    Sunderland v Ipswich (17:00 BST)

Cheers, Gareth. Let's hope we get similar drama.

And so, to our final game of the day. with Sunderland hosting Ipswich Town.

Last season saw the Wearsiders reach the play-offs just 12 months after returning to the Championship, on the back of an upturn triggered by Tony Mowbray's mid-season arrival as boss.

Mowbray was at the heart of Ipswich Town's defence for their promotion to the Premier League back in 2000, and 23 years the Tractor Boys begin this campaign on the back of another triumph having risen back to the Championship.

Two clubs on an upward trajectory will finish off the weekend action, and it promises plenty.

  2. Over to you, Sunderland and Ipswichpublished at 16:38 British Summer Time 6 August 2023

FT: Leeds United 2-2 Cardiff City

So Leeds' late comeback sees them claim a point against new-look Cardiff, who can take heart from their performance despite the pain of conceding a stoppage-time equaliser.

The draw at Elland Road followed Leicester's comeback win over Coventry in what has already been a thrilling day of Championship action - and there is more to come.

Now we hand the baton to Matt Newsum to take you through Sunderland's meeting with Ipswich Town at the Stadium of Light.

FT: Leeds United 2-2 Cardiff City

That will feel almost like a loss for Cardiff, who looked for so long like claiming a notable away victory.

Erol Bulut's team showed plenty of positive signs, but Leeds will feel a draw was the least they deserved given that they controlled the game for so long.

All things considered, it is decent start for both teams.
