Lucy Bronze was absolutely livid at that passage of play. She drove forward, beat a few players and cut inside but everyone seemed to run away from her.

She carried it too far, lost the ball and Spain exploited that space.

Bronze was flapping her arms furiously when she lost possession then fell to the floor in frustration when they scored.

Peter Humfrey: That run forward and failure to lay the ball off left us open. Good counter and well hit goal from Spain. We're still in this but all the hard work of the first 30 minutes undone in a moment

Spain absolutely nailed the transition there. World class, intelligent, attacking football.

Bronze gave the ball away on the half way line and they just exploited the space she left in behind next to Carter.

I don't think this is a case of nerves for England, more a case of a very well executed game plan from Spain.

Mary Earps will be hoarse. Trying to command your backline in front of 70,000 fans is such a difficult task.

You have to use down time to get your messages across. These girls are used to it now.

Here is that big save from Mary Earps earlier. She was livid with her defenders after this. She doesn't want to have to deal with many more of these.

Pitch invader swiftly dealt with and England's free kick amounted to nothing.

This match has been played at 100mph so far so will we see more of that or is it time to just get some control?

Should have been a yellow card, Ona Batlle's foul on Lauren Hemp was certainly cynical.

Everyone knows how brilliant Spain are offensively and how efficient England are.

Alessia Russo is free in space down the right and cuts it back for Lauren Hemp but they're not on the same wave length on this occasion.

Millie Bright brings down Salma Paralluelo in the middle of the park and concedes the free kick on the half-way line.

It’s been a cagey start for England but the fans here in Croydon are willing the Lionesses on from 10,000 miles away.

The biggest cheer in the fan zone so far has been for Sarina Wiegman. The place erupted when the much-loved England coach appeared on the big screen.

The boos were about as loud for Spanish coach Jorge Vilda, who has come in for heavy criticism from some within his own squad.

Early nerves but the fans here are loving every minute.

Definitely dodged a bullet there England. Spain are throwing plenty of numbers forward.

This is going to be a game of risk and reward. Spain are targteting the wide centre back and full backs for England, which is also limiting their out ball when they do win the ball back.
