This will be interesting, I imagine it will just be a straight swap.

This could easily turn into a 4-4-2 and a more defensive formation to see the game out.

Chloe Kelly will probably find it difficult to get up to the tempo of this game.

  2. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 13:17 British Summer Time 12 August 2023

    England 2-1 Colombia

England are going to make the substitution now and it's Chloe Kelly who is coming on for Alessia Russo.

Really good game from Russo but we all know the quality and impact that Kelly can have.

  3. 'Colombia are threatening'published at 13:16 British Summer Time 12 August 2023

    England 2-1 Colombia

    Emma Hayes
    Chelsea manager on ITV1

Colombia are finally committing more numbers in attack. Caicedo, coming in off the left wing, is causing a lot of problems.

  4. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 13:16 British Summer Time 12 August 2023

    England 2-1 Colombia

England are yet to make a change but Ivonne Chacon is on for Colombia in place of Diana Ospina.

She's in immediate action as she releases Linda Caicedo down the right-hand side. Millie Bright's block isn't enough but its' eventually shifted out of play.

Into the last 10 minutes of this. Can England hold on?

Kev: I don't get the praise heaped on Lucy Bronze recently. She gives up possession far too often with poor passes or getting caught out. Thankfully Jess Carter has mostly been brilliant.

Tony: Surely we can't expect substitutions anytime before extra time. Didn't get one last game until Lauren James got sent off and we were abysmal before then.

England have to manage the minutes here.

The attendance inside Stadium Australia has just been announced as 75,784.

Incredible stuff. Most of them Colombia fans I reckon.

    England 2-1 Colombia

Decent pace on the break but it comes to nothing.

Another chance moments later as Mayra Ramirez tries to cut onto her right foot but ran straight into Lauren Hemp. Should've gone for it on her left. Definite opportunity.

    England 2-1 Colombia

Hmm, England may have had a small shout for a penalty there.

Alessia Russo driving forward and a challenge from Manuela Vanegas. I think she gets a toe on the ball but Russo went down. Free-kick for England but it's punched away by the goalkeeper and Colombia have a chance to break.

  11. 'Massive moment for Giraldo'published at 13:08 British Summer Time 12 August 2023

Nothing like a little bit of goalkeeper drama in a World Cup quarter-final.

Huge moment for Colombia as well. Could this potentially open up the floodgates for England? I imagine she is quite nervous with such little experience.

This could be a massive moment for Natalia Giraldo, make or break even.

  12. Postpublished at 13:08 British Summer Time 12 August 2023

    England 2-1 Colombia

Replacement goalkeepr Natalia Giraldo called into action for the first time. A simple collection from Ella Toone's effort but she'll be pleased to have got that first action over with no drama.

Mary Earps makes a saveImage source, PA Media

Fantastic save from Mary Earps. Big, strong, right paw and she pushes it over the bar.

You can't write Colombia off. What a strike from Lorena Bedoya.

    England 2-1 Colombia

Lucy Bronze looked a bit shaken there. Looks like she takes a hand to the back of the head as she rose for a header and it may have just jarred her neck.

She's fine to continue after a moment to compose herself.

  15. 'Colombia strong in transition again'published at 13:05 British Summer Time 12 August 2023

    England 2-1 Colombia

    Emma Hayes
    Chelsea manager on ITV1

What a brilliant strike! Colombia's best chances come from that transition, they commit numbers but Earps watches it all the way.

  16. CLOSE!published at 13:05 British Summer Time 12 August 2023

    England 2-1 Colombia

    What a strike!

Error from Rachel Daly in the middle of the park and Colombia capitalise. Mayra Ramirez sends it across to Lorena Bedoya Durango who lets rip and it required a really good fingertip save from Mary Earps.

    That was some effort.

  17. Postpublished at 13:03 British Summer Time 12 August 2023

    England 2-1 Colombia

England have around 20 minutes to hold onto this lead. No team in the knockout stages has come from behind to win...yet.

They will hope to improve that one-goal cushion.

  18. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 13:01 British Summer Time 12 August 2023

    England 2-1 Colombia

Catalina Perez is coming off and she's going to be replaced Natalia Giraldo.

She barely had any warning or chance to prepare for this but it's a World Cup debut for the 20-year-old.

  19. Russo earned her luckpublished at 13:00 British Summer Time 12 August 2023

England's strikers have collectively got a bit of stick for the lack of goalscoring at this tournament but Alessia Russo has played well today - particularly off the ball - and that feels like just reward.

It was a lucky bounce again but England are at least finishing off these chances which they haven't done during their time in Australia so far.

  20. Postpublished at 12:59 British Summer Time 12 August 2023

    England 2-1 Colombia

Hmmm, Catalina Perez is sat on the turf again.

The goalkeeper is clearly in some bother. It actually looks like it something to do with her eye, a lost contact lens perhaps?

It looks like she's going to have to come off, that seems a shame.
