces.

    All to play for.

  7. 'There is the Swedish threat'published at 09:46 British Summer Time 15 August 2023

Sweden are just such a threat from set pieces.

A great delivery from Andersson, right onto the goalkeeper, but Cata Coll does enough.

Unfortunate for Blackstenius that she didn't get a clean shot away.

    Spain 0-0 Sweden

We'll have just one minute of added time at the end of a cagey first half.

Jonna Andersson's deliveries are so dangerous, she swings them right under the goalkeeper.

Sweden have finally come into this first half.

It's building up to be a real contest.

Jonna Andersson swings it in right on the top of the goalkeeper, who punches away but only as far as Stina Blackstenius.

The Arsenal forward can't get a proper shot off but momentum has shifted slightly at Eden Park.

Fridolina Rolfo denied by her Barcelona team-mate Cata Coll who had not started a senior game for Spain before this tournament.

Fridolina Rolfo just wanted to connect with it on the volley.

She needed to smash that ball so hard that the keeper went in the net with it as well.

  13. 'Big chance'published at 09:44 British Summer Time 15 August 2023

    Spain 0-0 Sweden

    Sue Smith
Former England international on BBC One

    Big chance for Sweden.

Poor defending from Spain, good pressure from Sweden capitalising on a mistake from Spain playing the ball out from the back.

Rolfo does well to shift her feet but can't quite get the connection she wants on the finish, and it is a good save in the end.

Sweden have a corner, remember most of their goals have come from a set piece...

  15. CLOSE!published at 42 mins

    First big chance for Sweden!

Spain try to play the ball out from the back but it's sloppy and Nathalie Bjorn picks it up on the edge of the area, she picks out Fridolina Rolfo at the back post but the Barcelona forward can't get her feet sorted properly and it's not as strong an effort as she would've hoped.

Good save down to the right from Cata Coll, though.

You can't sit off a player like Aitana Bonmati.

She will get on the half turn and strike from distance, she has the ability to find the back of the net from distance.

Sweden have a free-kick as Stina Blackstenius is brought down in the middle of the park. Can they make something out of this?

    Spain 0-0 Sweden

    Sue Smith

I think this Spain lineup is very strong, even without Paralluelo.

For her it will be a case of coming on and trying to make an impact from the bench later on in the game.

Aitana Bonmati wiggles herself into a bit of space, she gets a powerful right-foot shot off but it flies wide of the goalpost.

Thumbs up from Bonmati to team-mate Mariona Caldentey, she wants more of those.

Perfect example of Sweden winning the ball back and just giving it back straight away.

Aitana Bonmati plays a wayward pass through the middle of the park and Fridolina Rolfo picks it up but immediately plays it back to Spanish feet.

They have just lacked a bit of composure in possession.
