  1. KICK-OFFpublished at 45 mins

    Japan 0-1 Sweden

The Japanese players are the first team back on the pitch and they've made a change.

Jun Endo is on for Hina Sugita.

Sweden kick off to get the second-half under way. They've got one foot in the semi-finals, can they keep it there?

  2. 'We're seeing a different side to Sweden'published at 09:30 British Summer Time 11 August 2023

    HT: Japan 0-1 Sweden

    Alex Scott
Former England and Arsenal defender on BBC One

We saw Japan sit back against Spain and concede possession but when they are trying to attack here, they don't have anyone in numbers supporting them.

They do seem a completely different Japan team, credit to Sweden. They are out passing them and out thinking them.

We're seeing a different side to Sweden.

Although, it could have been a whole lot worse for Japan if Ayaka Yamashita hadn't made this superb save to deny Kosovare Asllani.

    HT: Japan 0-1 Sweden

While Japan have had zero shots on goal, Sweden have had 11 attempts with four of those on target.

Futoshi Ikeda's side looked defensively sound and had attacked with venom in all of their previous games, but they look a shadow of the team we've seen so far at this World Cup.

  5. Watch: Ilestedt scores opener for Swedenpublished at 09:24 British Summer Time 11 August 2023

    HT: Japan 0-1 Sweden

Here's how Sweden took the lead in their quarter-final tie...

That first half was all Sweden.

Zecira Musovic was kept very busy against the USA, but she hasn't been called to action yet as Japan haven't had an attempt on goal.

  7. 'Sweden have stuck to their strengths'published at 09:20 British Summer Time 11 August 2023

    HT: Japan 0-1 Sweden

    Fara Williams
Former England midfielder on BBC One

I did say if Sweden would stick to their strengths and be that little bit more direct and physical with deliveries from wide areas, they could cause this Japan team a slight problem.

It has looked this way in the opening 45 minutes.

Nick: I would love to see Japan win the tournament. Easily the best team to watch as their games are always open....even Sweden are playing properly!

  9. HALF-TIMEpublished at 09:17 British Summer Time 11 August 2023

    HT: Japan 0-1 Sweden

Sweden lead at the break thanks to another Amanda Ilestedt goal.

  10. Postpublished at 45 mins

    Japan 0-1 Sweden

Sweden have really found their rhythm, I doubt they will want that half-time whistle just yet.

There's just one minute of added time.

Japan are going to need a stern half-time talking to by Futoshi Ikeda.

  11. 'Phenomenal save from Yamashita'published at 09:15 British Summer Time 11 August 2023

    Japan 0-1 Sweden

    Rachel Brown-Finnis
    Ex-England goalkeeper on BBC One

The touch from Kosovare Asllani was beautiful, what a save from Ayaka Yamashita. She just touches it onto the post. Phenomenal save.

Technically wonderful from Asllani and only bettered by Yamashita in goal.

It's one of those where you are stretching every sinew, stunning save.

Outstanding by Ayaka Yamashita. Japan look ruffled after falling behind for the first time at this tournament. They need to get to half-time without conceding another.

  13. 'Haven't seen a Plan B from Japan'published at 09:14 British Summer Time 11 August 2023

    Japan 0-1 Sweden

    Rachel Brown-Finnis
    Ex-England goalkeeper on BBC One

I haven't seen a Plan B from Japan in their previous games but that's because they haven't required a Plan B.

It will be interesting to see if and when they do make any personnel changes or tactical changes.

  14. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 42 mins

    Japan 0-1 Sweden

Sweden are inches away from getting a second goal.

Kosovare Asllani strikes the ball from the edge of the box and it hits the woodwork thanks to a fingertip save from Ayaka Yamashita.

The Armchair Football Fan: Now Sweden are ahead, they win this game easily. Said it earlier in the competition, Japan will lose the first time they play a decent team. Lack the creativity.

  16. Postpublished at 38 mins

An audacious long-range effort from Filippa Angeldal is caught comfortably by Ayaka Yamashita.

Sweden are continuing to push forward. They aren't going to settle for just one.

At some point Japan will have to try and go and win the ball back off Sweden.

Now then, how will Japan react to this?

It's the first time they've found themselves a goal down in this tournament.

  19. 'Emphatic finish from Ilestedt'published at 09:06 British Summer Time 11 August 2023

    Japan 0-1 Sweden

    Rachel Brown-Finnis
    Ex-England goalkeeper on BBC One

You may have bet on Amanda Ilestedt from a header more than likely.

Sweden react quickest. Ilestedt stays in the box and what an empathetic finish.

Sweden have deserved it, this one from six yards out and she absolutely smashes it past Ayaka Yamashita on the line.

Set pieces can often make the difference, a decisive set piece can be all it takes.

Amanda Ilestedt is on fire at this World Cup. That's her fourth of the tournament. And she's a defender.
