  1. 'Nervy in early minutes'published at 17 mins

    Celtic 0-0 Rangers

    Leanne Crichton
    Ex-Scotland international on BBC Scotland

Celtic are forcing Rangers to go long, looking to win it back and then they have good numbers up the pitch.

Both sets of players are just looking to get a feel for it. It can be nervy in the early minutes of games like this.

They're also getting used to the pitch. I saw some players complaining it was a bit dry, which it can be on a sunny day like today.

She can carve out the biggest chance of the game so far!

Jacynta's delivery is deep and kept alive by Natasha Flint at the back stick. Chloe Craig goes for the acrobatic attempt with Rangers scrambling, but her effort drops wide.

Maria McAneny gets a cute ball round the corner which Hannah Davison has to thump behind for a corner.

What can Jacynta do this time?

Victoria Esson had to be on her toes there.

Unorthodox corner from Jacynta almost catches the Rangers goalkeeper out, with Esson grateful watching the ball float inches over the bar and onto the roof of the net.

Lovely ball in there for Tessel Middag, who is quite the set-piece specialist.

No Rangers player can meet the ball, but a bit of a warning sign for Celtic to take stock of.

It really is odd not seeing Fran is his white jacket.

Must be a nightmare to wash though. Don't blame him.

  8. 'Not an awful lot between the sides'published at 6 mins

    Celtic 0-0 Rangers

    Leanne Crichton
    Ex-Scotland international on BBC Scotland

It'll be a very tight game. There's not an awful lot between the sides, there hasn't been all season and that won't change this afternoon.

Both sides are desperate to end this season on a high, for different reasons. Malky Thomson will have his side drilled, looking to finish his Rangers reign on a high. Celtic want their first silverware of the season.

  9. Postpublished at 5 mins

    Celtic 0-0 Rangers

Neither side has really managed to get much of a foot on the ball so far.

An Old Firm Scottish Cup Final was always going to start off a wee bit cagey.

As if this fixture needed anymore fire...

I must admit, though, there was some heat coming off those fireworks and it's needed across here in the Hampden shade.

All that matters, though, is that the fans are across there in the Hampden sunshine. Some sight.

    Here. We. Go.

Celtic against Rangers in the Scottish Cup Final.

Who will be soaking up the glory in a couple of hours? Only one way to find out...

  13. 'Rangers have strength in depth'published at 13:31 British Summer Time 28 May 2023

    Celtic v Rangers (13:30)

    Leanne Crichton
    Ex-Scotland international on BBC Scotland

Rangers are a really good side on their day. They've got that strength in depth. Sam Kerr would be a brilliant addition if she comes off the bench.

It's a huge boost to have Watson back available after that wrist injury.

In those full-back areas as well, they create overloads in the wide areas. Brogan Hay, the Player of the Year, is a real threat. Rachel McLauchlan is a huge asset and Kristy Howat bags you plenty of goals.

And what a roar they're met by! The fireworks are off, the place is buzzing.

    It's Scottish Cup Final time.

    Celtic v Rangers (13:30)

    Julie Fleeting
Former Scotland striker on BBC Scotland

Celtic have a massive threat at set-plays, so it will be a big afternoon for Esson in goals for Rangers.

She'll need to show her presence, coming for crosses and trying to manager her box against Celtic.

  16. No white jacket for Fran Alonso today...published at 13:27 British Summer Time 28 May 2023

    Celtic v Rangers (13:30)

Celtic manager Fran Alonso tells BBC Scotland: "It's been an incredible season, regardless of what happens today I'm extremely proud of them. For me, they are already winners - whether they have silverware or not.

"I just want them to enjoy the occasion, the atmosphere. The whole country today is looking at them and they have the opportunity to shine, to make memories that will last forever.

"The white jacket is in the bad books! Although we won and played well, we were two minutes away from achieving our dream and didn't, so for the time being it's in the bad books. Maybe it'll make an appearance if we win."

  17. Players should 'enjoy' final, says Thompsonpublished at 13:25 British Summer Time 28 May 2023

    Celtic v Rangers (13:30)

Rangers boss Malky Thompson tells BBC Scotland: "It's been a great journey and I've thoroughly enjoyed it.

"The girls have worked so hard to put themselves in the situations where they could have possible retained the title, they've already won one cup and they're in the final of another. it's testament to them.

"Enjoy it. Go out and enjoy it. You've worked hard to get to this stage Go out and grace the park. Soak every bit of it in because not everybody gets the chance to play at the national stadium. Let the football take care of its self.

Asked what he expects from the opposition today, he simply quips: "I hope they don't win."

  18. 'Surprised Kerr isn't starting'published at 13:23 British Summer Time 28 May 2023

    Celtic v Rangers (13:30)

    Rachel Corsie
    Scotland defender on BBC Scotland

All of us have grown up as football fans. Hampden is the national stadium, it's the pinnacle.

It's brilliant to know that an occasion like today will be hosted at Hampden and more players will get the chance to play at this prestigious stadium.

I'm surprised Sam Kerr isn't starting. We thought there might be an injury, but she ran out the tunnel looking fine.

That said, Middag, MacLean, and Cornet offer plenty of experience, have played a lot of minutes and contributed a lot this season.

  19. Derby deadlockpublished at 13:22 British Summer Time 28 May 2023

    Celtic v Rangers (13:30)

Today's final will be the fifth time the Old Firm rivals have locked horns in competitive fixtures this season, with no clear favourite emerging across the meetings so far.

Both sides have enjoyed a win apiece, while there's been two draws in the remaining encounters.

Celtic routed Rangers at the Excelsior Stadium back in February as Caitlin Hayes scored a brace either side of an Amy Gallacher finish.

There was a measure of revenge for Malky Thompson's side earlier this month though, with Kirsty Howat's goal enough to give Rangers a first derby win of the campaign.

  20. Celtic's path to the finalpublished at 13:21 British Summer Time 28 May 2023

    Celtic v Rangers (13:30)

Similarly, Celtic were able to flex their muscle in the early rounds as they made a commanding charge for Hampden

Falkirk were the first to be cast aside as Fran Alonso's side scored nine, before Boromoughmuir Thistle and Hearts both shipped five, though the latter were able to net a consolation goal in response.

The holders knew they were in for a far sterner test when they met Glasgow City in the semi-final, but it was Natasha Flint's cool finish early in the first period that proved enough as Celtic set up a showpiece Old Firm final.

Can they go all the way again today?
