It's a proper contest. That is both a good thing and a bad. The latter because it means periods of scrappy play where both teams wrestle for control. Some of the German players have come in for some rough treatment.

A decent Germany move cuts through Colombia and sets up Lina Magull for a shot from range. A block comes in, though, and Catalina Perez is untested.

One thing I would say about the Colombia press is that at times they are wasting energy chasing balls that they are very unlikely to reach.

That won't neccessarily make a huge difference now, but when it comes to the latter stages of the game they will tire.

Usme limps to the touchline but doesn't look to be too badly off.

Catalina Usme is down now for Colombia. This would be a loss for them if she can't carry on. She's vital in that forward line to link up play and threaten the Germany goal.

We're only seeing sporadic flashes from the Colombia forwards. Linda Caicedo had faded from the game, but she gets a chance to do something as she is found on the left. Her first touch is poor, though, and invites the tackle.

Soon after, a shot does come in from Lorena Durango, but Germany keeper Merle Frohms is right behind it.

Great to see Wolfsburg’s Lena Oberdorf back starting for Germany.

She could be key for them in the latter stages of this tournament. She looks sharp in the midfield and has already made some impressive intercepts and is starting to pull the strings as Germany stride forwards.

It's a proper battle in midfield at times. Strength needed, but calm heads too.

Alexandra Popp is acting more of a supplier so far. Her flicked header sets Lina Magull away but a sliding tackle from Daniela Arias sees off the threat.

Just some signs now that Germany are starting to take a bit of control.

Some strong keeping from Catalina Perez denies Germany again as the Colombia keeper comes out to gather a corner.

    Chance!

Germany's best of the game so far.

Lena Oberdorf bullies her way into the box and sets up a chance that falls to Lina Magull. She has space to get a shot away but gets it completely wrong, booting air instead of the ball.

That is clearly a tactic for Colombia.

A different player each time is taking the chance to just leave one on Popp.

I'm not sure winding up Popp is the wisest thing to do.

    Good tackle.

Daniela Montoya sticks out a well-timed boot to stop Jule Brand, who was in full flight after cutting in from the left.

Nice. Catalina Usme dummies a pass and allows it to run for Mayra Ramirez. The Germany defence is alert to the threat, though.

Shortly after, Alexandra Popp is again battered as she looks to get on the ball. Not sure making her angry is all that wise.

Some heavy challenges going in now. Colombia refusing to let their big-hitting opponents get a grip on this.

You can see that Colombia have clearly earmarked Popp for special attention.

Not only on set plays, free-kicks and corners, but in open play too. Arias just nudged her there off the ball.

Popp is going to be fine, albeit not happy with the way Arias dealt with her there. Just a bit of treatment and we go again.

Alexandra Popp is down after a challenge off the ball. Looks like she got a hand into the shoulder from Daniela Arias.

Germany are just trying to draw Colombia forwards so they can use their passing range from the midfield to get in behind.

Colombia are executing a good press at the moment though.
