I think United just need to get the balls in the box now, the minutes are ticking away. You've got your big targets in there, you've got Rachel Williams. Just get the ball in.

  7. HALF-TIMEpublished at 13:56 British Summer Time 15 October 2023

HT: Man City 5-0 Bristol City

A controlled, clinical and ruthless performance from Manchester City has them five goals to the good at the break.

With the form book against them, it seems highly unlikely that Bristol City will walk away with anything from this game.

Gareth Taylor's side far superior and making their advantage count at every possible opportunity.

    Man Utd 1-1 Leicester

    Jenna Schillaci
Former Spurs captain on BBC Radio 5 Live

For me, Rachel Williams comes out like a woman possessed. Off the ball, she's winning everything and setting the tone from the front.

I think if they continue playing with that intensity and moving the ball that quick it's going to be difficult for Leicester to keep it at 1-1.

Those stoppages have done little in the way of stopping the hosts' momentum.

In a quirk of the fixture list both Arsenal and Aston Villa have faced Liverpool and Manchester United in their opening two matches of the WSL season.

Villa have lost both, while Arsenal needed an injury-time goal to salvage a 2-2 draw against Manchester United after losing 1-0 to Liverpool in front of a record WSL crowd of 54,115 at Emirates Stadium on the opening day.

"There’s no panic here whatsoever," said Villa boss Carla Ward after guiding her team to fifth last season.

“You should judge where we are at during Christmas and ultimately after 22 games. It’s clear we’re very focused on what we want to try and achieve. The focus and the aims haven’t changed from what we set out to do in pre-season. We’re only two games in, and we’ll continue to work and go after those targets."

On today's opponents Arsenal, Ward added: "They’ve got a world-class squad. They’ve got a top manager. They can rotate and put a world class XI on the pitch with whoever they select. And they’re a team who I really enjoy watching play. We’re under no illusions, we’re going to have to be at our best.”
