    Leicester 0-1 Coventry

Leicester come straight down the other end and nearly level.

Dennis Praet hits a fine low cross to the near post and Jamie Vardy is there to tap in but for the intervention of Coventry keeper Ben Wilson.

  2. Postpublished at 66 mins

    Leicester 0-1 Coventry

Coventry are having a field day right now.

Matty Godden gets in behind from ANOTHER wonderful pass from Gustavo Hamer.

The striker drags his shot miles wide with his left foot. Poor effort.

That would have been two if not for Mads Hermansen.

  4. GREAT SAVE!published at 63 mins

    Leicester 0-1 Coventry

    HUGE save.

Matty Godden is slipped in by Kasey Palmer and he looks to beat Mads Hermansen at his near post but, like every good Danish goalkeeper for about 30 years, he makes himself very big and turns it around the post.

Would have been hard to see a way back from 2-0 down for the home side.

  5. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 61 mins

Leicester have got to do something to change the direction of this match and they're going to the bench early.

    Better from the home side.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall whips a decent free-kick in and Jannik Vestergaard's volley at the back stick hits the sidenetting.

Leicester need a leader out there - someone who's calm out there and can settle everyone down.

  8. Postpublished at 59 mins

    Leicester 0-1 Coventry

I don't know what Mark Robins said at half-time but it has worked wonders.

The Sky Blues have got Leicester on the ropes.

For the first time today a Gustavo Hamer corner is straight into the gloves of Mads Hermansen in the home goal.

The midfielder has been superb in his work today and with just one year left on his deal, you have to wonder whether Cov can keep hold of him beyond the end of this month.

It's all gone a bit quiet at the King Power, except in the away corner, where the 3,000 Cov fans are having a great time.

Another Gus Hamer corner, Kyle McFadzean peeled off his marker and powered home Coventry's first goal of the season at the near post.

It's his first goal since March, in a 4-1 win at Blackpool. It would be asking a bit much of a repeat of that scoreline today - but the Sky Blues are certainly on top. And it spares the blushes of his striker Ellis Simms, who had skewed badly wide just before.

  10. Postpublished at 56 mins

    Leicester 0-1 Coventry

    Lovely, lovely play from Coventry.

Matty Godden nearly turns in a low cross at the near post but Mads Hermansen is equal to it.

  11. Postpublished at 54 mins

    Leicester 0-1 Coventry

Leicester have got to draw the sting out of this.

They had so much of the ball in the first half but they've barely strung three passes together since the break.

Coventry sniff a second as Ellis Simms tests Mads Hermansen down to his left.

  12. 'Leicester not got out of changing rooms'published at 13:12 British Summer Time 6 August 2023

    Leicester 0-1 Coventry

    Matt Piper
Former Foxes winger on BBC Radio Leicester

I'm a big fan of the way Leicester want to play but you have to score when you're on top.

The Foxes have not really got out of the changing rooms this half and Coventry have taken advantage.

  13. YELLOW CARDpublished at 52 mins

    Leicester 0-1 Coventry

    First booking of the day.

Leicester defender Jannik Vestergaard pulls Matty Godden's shirt and you can't do that.

  14. Postpublished at 51 mins

    Leicester 0-1 Coventry

That Sky Blues goal means that none of the 10 games in the Championship so far this season will have ended goalless.

Two more games to come today. Can we make it the full dozen?

  15. Postpublished at 49 mins

    Leicester 0-1 Coventry

I'll tell you who will be pleased about that Cov goal. Ellis Simms.

The Sky Blues striker, on his debut, got played in behind in the opening 15 seconds of this half and lashed wildly at his shot when he really should have given his side the lead.

No matter, one minute later he won a corner and Kyle McFadzean crashed home a header.

Coventry have their tails up now.

  16. 'We have to see Leicester mettle'published at 13:08 British Summer Time 6 August 2023

    Leicester 0-1 Coventry

    Matt Piper
Former Foxes winger on BBC Radio Leicester

Gustavo Hamer has produced wicked delivery after wicked delivery and he does it again.

It's a flat trajectory as he misses the near man. It's a training ground move as the captain gets a good header on it and the goalkeeper has no chance.

Now we have to see the mettle of this Leicester side.

  17. goal

GOAL: Leicester 0-1 Coventrypublished at 47 mins

    Kyle McFadzean

The away side have the breakthrough!

    There we go then!

Gustavo Hamer's corners have caused problems for the home defence all day and this one is a beuaty.

Smashed in with curl and power at the near post and Kyle McFadzean peels off his marker to thump home a header.

    HT: Leicester 0-0 Coventry

Paul: Decided to watch this game for having nothing do and it isn’t actually a bad game, but the quality in final third for both teams is lacking. Vardy barely in game and Simms at other end looks like he struggles control a ball and loses it easily too often

And then once they're finished at Elland Road it's time to head further north as Sunderland host promoted Ipswich Town.

The Tractor Boys are back in the Championship for the first time since relegation in 2018-19.

Black Cats fans will be hoping their side don't have a hangover from the disappointment of losing in May's play-off semi-final against Luton.

    It should be a cracker.
