That's a big win for Italy in a very difficult group.

Cristiana Girelli came on and proved her point, she almost looked angry to be sitting on the bench.

That was the chance. A 25-yard free-kick from Florencia Bonsegundo is hit low and hard for Argentina. Italy's goalkeeper Francesca Durante dives to her right and pushes it away. Argentina denied.

Cristiana Girelli only needed four minutes. That's what goalscorers do.

It has been a difficult game for Italy, Argentina have defended well but when it comes to it you just need your old heads.

That's what it's all about getting on the end of crosses and that's what Girelli offers.

I don't think she'll be starting on the bench in the next game.

Sixteen-year-old Giulia Dragoni can be proud of her efforts but she is taken off now, replaced by Cristiana Girelli, Italy's squad captain who is making her 104th national appearance and has scored 53 goals.

Girelli is in the Italian Football Hall of Fame so is some player to call on for the last few minutes of this one.

The first change for Argentina sees Yamila Rodriguez, the top scorer in the 2022 Copa America Femenina with six goals (including a hat-trick in a 5-0 win over Uruguay), come on and off goes Romina Nunez.

Argentina still to have a shot on target so Rodriguez will be looking to change that.

Both the Italians who thought they had scored, only to be denied by offside flags, have now gone off.

Valentina Giacinti is the second to make way, replaced by 23-year-old Sofia Cantore, who scored in a 1-1 draw at Coventry against England in the Arnold Clark Cup in February for her only international goal so far.

Now would be a decent time to get a second.

A chance for Argentina. A free-kick causes problems, Francesca Durante, under pressure from two players, punches it off the goalline with the rebound bouncing off the legs of Argentina's Mariana Larroquette.

The ball could've gone anywhere, but to Italy's relief it crawls past the post.

The way this game has gone it needs something spectacular, maybe a free kick, to try and find a way through.

Both these teams will have to improve for when they play South Africa, never mind Sweden.

We asked for a moment of magic and we nearly got it with a 25-yard free-kick from Italy's Manuela Giugliano. She whips it over the wall, but the shot has just a bit too much height on it and it ends up on the roof of the net instead of inside.

Those Argentina fans I was talking about earlier have turned up the volume. There are horns as well as drums and we've just heard chants of "Argentina, Argentina" echo around Eden Park.

You get the feeling one goal will settle this. The tackles are flying and it's a tetchy affair.
