  2. 'Girelli proved her point'published at 09:00 British Summer Time 24 July 2023

    FT: Italy 1-0 Argentina

    Eniola Aluko
    Former England forward on ITV1

That's a big win for Italy in a very difficult group.

Cristiana Girelli came on and proved her point, she almost looked angry to be sitting on the bench.

It's a fantastic ball from Lisa Boattin as well.

    Italy 1-0 Argentina

Lisa Boattin made the first goal and nearly gets on the scoresheet with a direct and purposeful run into the box. She strikes at the near post, but Vanina Correa pushes it behind for a corner.

    Italy 1-0 Argentina

A late booking for Argentina's Eliana Stabile, blocking off Sofia Cantore.

  6. GREAT SAVE!published at 90+5 mins

    Italy 1-0 Argentina

That was the chance. A 25-yard free-kick from Florencia Bonsegundo is hit low and hard for Argentina. Italy's goalkeeper Francesca Durante dives to her right and pushes it away. Argentina denied.

Any way back for Argentina to snatch a point? We are in the third of seven minutes of injury time so they need to do it soon.

  8. 'Girelli won't be on the bench in the next game'published at 08:49 British Summer Time 24 July 2023

    Italy 1-0 Argentina

    Lucy Ward
    Former Leeds striker on ITV

Cristiana Girelli only needed four minutes. That's what goalscorers do.

It has been a difficult game for Italy, Argentina have defended well but when it comes to it you just need your old heads.

That's what it's all about getting on the end of crosses and that's what Girelli offers.

I don't think she'll be starting on the bench in the next game.

GOAL - Italy 1-0 Argentinapublished at 87 mins

    Cristiana Girelli

An instant impact from the sub!

Italy get the breakthrough and it is a great looping header from 12 yards out and Cristiana Girelli, leaping above her marker, has scored what may well be the winner.

Credit too for Lisa Boattin, who supplied an excellent cross from deep for the assist.

On in the 83rd minute, a goalscorer in the 87th minute. Girelli is Italy's potential match-winner.

  10. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 85 mins

    Italy 0-0 Argentina

Sixteen-year-old Giulia Dragoni can be proud of her efforts but she is taken off now, replaced by Cristiana Girelli, Italy's squad captain who is making her 104th national appearance and has scored 53 goals.

Girelli is in the Italian Football Hall of Fame so is some player to call on for the last few minutes of this one.

  11. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 80 mins

    Italy 0-0 Argentina

The first change for Argentina sees Yamila Rodriguez, the top scorer in the 2022 Copa America Femenina with six goals (including a hat-trick in a 5-0 win over Uruguay), come on and off goes Romina Nunez.

Argentina still to have a shot on target so Rodriguez will be looking to change that.

  12. 30,889 inside Eden Parkpublished at 08:37 British Summer Time 24 July 2023

    Italy 0-0 Argentina

    Neil Johnston
    BBC Sport at Eden Park

30,889 are inside Eden Park. That means more than 110,000 have been inside New Zealand's national stadium for three Women's World Cup matches.

  13. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 75 mins

    Italy 0-0 Argentina

Both the Italians who thought they had scored, only to be denied by offside flags, have now gone off.

Valentina Giacinti is the second to make way, replaced by 23-year-old Sofia Cantore, who scored in a 1-1 draw at Coventry against England in the Arnold Clark Cup in February for her only international goal so far.

Now would be a decent time to get a second.

  14. Postpublished at 74 mins

    Italy 0-0 Argentina

A chance for Argentina. A free-kick causes problems, Francesca Durante, under pressure from two players, punches it off the goalline with the rebound bouncing off the legs of Argentina's Mariana Larroquette.

The ball could've gone anywhere, but to Italy's relief it crawls past the post.

  15. 'Improvement needed'published at 08:30 British Summer Time 24 July 2023

    Italy 0-0 Argentina

    Lucy Ward
    Former Leeds striker on ITV

The way this game has gone it needs something spectacular, maybe a free kick, to try and find a way through.

Both these teams will have to improve for when they play South Africa, never mind Sweden.

  16. CLOSE!published at 70 mins

    Italy 0-0 Argentina

We asked for a moment of magic and we nearly got it with a 25-yard free-kick from Italy's Manuela Giugliano. She whips it over the wall, but the shot has just a bit too much height on it and it ends up on the roof of the net instead of inside.

  17. Postpublished at 08:28 British Summer Time 24 July 2023

    Italy 0-0 Argentina

    Neil Johnston
    BBC Sport at Eden Park

Those Argentina fans I was talking about earlier have turned up the volume. There are horns as well as drums and we've just heard chants of "Argentina, Argentina" echo around Eden Park.

You get the feeling one goal will settle this. The tackles are flying and it's a tetchy affair.

Argentina's Miriam Mayorga gets a booking, stepping across Barbara Bonansea and bringing her down.

  19. Postpublished at 65 mins

    Italy 0-0 Argentina

We are just waiting on that one moment of brilliance or an error. It's tight and tense in Auckland. We've had two goalless draws in the tournament, with just the one goal in five other matches.

How many will we end up in this one? Thirty minutes ish left in this one.

  20. Postpublished at 60 mins

    Italy 0-0 Argentina

The first change of the day comes from Italy, with 23-year-old Roma midfielder Giada Greggi coming on for Arianna Caruso, one of two players to have a goal disallowed for offside in the first half.
