The first thought was that the defender looked like she was trying to win that foul. I don't think there was contact.
Australia 0-1 England
England win the ball back high up the pitch and launch a counter.
A deep cross from Rachel Daly finds Lauren Hemp whose diving header is stopped by the boot of Australia keeper Mackenzie Arnold.
It wouldn't have counted, with Hemp fouling her defender as the cross came in. But it's another warning sign from the Lionesses.

I won't be able to see that Ella Toone strike enough times. Beautiful.

Benjamin Watts: Tooney! Pick that one out.

Australia aren't shaken by this, they haven't changed anything tactically and continue to push.
Mary Fowler sees Caitlin Foord running down the right but her ball over the top has too much pace on it and skids out for a goal kick.

Look how Australia are being pinned back and how high Millie Bright and Alex Greenwood are.
England's tails are up.

The only time Australia have been behind this tournament, they've lost.
3-2 against Nigeria in the groups.

Well that goal has certainly quietened the crowd at Stadium Australia. They even booed when Ella Toone's name was announced as the goalscorer. Or maybe they were shouting "Tooooone"?

What a finish! Ella Toone absolutely loves the big stage.
She scored that superb chip in the final at Euro 2022 and now she's scored the opener - another stunning strike - in the World Cup semi-final.
It's a buzz kill for the fans here in the stadium and they have been growing more impatient as the half has gone on, whistling every time England have the ball.
The game plan is working to perfection so far from England.
Australia 0-1 England
Straight down the other end Australia have a chance to bounce back.
Katrina Gorry has a go from range but her shot is straight at England keeper Mary Earps.

Sumptuous play, good build up from England.
What about that! Strike through the ball. Top bins, side netting.
That is the way to answer any criticism that Ella Toone has had this tournament, I am delighted for her.
Australia 0-1 England
England have never lost a World Cup game after going in front.
Still, there is a very long way to go.

I'm just loving looking around and seeing all these stunned Australian faces.
Well worked by Alessia Russo in the corner, nice dummy from Lauren Hemp and it is struck so sweetly into the top corner by Ella Toone.
Beautiful strike. Mackenzie Arnold had no chance!
Ella Toone
THAT IS SOME GOAL!
England silence Stadium Australia as the ball rolls past Alessia Russo straight into the path of Ella Toone.
The angle is tight, she's surrounded by yellow shirts, but she gets her head down and buries the ball into the corner.
England have the advantage.
Australia 0-0 England
Over the last few minutes, Australia have stepped up a gear.
England are dropping off. The Lionesses fan in me doesn't like this.

You see how quick Australia break. Five players with Ellie Carpenter, when Jess Carter lost the ball.
They knew that was their chance.

England going in hard with their tackles and letting the Aussies know that they're up for a fight. Great strategy from the Weigmeister. Come on England!!!

Is it just me or is this referee only giving fouls against England? Seem every Australia foul is being overlooked.
Anon
Ref giving everything Australia's way. Supposedly they've only committed 1 foul in the first 28 minutes...
