That was really poor defending from Newcastle. They pretty much laid out a red rug and ushered Ferguson to strut along it.

It undoes all the good work of Solly March, who had beaten three men to set Brighton away.

When his time came, Pedro couldn't find Evan Ferguson.

The pace remains high, the game is start to stretch, legs are tiring.

You have to feel like more goals are in the offing.

Newcastle have made their changes, but so far the subs haven't impacted the game.

Alexander Isak is starting to get into the game a bit more. He is found on the left and it takes a burst of pace and fine tackle from Jan Paul van Hecke to stop him.

He [Sandro Tonali] has had a few bright spots, he has not stood out but he looks very disappointed to come off.

You would think he is their creative player to get back into the game.

Kieran Trippier whips in the corner and prompts Bart Verbruggen to stick out a big hand. There's no touch and the ball drifts out for goal kick.

Newcastle make a positive start after the changes as Alexander Isak wins them a corner.

A triple Newcastle substitution.

Callum Wilson, Sean Longstaff and Elliott Anderson are on, with Joelinton, Miguel Almiron and Sandro Tonali going off.

Decisive action from Eddie Howe with just over 30 minutes to go.

On the decision to allow Nathan Ake's goal before half time: "It is clear that it is a huge mistake. People who have never played football and have no knowledge of playing football, making these bad decisions.

"How you can think that a player stood offside like that is not interfering..? The ball goes towards him and then the keeper dives, if the player does not move away then he hits the ball, but because he did move the ball went into the goal.

"The player is in a clear offside position. It is a clear, clear offside. Here and in any other part of the world. That player influenced the moment, influenced the decision of Bernd [Leno] and influenced even the decision of the official.

"You speak to football people, not just our players, their players as well and no one believes why this decision is not offside."

Looks like whatever injury issue might have been in the Brighton team isn't as bad as first feared as James Milner isn't on yet.

It'll be interesting to see how Eddie Howe manages his substitutions today. Many felt his changes against Liverpool helped swing the game in the Reds' favour.

This game is very much going Brighton's way at the moment, though. Kieran Trippier's dire clearance gifts the ball to Joao Pedro in the box but he gets caught between two theories and neither finds a shot or a team-mate.

Relief for Newcastle.

They are under the pump but manage to prevent Joao Pedro having a shot in the box before a flag goes up for offside.

The home side are turning the screw.

Again, a final pass is missing for the home side.

This time it is Evan Ferguson misreading a team-mate's run in the box.

Oh, almost superb from Brighton, who cut open Newcastle down the right. Solly March's pass to Evan Ferguson is heavy, though, and across comes a defender to snuff out the attack.

Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham forward Heung-min Son, speaking to BBC Match of the Day: "[It was] very good but we still have space to improve. Away from home we can’t concede a goal [inside] ten minutes, but the way we responded was fantastic. Everyone was involved. I’m very happy to get three points in a difficult place.

"I think everyone enjoys it when you have space. We want to have the ball, everyone has to move in the right direction. It looked like we had a lot of space but I think we were creating the space. Everyone was moving.

"There’s a lot of pressure because you’re playing in a Premier League team. Sometimes you forget how important happiness is, that you enjoy your football."

On his hat-trick: "It’s a very special moment because it’s not easy scoring three goals in the Premier League. I’m happy to have amazing players around me, grateful to all the players who gave me the assists and happy to get the three points."

The suggestion is that Joel Veltman has an issue.
