  2. 'Dominant display but more intensity needed against Aussies'published at 14:13 British Summer Time 8 August 2023

    FT: France 4-0 Morocco

    Fara Williams
Former England midfielder on BBC One

France were the better team. A dominant performance. A clean sheet going into the quarter-final.

It was always going to be difficult for Morocco to block out the strengths of France, particularly down the wings.

It proved costly for Morocco, they were able to defend the goals from the wide areas.

France will have to up their intensity against Australia, this was probably the lowest intensity game of the round.

They need to up their levels against Australia who will bring it and then some on Saturday.

  4. 'Morocco must be so proud of this team'published at 14:04 British Summer Time 8 August 2023

    FT: France 4-0 Morocco

    Ellen White
Former England striker on BBC One

This Moroccan team can be so proud.

What they have achieved in this tournament, the visibility they have brought, their whole nation must be so proud.

They will be proud of each other and themselves as individuals.

To win two straight games and get two clean sheets [at the end of the group stage] is great.

They just didn't have the quality going forward today.

France have shown that they have developed relationships within this tournament, and rhythm in their play.

They have shown that they are a level beyond this Morocco side, who are still new at this level.

The referee's eyes say it all there.

El Haj lucky again to get away with that challenge. More frustration creeping in to this game.

Hanane Ait El Haj is a lucky, lucky, lucky lass. She is on a yellow and flies in for another late tackle. It's a bookable offence for sure but the referee is lenient. The look from the official says it all, though - don't test me again!

A rare moment of concern for France as a Morocco free-kick is swung into the middle and nodded on. A defender is first to the loose ball to hammer it clear.

Inside the last 10 now and this is a tame trudge towards full time. France have showed up in a big way to get the job done. Morocco have been better in this second half. Can they get a final moment to go home off the back of?

    Should be 5-0!

France fire a free-kick wide right and the ball is sent into the middle for Kadidiatou Diani, who holds off her marker and has most of the net to hammer the ball into but instead scoops her effort over the bar.
