    Celtic v Rangers (13:30)

Yet to concede a goal, and they've stuck 32 goals past their opposition in just four games in the Scottish Cup. It's been an imperious march to the final for Rangers this season.

11 past University of Stirling, 13 past Rossvale, six past Hibs. Ruthless stuff.

Motherwell put in a commendable effort in the semi-finals, though Hannah Davison's first-half header and Chelsea Cornet's late clincher saw Rangers through to a first Scottish Cup final since 2010.

Will their name be on the trophy for the first time in the club's history today?

    Celtic v Rangers (13:30)

Had you heard of these teams? The Aberdeen Prima Donnas, Cambuslang Hoverettes, Tayside Toppers. I certainly had not.

They're all a part of the long and complicated history of the Scottish Women's Cup. Even the competition's origins are uncertain, making it near impossible to determine just how many winners there have been.

My colleague Clive Lindsay has delved into the archives to chart the course of what is now the premier knockout competition in Scottish women's football. I really do recommend giving it a read.

  3. Holders hope to retainpublished at 13:15 British Summer Time 28 May 2023

    Celtic v Rangers (13:30)

If this final is anything like last year's thrilling encounter, we're in for a cracker.

Celtic's 3-2 victory over Glasgow City proved an incredible advert for the women's game, needing an extra-time winner from Izzy Atkinson to secure the club's first Scottish Cup.

Manager Fran Alonso may be hoping for a less dramatic afternoon, but knows his players can draw from the experience of their triumph.

  4. Cup double in sightpublished at 13:11 British Summer Time 28 May 2023

    Celtic v Rangers (13:30)

Despite last week's league disappointment, Rangers have already tasted silverware this season.

The Light Blues lifted the League Cup back in December as they overcome seven-time winners Hibernian at Tynecastle.

It was Lizzie Arnot's screamer that opened the scoring, before substitute Kirsty Howat added a second.

Will that recent experience pay dividends for Rangers this afternoon?

  5. Title race hangover?published at 13:07 British Summer Time 28 May 2023

    Celtic v Rangers (13:30)

You have to wonder if either side have managed to fully recover, mentally and physically, from last weekend’s dramatic conclusion to the SWPL title race. I’m not sure I have, and I didn’t kick a ball.

The heartbreak will be most long-lasting with Celtic, who thought they had done enough to become champions courtesy of their 2-0 win over Hearts at a packed Parkhead.

However, Glasgow City had other ideas as Lauren Davidson struck in the 92nd minute to secure the club’s 16th league title in stunning fashion, also ending Rangers’ hopes of holding the trophy aloft for the second successive year.

Here’s a shameless plug. If you need a reminder of how the twists and turns unfolded, have a gander of my scribblings on an incredible climax to an incredible season.

  8. Green-fingered Blues managerpublished at 12:56 British Summer Time 28 May 2023

    Celtic v Rangers (13:30)

How does a manager escape the daily pressures of a title race, as well as the expectations of going all the way in both domestic cups?

In Malky Thomspon's case, he enjoys a retreat to his greenhouse to get away from the noise football inevitably brings.

He'll be hoping to lift silverware, as well his pots and flowerbeds, come this afternoon.

Celtic manager Fran Alonso has proved a colourful character in the women's game.

Very much of heart-on-sleeve kinda guy, it's never hard to tell how he's feeling on the touchline.

This week, he spoke to BBC Sport Scotland about never stopping, his family ties and his signature style.

These players may long have dreamed of lifting the Scottish Cup, but until this season, they probably didn't imagine doing so at the national stadium.

This year's competition marks the first-time both the semi-finals and the final have emanated from Hampden Park, the magnitude of which has been buzzed about excitedly by all the players who have been able to step out on the park in the last four.

The clubs are both hoping for a big crowd to add to the spectacle of the final, though beating last week's record domestic attendance of 15,500 at Parkhead may take some doing.

What a week it's been for Maria McAneny.

On Friday, the 18-year-old signed his first professional contract with the club after rising through the academy as part of a modern apprenticeship programme.

On Sunday, she starts in the Scottish Cup Final at Hampden Park. Alright for some.

McAneny replaces Kit Loferski, who was meant to come on as a substitute in the semi-final but was subbed back off without stepping onto the pitch due to a problem with her earring. Aye, really.

  12. Watson among three Rangers changespublished at 12:44 British Summer Time 28 May 2023

    Celtic v Rangers (13:30)

In his final game as Rangers manager, Malky Thomspon makes three changes to the side that lost to Glasgow City last weekend and failed to retain the SWPL title.

Sam Kerr has been a mainstay in the midfield for the Light Blues this season, but she is replaced by 17-year-old Emma Watson. The teenager knows how to make an impact at Hampden, having scored a brace on her international debut at the stadium earlier this year.

Victoria Esson is given the nod in between the sticks as she comes in for Jenna Fife, while Lizzie Arnot drops out for semi-final scorer Chelsea Cornet.

Rangers announced that today's cup final will be the final time manager Malky Thompson leads the team out, ending a three-year affiliation with the women's side.

The 54-year-old is set to return to his role with the club's academy having won Rangers' first SWPL title, a League Cup and taking his side into the Champions League.

  16. First Old Firm Finalpublished at 12:31 British Summer Time 28 May 2023

    Celtic v Rangers (13:30)

The Hampden turf has endured countless Old Firm battles down the years, with a Celtic and Rangers meeting in the Men's Scottish Cup Final far from a rarity.

In the women's game though, it's an entirely different story. Today's clash marks the first time the pair will face of in a final of any kind.

The two giants' investment into the teams in recent years mean that this could be the beginning of a era of dominance in the competition not dissimilar to that of their male counterparts. Whoever lifts the trophy today will hold the bragging rights, and the glory, in a fixture that will go down in the history books.
