Absolutely no shame in this. No shame at all. It’s the beauty of championship. You win some and you lose some. It wasn’t meant to be! Congratulations England and congratulations Spain for the momentous victory. We go again!

Extremely proud of the team but there were some very questionable decisions from the ref. Paralluela should have had a second yellow which would have been big. Very unlucky but very proud.

As a father of two daughters, this World Cup has meant more than just footy. The Lionesses have been great. Tears of pride right now.

I'm absolutely devastated for the Lionesses.

They've built so much momentum throughout this tournament, in the quarter-final, semi-final.

But we have to be honest today, Spain have outplayed England. It's a fantastic achievement for them. All the credit to them tonight.

We should be proud. Sure, today might not've gone the way we thought it would. But this England team has inspired us throughout this tournament. They've been true warriors. Women's football in England is rising thanks to them, and the future is bright. Thank you, lionesses.

Deserved win for Spain, England never really in it to be honest.

    Mark, Windsor

Fairs fair. Spain simply better on the day. Stronger in the tackle, better individual control, all round more competent team performance. Deserved winners.

Incredible scenes on the Spain bench. La Roja are crowned world champions at just their third World Cup. They had won just one of their previous seven World Cup matches before this tournament. Their sixth win in Australia and New Zealand sees them crowned world champions.
