We asked you to pick the best Champions League final ever and 62% went of you went for the 'Miracle of Istanbul' when Liverpool beat AC Milan on penalties in 2005.

Will we get a repeat today in Istanbul?

Fun fact - Scott Carson was on the bench then and today.

Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan has arrived with a fleet of cars that Joe Biden would be proud of.

Here was I thinking he would come through the VIP bit. Forget that.

Probably about eight massive vehicles rocked up, with security. Dozens of people were marched straight through the main entrance.

None of these cars were here before Erdogan arrived.

    Manchester City fans

Fans who arrived outside Depot Mayfield here in Manchester three hours before kick-off were already chanting.

I’m told tonight’s watch-along event is a 6,000 sell-out inside this lively warehouse venue, with a sea of sky blue also including Norwegian flags and a giant cardboard cut-out of Kevin de Bruyne.

There is no questioning how much Manchester City and their fans want this trophy, but a few of the supporters I’ve spoken to say their biggest concern is that emotions run high and this ends up being a nervy, scrappy game.

In any other team, Ilkay Gundogan would be the superstar. It's just unfortunate or fortunate for him that he's playing for Manchester City.

In the dressing room, I'm sure the players absolutely adore him.

"The phone rang," recounted Giancarlo Inzaghi, father of Inter Milan boss Simone. "It was Romelu Lukaku."

"My son tried to convince him," Inzaghi Sr told Gazzetta dello Sport. "'Here, you are the king. It will be different in London.'"

It was too late. The Belgium striker had decided he was going back to Chelsea, much to coach Inzaghi's disappointment.

"It was like losing three players in one fell swoop," he moaned to his father following Lukaku's move in 2021, only three months after Inzaghi joined Inter.

Inzaghi arrived with hopes of continuing the marvellous work of predecessor Antonio Conte. The aim was to win back-to-back titles but, with big-name departures, including Lukaku, Inter missed out on the Scudetto.

    Another nice stat.

The 22 players in the starting line-ups today represent 15 different countries.

This is a new record in a Champions League final (14 different nationalities in 2005 and 2022).
