    Dafydd Pritchard
BBC Sport Wales at Cardiff City Stadium

That was a brilliant goal from Lucas Zelarayan but it seemed quite a soft one to concede from a Welsh perspective.

It was a familiar failure from Wales to track opposition midfielders into the box. Echoes of their defensive frailties at the World Cup.

Former Wales striker on BBC Radio Wales

We'd just spoken about it, the need to be careful but what a finish that is!

Comes from the left hand side, Zelarayan opens his foot out, let's the ball come across his body, on the volley and top corner.

    Lucas Zelarayan

Oh dear. Such a casual volley into the top corner and it's all square.

  4. Postpublished at 17 mins

    Wales 1-0 Armenia

Armenia skipper Eduard Spertsyan has an effort with a diving header.

Never looked like troubling Danny Ward... but a warning.

  5. Postpublished at 16 mins

    Wales 1-0 Armenia

You can already see why Wales boss Robert Page was tamping that he was without Brennan Johnson for his first two qualifiers.

He was ruled out by Forest with an "unspecified" injury only to turn out for the Premiership side the following week.

He's already shown how dangerous he is with his pace down the right - he's already tearing the Armenia defence apart.

    Wales 1-0 Armenia

    Dafydd Pritchard
BBC Sport Wales at Cardiff City Stadium

Rob Page and Aaron Ramsey have spent a lot of this week speaking about the importance of patience as well as the need for a greater cutting edge in attack.

That's after Wales were made to work hard for their 1-0 win over Latvia here in March.

No such concerns so far tonight after that early goal for Dan James.

  7. Postpublished at 12 mins

    Wales 1-0 Armenia

    Nathan Blake
Former Wales striker on BBC Radio Wales

It's good play, the Armenians are remonstrating with the referee thinking that it should have been a freekick, but he never touched him for me.

I might be mistaken, he might've touched him but you've got to play to the whistle.

  8. goal

GOAL - Wales 1-0 Armeniapublished at 10 mins

    Dan James

This time Brennan Johnson's cross is smashed in and Wales have an early lead.

Ethan Ampadu's clever through ball released the Forest striker who drove a telling ball across the six-yard box and James grabbed his sixth goal for Wales.

  9. CLOSE!published at 9 mins

    Wales 0-0 Armenia

Brennan Johnson gets clear down the right, pulls back a delightful cross from the by-line but Moore heads wide.

    Should have scored.

  10. Postpublished at 8 mins

    Wales 0-0 Armenia

    Yeah Hannah's right.

Wales have clearly identified that Kieffer Moore has a major height advantage over the two Armenian centre-backs.

Conor Roberts launches another long thrown in and Moore easily wins the jump for the ball but heads straight at the keeper.

  11. Kieffer Moore is a 'Beast'published at 7 mins

    Wales 0-0 Armenia

    Hannah Cain
Wales international on BBC Radio Wales

Kieffer Moore is a beast in the air, he's got so much height he can bring the ball down well.

Anything that goes into the box is a big threat for Wales there.

  12. Postpublished at 4 mins

    Wales 0-0 Armenia

Harry Wilson floats a ball in and Armenia just nudge it clear with Kieffer Moore waiting to pounce.

Connor Roberts launches a long throw-in and suddenly the Armenia box is under seige.

  13. Home crowd inspirationpublished at 3 mins

    Wales 0-0 Armenia

    Nathan Blake
Former Wales striker on BBC Radio Wales

You look at this crowd and you want to get on the pitch, it's inspiring. So fingers crossed Wales can continue their good form at home and get themselves a good win today.

Well, apart from the stadium DJ, the best display of the warm up has to be the leg tattoos of Armenia's Tigran Barseghyan.

    That's some serious ink!

    Wales v Armenia (19:45 BST)

So I asked earlier, when was the last time Wales lost a European Championship qualifier here at the Cardiff City Stadium.

The answer is almost 13 years ago - back in October 2010 when Bryan Flynn's side were beaten 1-0 by Bulgaria.

If you answered England in 2011 - that game was held down the road at the (then named) Millennium Stadium.

Since that defeat, Wales have won nine of their last 11 Euro qualifiers at the home of the Bluebirds.

Only Croatia (2019) and Israel (2015) have left Cardiff City Stadium with a point over the last 13 years.

    Pretty impressive!

  18. Anthems timepublished at 19:42 British Summer Time 16 June 2023

    Wales v Armenia (19:45)

Time for the anthems... first up is Armenia.

After a quick Google search, the anthem is called Mer Hayreniḱ - Our Fatherland.

  19. How does Euro 2024 qualification work?published at 19:41 British Summer Time 16 June 2023

    Wales v Armenia (19:45 BST)

The top two teams in each group (seven have five teams, three have six) qualify for Euro 2024, plus Germany automatically as hosts.

The other three qualifiers will come from play-offs based on last year's Nations League.

The remaining games after this month will be played in international breaks in September, October and November.

      How about another quiz question?

When was the last time Wales lost a European Championship qualifier here at Cardiff City Stadium?

      The answer before kick-off.
