    Liverpool 3-1 Bournemouth

    Big chance for the Cherries!

Kieffer Moore is found in space on the penalty spot by a pull back from Antoine Semenyo but the big forward lifts his shot well over the bar.

    Should have scored.

  3. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 16:29 British Summer Time 19 August 2023

    Wolves 1-4 Brighton

Another change for Wolves, who need another goal soon really to give themselves some hope of an unlikely comeback. Toti comes on for Craig Dawson.

  4. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 16:29 British Summer Time 19 August 2023

    Fulham 0-2 Brentford

Keane Lewis-Potter is on for Kevin Schade out wide for Brentford.

  5. 'Third has probably put the game to bed'published at 16:29 British Summer Time 19 August 2023

    Liverpool 3-1 Bournemouth

    Glenn Murray
Former Brighton striker on Final Score

Down in the dressing room Alexis Mac Allister will be breathing a little sigh of relief.

A great response from Liverpool after he left them in the lurch a bit putting them down to ten men.

Bournemouth probably fancied their chances after the red card but that third goal has probably put the game to bed now.

  6. YELLOW CARDpublished at 16:29 British Summer Time 19 August 2023

    Fulham 0-2 Brentford

Harrison Reed, who was Fulham captain for about 60 seconds before coming off, was booked during that minute for dissent too.

    Liverpool 3-1 Bournemouth

Justin Kluivert and Kieffer Moore are on now for Bournemouth as they look to make their extra man count for something in the remaining 20 minutes.

They're second best at the moment, though.

  8. YELLOW CARDpublished at 16:28 British Summer Time 19 August 2023

    Fulham 0-2 Brentford

Fulham boss Marco Silva does not look happy with the penalty and the red card - and he gets booked.

Never a red card for MacAllister there. Yellow at best.

    Sean

Straight red for an innocuous tackle? That game has gone. That's barely a foul.

    Anon

Hahahahaha honestly this is beyond embarrassing. Two games in and the officials and VAR are miles off it. Not even worth a booking for that Macallister challenge. Abysmal.

Liverpool have found an extra gear!

Diogo Jota has to run away from goal to gather a forward pass from Mohamed Salah, but then weaves back into the box for a shot from close range that Neto does really well to save.

Honestly, I understand refs making mistakes in real time but what is the point of VAR? Never a red card. Both players feet are at the same height! Simply pipped to the ball first. Ridiculous decision.

    Dave

I can’t see how that was a red card. Studs were down, side footed and both going for the ball. I’ve seen so many challenges a thousand times worse than that go unpunished.

    Stu

On the plus side, Liverpool will have the opportunity to play Return of the Mac for their home game against West Ham

I find that incredible. Tim Ream can't really do much less to be honest.

He goes to swing at the ball and completely misses it and Wissa nicks in. It's a bit comical if anything!

  13. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 16:26 British Summer Time 19 August 2023

Fulham bring on Willian - who has been linked with a Saudi move, Joao Palhinha and Calvin Bassey for a debut.

Bobby De Cordova-Reid, Andreas Pereira and Harrison Reed all come off.

Noel: The reffing here goes from bad to worse! That's never a red card. It's a yellow!!

Paul: So...lets hear from the PGMOL about that red card then, eh?

  15. 'Jota is alert'published at 16:26 British Summer Time 19 August 2023

    Liverpool 3-1 Bournemouth

    Chris Sutton
Former Chelsea striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Maybe a bit of anger from the Liverpool players, feeling they're hard done by.

Jota is alert, proactive, expecting Neto to spill it. He does, 3-1.

  16. Mood change...and againpublished at 16:26 British Summer Time 19 August 2023

    Liverpool 3-1 Bournemouth

    Michael Emons
    BBC Sport at Anfield

After the anger, comes the delight. Liverpool had started the second half as they finished the first, creating chance after chance, with Bournemouth just about keeping the deficit to one goal.

But summer signing Alexis Mac Allister's home debut turned into a nightmare as he was shown a straight red card to turn the mood. It looked harsh as he did catch the foot of Ryan Christie, but it was low to the ground and a genuine attempt to win the ball.

The Kop loudly booed their disapproval at the sending off, with the Argentina World Cup midfielder slowly walking off the field, where Jurgen Klopp was waiting with some consoling words.

But, only a few minutes later, Diogo Jota taps in a third after Dominik Szoboszlai's effort was fumbled by Neto.

It's a crazy game this one. Ten-man Liverpool three, 11 man Bournemouth one.

    It could end up anything.

    Liverpool 3-1 Bournemouth

    It's all ten-man Liverpool.

Dominik Szoboszlai darts in down the right but his low ball deflects away from goal before Bournemouth clear.

The Reds look just as potent, if not more so, with a man less!

  18. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 16:24 British Summer Time 19 August 2023

    Wolves 1-4 Brighton

Julio Enciso, who got two assists, is heading off for Brighton. He is replaced by Evan Ferguson.

Wolves fans aren't happy with how long Enciso is taking to go off.

You wouldn't know Liverpool have a man less!

They sweep forward again and Diogo Jota's low ball from the right is almost poked into the Cherries net by a visiting defender.

    Neto's touch is crucial.
