    FT: Man Utd 1-1 Leicester

    Vicki Sparks
BBC commentator, speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live

This start to the season for Leicester has been nothing short of remarkable.

They only just stayed up in the WSL last season, Kirk said that was the biggest achievement of his managerial career but my word are they building something special this season.

Back where we left off at the interval, with Man City pressing high, chasing Bristol City players in packs whenever there is a loose pass.

Man City have had a handful of set piece opportunities to get the ball into the box, but the home side have been unable to add to their already sizeable advantage so far.

    Gilly Flaherty
Former England defender on BBC One

Beth Mead's return will be huge, the presence she has, she is a game changer. She offers so much in the wide areas but I'm glad she's being introduced slowly.

There's been times in previous games Arsenal might've been desperate and chucked her on but it's a slow recovery for an ACL injury.

Hopefully we do see her get on the pitch today, though.

Braces for Jill Roord and Khadija Shaw, plus a header from Laia Aleixandri have all but ended this game as a contest.

Leicester have been excellent but there's still enough time for this Manchester United team to score. We've seen them score, last header of the match, last kick of the game.

Building up nicely at Emirates Stadium. Most of the lower tier around the ground is packed, so too a lot of the second tier but the top section at the Clock End and the top two tiers at the North Bank behind the opposite goal are empty. The top tier on both sides of the ground have plenty of fans in.

More than 34,000 tickets had been sold for this one as of Friday, with both sides looking to kickstart their campaigns and get their first WSL win of the season.

  20. Life is tough at the toppublished at 14:02 British Summer Time 15 October 2023

HT: Man City 5-0 Bristol City

It would take a remarkable turnaround for Bristol City to take anything, even a consolation goal, from this game.

All signs point to a fourth defeat in four games for the Robins' after returning to the WSL this season.

The form book makes for particularly grim reading for the away side:

    • Man City are unbeaten in their last 20 home Women’s Super League matches (W16 D4) since a 4-0 defeat to Chelsea in November 2021.
    • Man City have a 100% win record against promoted teams on home soil, winning all 11 games by an aggregate score of 42-2.
    • Man City have won their last 14 WSL matches against fellow City sides, scoring 53 goals and conceding just four. Bristol City were the last to stop them winning in a 1-1 draw in January 2019.
