  1. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:05 British Summer Time 19 June 2023

    Northern Ireland 0-0 Kazakhstan

Here comes Glentoran winger Conor McMenamin in place of Jonny Evans.

Caig Cathcart get the armband. Will McMenamin be the game changer?

Samorodov fired one well over the top just before the change.

It's a shot. That's the best we can say about it.

Jordan Thompson looked like he was telling Northern Ireland manager Michael O'Neill that he was struggling with an injury there. Either that or that one of his team-mates is.

One to keep an eye on.

  3. Final ball proving the problempublished at 21:03 British Summer Time 19 June 2023

    Northern Ireland 0-0 Kazakhstan

    John O'Neill
Former Northern Ireland defender on BBC Radio Ulster

That was a good break but Price's final ball is poor. He needs to hold onto the ball for longer but he doesn't and then the opportunity is gone.

    Northern Ireland 0-0 Kazakhstan

It's right in front of the enthusiastic section of Kazakhstan fans in the corner.

It's a dangerous delivery which Peacock-Farrell punches away.

Northern Ireland look to break but Isaac Price can't find Dion Charles, who was six yards away.

Things can only get better. The TV cameras show a few fans in the stand, who look a bit fed up.

Paddy McNair is forced to give away a corner to stop Orozov scampering into the area.

It's been a good start to the second half and there is a lot more purpose.

We are pushing them up, playing in their half and with a little more tempo and the crowd are responding!

A few big challenges are flying in from both sides as the needle rises in south Belfast.

Askhat Tagybergen breaks things up with a poor effort that was closer to the corner flag than the goal.

  8. Can Kop factor come into play?published at 20:55 British Summer Time 19 June 2023

    Northern Ireland 0-0 Kazakhstan

    Mark Sterling
BBC Sport NI at Windsor Park

What a cross that was from George Saville.

He did superbly to outmuscle his man on the left flank and he put it right into the corridor of uncertainty - but Dion Charles just couldn't reach it.

Northern Ireland are attacking the Kop end in this half - where the vocal heartbeat of Windsor Park are housed.

Can that be a factor? It often is.

I would expect Conor McMenamin to come on later on. He did well when he came on on Friday night.

Even at the very start of this second half, you can tell Michael has had a word to tell them to play the ball quicker.

George Saville plays in a brilliant low ball across the six yard box but there's nobody there to get a touch.

  12. Are substitutes the key to this game?published at 20:51 British Summer Time 19 June 2023

    Northern Ireland 0-0 Kazakhstan

    Josh Magennis

This is the type of game that the substitutes should be taking everything in as they could be the ones who get their name in lights.

Isaac Price is caught in possession and Orazov has a pop form 20 yards but it's easy for Bailey Peacock-Farrell.

No harm done, but it's another warning shot.

If we get beaten tonight it would be a massive upset as Kazakhstan haven't done enough.

They're working extremely hard but they just lack that bit of quality to turn those moments in good areas into more chances and goals.

Northern Ireland could really do with a win to keep pace with those at the top.

Earlier on Monday, Finland hammered minnows San Marino 6-0 to move top of the group on nine points.

Daniel Hakans scored a hat-trick while Glen Kamara, Benjamin Kallman and Teemu Pukki also netted. No Pukki, no party after all.

In the other 7.45pm kick-off, Denmark are drawing 1-1 with Slovenia.

Andraz Sporar opened the scoring for the hosts before Rasmus Hojlund levelled for the Danes before the break.

Brendan Rodgers has returned as Celtic manager four years after leaving to join Leicester City.

The Northern Irishman, 50, has agreed a three-year contract with the Scottish champions to replace Ange Postecoglou, who left for Tottenham this month.

"I am really delighted to return to Celtic and I am hugely excited by this great opportunity," said former Leicester City boss Rodgers.

Talking to the club's website, he added: "When I was given the privilege of being asked to join the club again, it was a very simple decision for me and my family.

"We have enjoyed some great times at Celtic before and this will be my goal again, to deliver good football, ensure we have a team we all love to watch and ultimately bring more success to our fans.

"Ange has done some brilliant work across the last two years and I will be doing all I can to maintain Celtic's momentum as we face into all our domestic and European challenges.

"We have a hugely impressive and talented group of players and staff at the club, and I am really looking forward to meeting up with them all and then getting straight down to work."

Here's how the other home nations are getting on at half-time.

At Old Trafford, England are three up and flying against North Macedonia. Harry Kane, Bukayo Saka and Marcus Rashford, on his home turf, have netted for Gareth Southgate's side.

The Republic of Ireland are dominating possession but are yet to make the breakthrough against minnows Gibraltar in Dublin. There's a big 45 minutes needed from Stephen Kenny's side.

Wales are goalless at half-time in Turkey but have had Joe Morrell sent off shortly before half-time. They'll be up against it after the restart.
