West Ham are adamant they have no pre-planned price a potential suitor has to hit to buy Declan Rice.

Leaving it to market forces could be an interesting strategy, especially if Rice only wants to join Arsenal.

That knowledge may persuade the Gunners to bid low, even though there are higher offers on the table elsewhere.

After this evening's parade, Rice has a couple of England games to play. It is only after that we will get an idea of how quickly any transfer could move.

“The 28-year-old Colombia international will join on a three-year deal when the midfielder’s current contract ends at Bournemouth.

  7. 'Spurs are too reliant on Kane'published at 14:38 British Summer Time 8 June 2023

    Harry KaneImage source, Getty Images

Asked what Ange Postecoglou should do if Kane says he wants to leave, Richards told BBC Radio 5 Live's Monday Night Club: "He's got to let him go. He's got to get as much money as possible for him and allow Spurs to rebuild their team.

"They're too reliant on Kane. Every time you see who scored for them, it's Kane, Kane, Kane. They need something more.

"Sometimes it's frustrating to watch because he's so good at number 10 but you want him further forward at number nine to cause more trouble but he's having to do everything by himself at times.

"I think it's time now. I'm sure Spurs fans would say 'you've given everything for us, let's get some money for him, just cash in now and start again'.

"Give the new manager some money to work with and let Kane go and really show everyone how good he is in terms of going to that next level."

If Kane stays at Spurs this summer, he could leave at the end of 2023-24 on a free transfer.

"What would you rather do? Get £100m this season or let him go for free next year?" said ex-Manchester City defender Richards.

  9. Owners, keeper and striker - Man Utd's summer prioritiespublished at 14:23 British Summer Time 8 June 2023

Your views bannerImage source, BBC Sport

We asked for your thoughts on where United need to prioritise their efforts this summer.

Here's a flavour of what you said:

Tony: Firstly it has to be sorting out who is going to be the owners for the long term - the sooner the Glazers are out the better. Secondly, David de Gea must leave. He's been a fantastic servant for the club, but is making too many costly mistakes. Thirdly, we need to lose the players who simply cannot step up to the challenge when asked.

Martin :A goalkeeper is a priority, plus a midfield playmaker. Above all else, a centre forward.

Gary: A proper number nine as we haven't had one since Ruud van Nistelrooy. A right-footed attacking winger to complement Alejandro Ganacho on the left wing. Antony isn't best suited to the right wing as he's too one dimensional. Another defensive midfielder to replace Scott McTominay and give Fred competition.

Jack: A goalkeeper, a centre-back and a right-back. Erik ten Hag's system is run on ball-playing smart defenders and the players we have now are either not good enough or not suited to the system. We obviously desperately need a striker and central midfielder as well but we need to build from the back the same way Manchester City did.

Emma Sanders has written a piece about the biggest moves that could potentially happen over the transfer window.

The club who could lose the most stars is Manchester United. Alessia Russo, Ona Batlle and Alessia Russo could leave this summer.

After two failed world-record bids for United's Alessia Russo in January, Arsenal maintain heavy interest and have held discussions with the England striker over a move when her contract expires this summer.

United and Spain full-back Ona Batllecould also leave on the expiry of her contract with Barcelona's long-term interest remaining.

An option to extend United goalkeeper Mary Earps' contract for another year has been exercised but they face a battle to keep her with several clubs keen to sign her in this window.

Andrew Griffin: Eden Hazard’s equaliser against Spurs to bring the title to Leicester. *wipes tear from eye*

Scott: Memorable football moment from a European game was the final whistle going at Ibrox in the Europa League semi last season, an unbelievable outpouring of emotion and noise

David Pearce: My favourite football moment was my daughter playing her 100th match for her team and marking the occasion with a goal! I was leaping on the touchline at that with about as much coordination as David Moyes! Nothing will ever beat that.

  13. ‘Miami a lifestyle decision for Messi’published at 14:03 British Summer Time 8 June 2023

    Guillem Balague
Spanish football journalist on BBC Radio 5 Live

For Lionel Messi, it is a lifestyle decision. He has only decided recently; his dad Jorge had put everything together with Saudi Arabia and Inter Miami. It was impossible for him to go to Barcelona.

Both Saudi and Miami believed he was going there. They had the presentation ready; Miami suits better for his family.

  14. Barcelona react to Messi’s Miami movepublished at 13:57 British Summer Time 8 June 2023

    Barcelona

Barcelona were interested in re-signing Lionel Messi this summer and have released a statement following co his move to Inter Miami: “On Monday, June 5, Jorge Messi, the player’s father and representative, informed Club President Joan Laporta of the player's decision to join Inter Miami, despite having been presented with a proposal from Barça, in consideration of the desire of both FC Barcelona and Lionel Messi for him to once again wear blaugrana.

“President [Joan] Laporta understood and respected Messi's decision to want to compete in a league with fewer demands, further away from the spotlight and the pressure he has been subject to in recent years.

“Both Joan Laporta and Jorge Messi also agreed to work together to promote a proper tribute from Barça fans to honor a footballer who has been, is, and always will be beloved by Barça.”

The best game I have ever been to was on 14th April 1976 when we [West Ham] came from behind from the 1st leg to beat Franfurt. The Boleyn ground was rocking. A fantastic night.

Being a Bluenose at Wembley for the Carling cup final 2011. The Obafemi Martins last minute winner. Never experienced an atmosphere like it. Been a tough decade since then but I wouldn't change that one day for anything. Hopefully better days to come soon

    Scott Minto
Former Chelsea and West Ham defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

It has been a very difficult season for West Ham. If you’d asked me a month or two ago if they won the Conference League, does that constitute a good season? I’d have said it would have been a bad season with a great ending.

But as we got closer to the final, they stayed up with games to spare. It is a very good season, a historic season.

Going to a meeting at Portsmouth FC the day they signed Crouch and having my photo taken with the FA Cup, touching the latest Arsenal engraving. Then meeting my future wife that evening. Nothing better than that.

For all our subsequent success all city fans of a certain age will rate the late goals against Gillingham in the league 2 play off in 1999 amongst any of the rest. Utd had won the treble the previous week but in that moment no one could say we were less happy than them. Football is after all about just that, the moment.
