City’s team bus just pulled into the stadium, surrounded by cheering fans punching the air, chanting and waving flags.

It was more difficult than expected though, the space between the fans’ walkway and the police’s technical point was so tight the bus got stuck and had to keep reversing back and forth to make the turn and drive inside.

I had a brief chat with two-time Champions League winner Edwin van der Sar earlier.

He won the trophy with Ajax and Manchester United and played in five Champions League finals.

"City are the team that everyone thinks is going to win," he said.

"Maybe Inter are one of the few teams that can cope with that kind of football. Let’s see what happens - if City will get the famous Treble and their neighbours have to share that honour."

I asked if it would bother ex-United goalkeeper Van der Sar if City joined them as Treble winners.

"If you are Ryan Giggs or Gary Neville maybe. I had an amazing time there, when they play City, I would rather United win.

"But I think the way City play football in a positive way, the team they have assembled and, of course, the manager, it’s fine.

"Obviously Inter have two Dutch players and Andre Onana is a player that is really close to my heart. We had him at Ajax at a young age. He developed there and we stayed in contact. I hope for him, I hope he will lift the trophy."

Inter, under former manager Jose Mourinho, knocked Pep Guardiola's Barcelona out in the semi-finals on the way to winning a treble of their own in 2010, but this will be the Italians' first meeting with City.

"This is the finish. The Champions League is an incredible competition," added Guardiola.

"It's absolutely a dream, yes. To achieve things you always have to have the correct proportion of obsession and desire.

"It's a positive word, willingness to try to do it, of course."

I mentioned earlier that the traffic situation in Istanbul was atrocious.

Thankfully Manchester City have arrived but some fans have got stuck and have abandoned their cabs and trying to make it on foot instead.

It is a fair distance to the centre. There has to be a good chance some won’t make it.

There is a police helicopter circling overhead but not sure if it is analysing traffic or potential trouble spots.

Manchester City make two changes from the FA Cup final, one expected and one not so much.

Ederson replaces Stefan Ortega, who was their FA Cup keeper, but Kyle Walker drops to the bench with Nathan Ake taking his place.

Sarah in Sutton Coldfield: Having a BBQ, got the TV ready for the game. I'm a big Villa fan but I really want Man City to win tonight. They're an English club and my husband to-be, who I get married to in 12 weeks in Gran Canaria, supports Man City. I'm going for 3-1 to City with Harland x2 and Grealish. Come on City, bring it back to England.

The first strains of Manchester City's "Blue Moon" anthem are heard inside The Ataturk Stadium as the atmosphere builds ahead of the Champions League Final against Inter Milan.

Some City fans also broke into warm applause when the face of Inter Milan striker Edin Dzeko, who was so influential when they won the Premier League dramatically on the last day of the season in 2012, flashed up on the big screens.

Sat with my 1 year old in Dubai watching BBC build up. She’s determined not to sleep. Time difference means nothing to her - we will both be watching the match and cheering on city. And then staying up longer if she has anything to do with it.

Even if Manchester City win the Champions League, Pep Guardiola won't be totally happy - and it's Noel Gallagher's fault.

"Pep is always trying to get me to bring a guitar to a big game, so I can play in the dressing room afterwards," Gallagher explained to BBC Sport.

"I went into see him after the Real Madrid game [in the semi-finals] and told him I couldn't be at the FA Cup final or the Champions League final and, honestly, he gave me a look of utter disgust.

"It was with real contempt, as if to say 'well what the hell are you doing instead then?' I said 'I am on tour' and he said 'cancel it!'

"I said 'I can't, I've sold the tickets now', and he was like 'ahh, get out' and he almost launched me out of his office. He probably treated me the same way he did Joao Cancelo when he got rid of him in January."

  15. 'A dangerous game for City'published at 18:23 British Summer Time 10 June 2023

This is a dangerous game for City. Inter Milan are giants of European football but at this moment in time, Pep Guardiola's side are far superior.

Everyone expects City to win it but, at the back of Guardiola's mind there must be the thought that they have been in this situation in this competition before - when everyone has expected them to beat lesser teams, and they haven't managed it.

City's history in the Champions League since Guardiola took charge in 2016 does make you wonder whether they will somehow miss out again, but this could be seventh time lucky for him. It should be.

    Sutton's prediction: 4-0

Jamie: Everyone speaks of Real Madrid’s history in the competition, and how it helps them. With Inters' own, albeit lesser history, do they have something City don’t? History? And does that help in a final? Lots of ex-players say a club’s history adds to the occasion.

There is a grand piano on the Champions League carpet near the players' tunnel. Maybe the opening ceremony will be a more serene, classical affair than the mystfying over-blown nonsense Uefa has come up with in the past.

Don't hold your breath on that one.
