Spain midfielder Aitana Bonmati speaking to BBC One: "I'm on the air right now, I don't have any words for this moment. It is unbelievable. I'm so proud because we did a great tournament. We suffered but also we enjoy it and we deserve it."
On coming together despite the controversy in the squad: "Everyone knew the goal at the beginning of the preparation of the tournament. Everyone is competitive everyone has a strong mentality to win. we have been working a lot of years for this moment and we have it, we have the trophy."

When Ivana Andres lifted the World Cup trophy in Sydney, the crowd at Madrid’s biggest watching party erupted into an uproar of jubilant celebration.
Throughout the match, 6,000 attendees have been fervently waving Spanish flags, and cheers have been erupting each time a player from "la Roja" appeared on any of the numerous screens throughout the stadium.
After the game, the venue has seamlessly transitioned into a lively party scene, courtesy of a DJ who is keeping the music flowing.

England boss Sarina Wiegman speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live: "I think everyone has watched an incredible game, a very open game with both teams wanting to play football. Two very different halves for us, the first half we really struggled to have pressure on the ball, so we changed in the second back to 4-3-3 which gave us momentum.
"I thought we got momentum, then the penalty and then the injury with Alex Greenwood, and we lost it.
"I thought that Spain were a little bit better than us today and they had a great tournament, so congratulations to them.
On her emotions at full time: "Of course it feels really bad now. Very, very disappointed. When you get to the final you want to win it, but in sports you can also lose.
"We showed how we want to play as a team and we can feel very proud of ourselves. Although it doesn't feel that way right now."

England manager Sarina Wiegman speaking to BBC One: "I think everyone has seen an incredible game, very open game, both teams who want to play football. Two different halves for us. In the first half we really struggled to have a press on the ball.
"We changed it in the second half back to 4-3-3 and I think we got momentum then. But then the energy went out of the game with the penalty and the injury to Alex [Greenwood].
"After all Spain were just a little bit better than we were today and they had a great tournament so congrats for Spain.
"Of course it feels really bad now, very very disappointing. You go into the final and you want to give everything and then you lose it. That happens in sports too but what we have done, how we have shown ourselves, who we are, how we want to play as a team, overcoming so many challenges, I think we can be so proud of ourselves now although it doesn't feel like it at the moment."

Former England striker on BBC One
For me, it's credit to those players. What they have done together to create this team togetherness.
To win a World Cup is just absolutely phenomenal.
It takes a lot of guts, mentality, desire, hard work, togetherness is the number one.
The way this Spanish team played today was just unbelievable. The way they moved the ball was just ridiculous.

The England players are slowly making their way round the pitch to say thank you to the fans who have supported the team over the last month.
Spain are still celebrating on the stage - with the Queen of Spain very much part of them - after their first World Cup triumph.
However there were very noticeable boos when Jorge Vilda, the Spain coach, received his winner's medal and again when he held the trophy aloft.

Take nothing away from this Spanish team, they were the better team over the 90 minutes and Sarina [Wiegman] and the players will learn from this and bounce back.
They're a young team with plenty of talent and a lot more to come.

It's a champion mentality.
You can't do anything about this final now, how hurtful it is.
You can turn this experience into motivation and go again.
That's what champions do.

BBC commentator, speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live
To come so close to history, to glory, and yet to fall at the final hurdle is agonising.
As England players receive their medals, you look and see a side that are still European champions, still dream of one day lifting the World Cup.
Perhaps among the faces you see watching around you, you see young girls who are now dreaming of one day taking their place on this stage, of one day emulating this side, of one day pulling on that shirt and representing this side.
That is the legacy that England leave. Now is the time to dream big and fight for what those in the past hoped for.

The England players set off on a lap of honour to clap the fans around the stadium.
Not the lap of honour they had hoped to be doing but the England flags and scarves are still waving.
Lucy Bronze has her face in her jacket, I don't think she has stopped sobbing since that final whistle blew. England weren't good enough today and Bronze will see the goal as her mistake. But the Lionesses just didn't have enough all over the pitch today. Football can just be cruel.

The celebrations are officially under way. As England's players watch in the bottom corner, Spain's jump for joy as they are presented with the World Cup trophy.
Spain lift the World Cup as fireworks blast off behind them. Ivana Andres lifts the trophy high above her head into the Sydney sky as the gold tickertape rains down.
Joyous scenes as all the coaching staff join them on the podium.
Spain, champions of the world.
Every Spain player has kissed the World Cup as they pass it by with their medals.
What a moment this is for them. Questions may come after but this is their moment to celebrate.

It is a bitter sweet moment. It hurts but this is a proud moment. To see an England team even make a World Cup final.
To have everyone at home tuning in, seeing them. They should be so proud of themselves. Yes it hurts but the amount of work and sacrifice that has gone on to get to this moment.
This is what we need to remember right now.

Tom Garry
The Telegraph speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live at Stadium Australia
It is a really remarkable, extraordinary story for Spain.
After the year they have had, after 15 players wrote that email to the Federation opposing Jorge Vilda back in October, yesterday's pre-match press conference was spikey and frosty from the manager.
You have to give credit to the Spain players on the pitch, who have performed in spite all of that noise off the pitch. They recovered from that 4-0 defeat to Japan admirably throughout the knockout stages.

Huge cheers as England pose with their runners-up medals. It is still a fantastic achievement.
Up next, the world champions...

On Lucy Bronze...
This England team is so talented, they need to come together and stay together as a group. We didn't lose the game because of Lucy Bronze's mistake, there were plenty of other opportunities to get back in the game.
No-one will take this loss more personally that Lucy Bronze. She will not be able to sleep. She is a world-class player and the number of girls she has inspired to get a number two shirt and to want to play right-back so she can't blame herself.
On England captain Millie Bright...
To step up in a place where we lost Leah Williamson and with the added pressure to come into a World Cup whe she had been out injured for so long, but she has led the team in every way.
On the impact of the England team...
These Lionesses continue to inspire everybody to want to play, to want to be involved, to want to have a voice.
FT: Spain 1-0 England
Here come the Lionesses to claim their medals. Looks of disappointment on all of their faces. They would rather be on the podium for the next round of medals.
This is still an historic moment for them. No England women's team has ever had a runners up medal at a World Cup.
