  1. 'Who was supposed to be marking her?'published at 14:31 British Summer Time 15 October 2023

    Arsenal 0-1 Aston Villa

    Rachel Brown-Finnis
    Ex-England goalkeeper on BBC One

Wow what a goal, completely unmarked.

Everything negative about Arsenal this season has been about defensively, Amanda Ilestedt just completely misses her header.

Maz Pacheco is in acres of space. Who was supposed to be marking her because it was a completely uncontested header.

It was so close in that Lia Walti on the line couldn't react in time to stick anything out.

An incredible selection headache for Gareth Taylor to have.

  4. Villa pounce after communication error at the backpublished at 14:29 British Summer Time 15 October 2023

    Arsenal 0-1 Aston Villa

    Michael Emons
    BBC Sport at Emirates Stadium

Villa score with their first look at goal, Maz Pacheco powering in a header after Lucy Staniforth's corner from the left. But Jonas Eidevall will be furious with how the corner was conceded as there was no communication between captain Kim Little and goalkeeper Manuela Zinsberger.

The ball forward looked easy for Zinsberger to collect but Little hacked the ball behind and it proved costly. The Villa fans to the side of the goal Pacheco has just scored in are delighted.

They nearly get another chance to cheer as last season's WSL top goalscorer Rachel Daly meets a cross but can only head at Zinsberger.

Arsenal, after having so much possession, fall behind to silence the home fans.

    Ooo.

Cheeky attempt at a nutmeg from Mary Fowler on the left hand side.

The Bristol City defender isn't having any of it though, as she unceremoniously thumps the ball up field.

    Arsenal 0-1 Aston Villa

Confidence is clearly high for Aston Villa.

Rachel Daly jumps to meet a Lucy Parker ball but can't get enough power behind her header to beat Manuela Zinsberger.

    Man City 5-0 Bristol City

Perhaps the most surprising thing in this second half so far is that Man City have yet to add to their already plentiful goal tally.

It's not for the want of trying though, with the hosts already claiming 82% of possession and three shots at goal.

    Arsenal are behind!

Wow. Aston Villa have their first corner of the game as Kim Little clears the ball behind when Simone Magille tries to run through the Arsenal defence.

Lucy Staniforth delivers and Maz Pacheco, who is left entirely unmarked in the middle of the box, directs a header past Manuela Zinsberger.

The home side continue to be as relentless as ever in their pursuit for goals.

The five they have already scored in this game seem to have been forgotten, as they continue to push and probe in the hope of scoring even more.

    Arsenal 0-0 Aston Villa

Aston Villa haven't done much with the ball so far and Sarah Mayling fails to make an impression as she drives a cross towards the box.

    It's poorly-directed and easily cleared.

  12. CLOSE!published at 14:22 British Summer Time 15 October 2023

    Man City 5-0 Bristol City

    Normal service is quickly resumed.

A ball into the box from the right hand side ricochets around the penalty area, and Khadija Shaw turns on a sixpence and shoots.

Her shot flies just over the bar. Just mere millimetres standing between the forward and another hat-trick.

  13. Relentless Arsenal pressurepublished at 14:21 British Summer Time 15 October 2023

    Arsenal 0-0 Aston Villa

    Michael Emons
    BBC Sport at Emirates Stadium

Aston Villa just can't get out as Arsenal are piling on the pressure. A nervous moment for Dutch goalkeeper Daphne van Domselaar when she fumbled Caitlin Foord's low cross, but got out of jail as Mayumi Pacheco was well placed to hack the ball to safety inside her own six-yard box.

The home fans get their first look at Beth Mead today as she gets a standing ovation when running down the line and then goes through her stretching routines.

It'll be even louder cheering if she gets on the pitch later on.

    Man City 5-0 Bristol City

Another brief Bristol City foray into the Man City defensive third.

A throw in near the corner finds Amalie Thestrup with her back to goal, she cushions the ball down to Ffion Morgan on the edge of the box.

The substitute's shot is powerful, but straight at Khiara Keating in the hosts' goal.

    Rachel Brown-Finnis
    Ex-England goalkeeper on BBC One

It's been all Arsenal. I just had a little look at Rachel Daly, her body language is a little dejected. I'm not even sure she's touched the ball yet in this game.
