For all the control City have been searching for, in the second half there was no control whatsoever. But yet again they won the trophy.

This is for all the games in the last seasons they've deserved to win, Lyon, Spurs, Real Madrid last year.

Rodri has to be the player of the season. If you look at the key moments he's been an incredible play.

Pep Guardiola has now won two trebles. That is why he is the greatest manager of all time.

Anon: Manchester is blue!!!!! Pep has arguably built the greatest team in football at the moment, it was a bit disappointing to not see the robot score but we saw that in the moments that matter, the better team wins and today the team without a doubt won their individual battles and ultimately won the game. Well done Pep.

Taj: Well, City have finally reached the promised land. I have to give credit to them. From division 2 in 1999 to champions league winners 23 years later, City fans deserve this moment. Pep has revolutionised this club. Congratulations from a Liverpool fan!

Alex: As a Chelsea fan, Pep dropping Rodri for the 2021 final lost them them the game and enabled kante to run the show. Starting him tonight won them the treble. Deserved.

  6. 'It was written in the stars'published at 22:57 British Summer Time 10 June 2023

FT: Man City 1-0 Inter Milan

    Manchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola to BT Sport: "Tired. Calm. Satisfied. It's so difficult to win it.

"They are really good. Be patient, I said at half-time. You have to be lucky. Ederson or they miss it, they could draw. This competition is a coin.

"It was written in the stars. It belongs to us.

"We weren't at our best level. After the World Cup the team made a step forward and we were there. It wasn't our best performance.

"I don't have any energy to think about next season, it's impossible. We need a break, it's too long.

"Our players have international games now. Uefa and Fifa, think about it. The Premier League finished two or three weeks ago, now people have to come back. It's too much. We will start from zero next season.

"We're going to celebrate in the hotel with family and friends. Monday the parade is in Manchester. With this competition, the treble is so difficult."

It confirms Pep Guardiola is the greatest. He changes the way we look at football. He's an innovator. He puts people in different positions he makes it work.

He improves every player he works with and if someone doesn't want to work with him, he gets them out the team.

He installs a great team spirit, Jack Grealish and Erling Haaland have talked about it. Tonight the spirit got him over the line.

City midfielder Kevin de Bruyne talking to BT Sport: "It has been a hard two months. I had a lot of problems with my hamstring and it snapped.

"The team was good enough though and we won. We have been working so long for this, it is amazing.

"We have not lost in the Champions League this year. It was not the best game but now is the time to celebrate."

  12. 'I said my dream is in your hands'published at 22:38 British Summer Time 10 June 2023

FT: Man City 1-0 Inter Milan

    Manchester City

City defender Kyle Walker to BT Sport: "I'm over the moon. I'm rarely speechless. My dream has come true, to achieve this with this club. To achieve a Treble is unbelievable.

"I'm always going to be disappointed when I'm not playing but I'm 33. My example sets to the younger lads. I made a speech before they went out. This club means so much to me. To experience what I've experienced, I'm forever in debt.

"I said my dream is in your hands. No pressure. You can't say Inter deserved it more than we did or we deserved it more than they did. We're both here by merit. There has to be a loser.

"Emotions played a part. The occasion is obviously going to get to you. I got a silver one last time so to get a gold one is fantastic.

"I'm living the dream. My mum and dad are in the stands. From where I come from in Sheffield it's not easy. I remember when my mum didn't have a pound for the ice cream van. To have this with them, I'm so thankful."

  13. 'We've set the bar high now'published at 22:35 British Summer Time 10 June 2023

FT: Man City 1-0 Inter Milan

    Manchester City

Manchester City's John Stones speaking to BT Sport: "It was the thing we were missing. I feel so pleased. It's a pleasure to be a part of this team and create this history.

"We're only the second team to do the Treble. Both are so special in their own rights in different eras. I'm holding words back because I'm on camera, put it that way.

"We've set the bar high now. After this season, from where we were in the Premier League, to bring it back, win the FA Cup then come here and win this, I can't put it into words.

"I played more like a No. 8 today which I loved. I'm still learning. I don't think I'm the best there but I gave it my all. I thought it paid off. We created chances and there were key moments. Ederson saved that one at the end. Now we can have a good chat about us actually winning this."

On celebration plans: "I have no idea. I think I have doping testing so it's a great start to my night!"

Rodri is one of the best midfielders in world football. He does what he says on the tin. Can you imagine the tips and tricks he must have got from Pep Guardiola. Rodri must remind Pep Guardiola of him.

Manchester City will have an open-top parade through the city on Monday.

The players and staff will depart from Tonman Street, Deansgate, at 18:30 BST and travel to St Mary’s Gate. The parade will then travel through Cross Street and King Street, before finishing on Princess Street where a live stage show will take place.

I believe you can follow that on BBC Sport.

    Chris Sutton
Former Chelsea striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

It was a wonderful piece of composure from Rodri. City were disappointing, they're normally so devastating and controlled. That was the one piece of control they had in the game.

I quite enjoy the way City won this tonight. They did it a different way tonight through personality and character.

It was all about City getting over the line tonight. They've done it. Historic Treble.

  17. 'Treble debate will start now'published at 22:29 British Summer Time 10 June 2023

FT: Man City 1-0 Inter Milan

    John Murray
Commentator on BBC Radio 5 Live

The Treble. The Treble. The sainted Treble.

They're up there, it's on the same podium as Manchester United. This Manchester City team, the goals, the play, the innovation.

To reach the target and to win those three trophies. In my opinion the two teams are neck and neck. But the debate will start now.

FT: Man City 1-0 Inter Milan

    Manchester City

Manchester City captain Ilkay Gundogan to BT Sport: "Unbelievable. Difficult to put in words. Today we made history,

"It was difficult for both teams. We weren't at our best in the first half. We were hesitating. We knew we had to do better in the second.

"It was probably a 50-50 game. We feel very fortunate it was for us.

"We knew everyone was talking about the Treble. The pressure was there but this team is built to handle the pressure in the best possible way."
