  1. Morelos among five leaving Rangerspublished at 11:33 British Summer Time 24 May 2023

    Rangers v Hearts (19:45 BST)

Ryan Kent, Allan McGregor, Alfredo Morelos, Scott Arfield and Filip Helander will all leave Rangers when their contracts expire this summer.

But Steven Davis, who will also be out of contract, remains in discussions with the club about his future. Boss Michael Beale said the midfielder will decide if he will keep playing when he recovers from his ACL injury.

Scotland midfielder Ryan Jack's deal also expired this summer but he signed a one-year extension last week.

Beale suggested the decision over Canada midfielder Arfield was one he agonised over.

"Scott pulls on the heart strings because as a man and a person he's been absolutely fantastic," he said.

"He is adored by the fans as well as players and staff but it was a really amicable on-going conversation around his game-time, players coming in and how the squad will look. A difficult decision, but I think it's right for all parties."

Jose Mourinho needs to be held in the same category as Pep Guardiola, Sir Alex and Arsene Wenger. Won the Champions League with Porto, came to England and dethroned Arsene Wenger's invincible season with arguably a better achievement of conceding only 15 goals in a Premier League season which is bonkers. Treble with Inter Milan and that’s all before he’s managed Real Madrid. Got slandered at United but was undeniably their best manager since Sir Alex and he was the closest to winning a trophy with Spurs until he got axed a few days before. Europa League final next year with Roma, the man breeds winners.

Arsenal's Bukayo Saka speaking to Ian Wright on Sky Sports after he signed his new contract with the Gunners: "It's amazing for them [my family]. They made the sacrifice for me to be here and I'm sure they're happy that I am here. She [my mum] is definitely smiling so it's a really nice moment for all of us.

"When we was in Hale End I was just a kid who wanted to play and enjoy it. As you get older, it gets more serious but when I made my debut, under Unai Emery, I realised I'd done it and achieved that dream. Now it's about staying here and maintaining that."

All eyes will be on the bottom of the table on the final day, with two from Everton, Leicester and Leeds joining bottom side Southampton in the Championship.

Relegation will hit those clubs hard, with a two-thirds reduction in income expected if they go down.

Numerous sources have told BBC Sport Leicester's England international James Maddison is likely to depart the Foxes whatever the outcome on Sunday.

Newcastle had a £40m bid for playmaker rejected last summer and will rank highly as potential suitors this summer.

Meanwhile, reports suggest, external Everton plan to sell midfielder Amadou Onana for £60m to fund their summer transfer plans.

It would represent excellent business for the Toffees, almost doubling their investment on the Belgium international who they signed from Lille for £33m less than a year ago.

    • Brighton have lost 10 of their 11 Premier League games against Manchester City, with the exception being a 3-2 home win in May 2021.
    • There have been 15 instances of a team winning 12 consecutive games in English top-flight history, with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City side accounting for five of those runs (including their current run of 12). They last enjoyed a longer winning run in the Premier League between December 2020 – March 2021 (15).
    • Pascal Gross has scored 26 Premier League goals, the joint-most by a Brighton player in the competition, alongside Glenn Murray and Neal Maupay. In the Seagulls’ history, only Michael Robinson (37) has more goals in the top-flight overall than Gross.

This is how it stands in the Premier League with Manchester City already crowned champions and Brighton already certain of their best season and their first European qualification.

A point tonight would guarantee them Europa League football next season, although that is very likely anyway as they have a massive goal difference advantage over seventh-placed Aston Villa, who they meet at Villa Park on the final day of the season.

Before this evening's Premier League match between Brighton & Hove Albion and Manchester City, Pep Guardiola waxed lyrical about his opposite number, Roberto De Zerbi.

"I congratulate Brighton on their incredible achievement," he said, as the Seagulls guaranteed European football for the first time in their history at the weekend.

"Pay attention to what I'm going to say because I'm pretty convinced I'm right - Roberto De Zerbi is one of the most influential managers in the last 20 years."

Such a statement is high praise, coming from a man who has won trophies everywhere he has managed and could end 2022-23 with a Treble to his name.

It also prompted an intriguing discussion point: who is the most influential manager of the last 20 years?

Brighton manager Roberto de Zerbi is "one of the most influential managers in the last 20 years".

That's the view of Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, who has heaped praise on the Italian ahead of the two sides meeting on Wednesday night.

"I congratulate Brighton on their incredible achievement to get into the Europa League," he said.

"Pay attention to what I'm going to say because I'm pretty convinced I'm right - Roberto de Zerbi is one of the most influential managers in the last 20 years."

Brighton's3-1 winoverSouthamptonon Sunday confirmed European football for the Seagulls next season, and a point from their two remaining games would confirm Europa League qualification.

"There is no team playing in the way they play - it is unique," Guardiola added.

"I had the feeling when he arrived in the Premier League that the impact would be great but I couldn't expect he would do this in this short a time.

"He creates 20-25 chances on average a game. He's better by far than all the opponents, he monopolises the ball in a way I haven't seen for a long, long time."

De Zerbi was also full of admiration for his opposite number after Citysecured their fifth Premier League title in six yearsover the weekend.

"Manchester City are in a fantastic moment in terms of mentality and quality of play... but they have been playing like this for seven years," he said.

"[Pep] helped me a lot in the first period (in England). He was very nice with me.

"[He is] the best coach in the last 30 years."

  20. Absence of Moutinho and Jonny left 'bitter taste in mouth'published at 09:40 British Summer Time 24 May 2023

    Wolverhampton Wanderers

    Matt Cooper, Talking Wolves, external

For a lot of Wolves players, Saturday marked the end of an era and probably the last time they'd have been able to wave goodbye to the Molineux faithful.

Ruben Neves' long-awaited move away looks to be all but done, which most fans would've anticipated happening a long time ago. Adama Traore, who's out of contract at the end of the season, could well have played his last game for the club too. Diego Costa also falls into that category.

Raul Jimenez has been touted for a departure and has fallen out of favour with manager Julen Lopetegui. Fans sang his name throughout the game, but Lopetegui refused to bring Jimenez on, leading to the Mexican throwing his training bib at the bench and storming down the tunnel.

It seems a rather sad end to Jimenez's time at Wolves, and the same can be said about Joao Moutinho and Jonny - who both did not attend the match, despite being fit.

Whether that was not to jeopardise a move to another club, who knows? But it certainly leaves a bitter taste in my mouth considering the support and appreciation fans have given the duo during their time.

Whether Lopetegui succumbs to fan pressure and involves the likes of Jimenez and Moutinho at Arsenal this weekend remains to be seen.
